Iowa vs Illinois -2 O/U 162
What a fun matchup here between Luka Garza and Cofi Cockburn down low. Both of these guys will be trying to prove who the best center in the big 10 or maybe even in all of college basketball. Iowa lost to Indiana last game at home and now they are a little bit desperate here to stay on top. I really was high on Illinois coming into this season but it has become apparent that this team doesn’t have any good forwards at all. They rely too much on Cofi Cockburn and Giorgi Bezhanishvili has turned soft. It’s like he has gotten worse over the years. Georgi, when shooting the ball is more of a liability than an asset due to his low percentages for the big man. The Illini should maybe put Dosunmu at Forward and keep Frazier and Miller at the guard positions. Illinois has been missing a few big guys since November but it’s not like Zack Griffith and Jermain Hamlin were huge roll players. Besides forwards, Iowa will have an advantage with their ball movement down low. Iowa has an amazing 2.1 assist to turnover ratio compared to Illinois who is at 1.3. This could have a big effect in the paint and getting easy layups when needed. Iowa is a regression candidate because they average 48.7% shooting and they shot a bad 38.1% last game vs Indiana. One thing that you can count on is Speed speed speed and points points points out of these 2 teams. I have Iowa winning this game 85-82 and I think that they will have an advantage down based on the play of their forwards.
