This should be a fun game to watch between two good teams that just can’t get over the hump in post season play. Both of these teams have pretty good lineups, yet also off to just mediocre starts offensively both averaging 4.3 to 4.4 runs per game. A rough strength of schedule for both teams this far is part of the reason. The White Sox are favored for a few reasons besides being at home here. For one, the reincarnation of Lance Lynn is at the helm who had a monster year in 2021 allowing a 2.69 ERA and 3.32 FIP. Last year wasn’t the same story allowing a 3.99 ERA and a 3.82 FIP. In his first start this year, his control wasn’t there. On the other side, Alex Cobb is the lead man for the Giants who had a brilliant year in 2022 at a 3.73 ERA and a 2.8 FIP. Lynn has been decent against the Giants allowing a 3.19 ERA while Cobb has pitched poorly against the White Sox allowing 21 runs over 27 innings at a 6.83 ERA. I think the number is pretty solid on the side, but I am actually looking at the total. The White Sox are the best team hitting against lefties over the past 3 years. The wind is blowing out to left field at over 10 MPH which could help manufacture HRs. I am also concerned for the White Sox bullpen some using six total pitchers yesterday to get past the Giants. Both teams are pretty good manufacturing runs. I will take the over 8 runs.
