Texas vs Houston -10.5 O/U 131
This game looks like a normal Big 12 game on paper, but the truth is that it means much more to the kids playing it. Houston survived at Texas in overtime getting the win 76-72 back on January 29th. That game was a barn burner. I think that today we have to look for some road revenge. Let’s face it, the Cougars are overrated. I am not going to try and argue that Houston doesn’t have the best defense in the NCAA. They do, but what about that offense? Houston ranks high in offensive efficiency but, but their adjusted FG% only ranks 144th in the nation and 234th in effective FG% when not adjusted for strength of schedule. Texas ranks 11th in adjusted FG% and 18th in offensive efficiency. If these horns get hot, they could put the Cougars once again in a very tough spot to finish this game. One advantage that Texas does have here is near proximity scoring. This Longhorns team ranks 10th in adjusted scoring by the rim to Houston ranking 99th in defending it. Texas knows a few things here. This win would really help their post season rankings, and it also will give them a claim to being the best team in Texas. Houston has a revenge game with Iowa State on deck.

Arizona State vs Arizona -18.5 O/U 157.5
This is actually a much better rivalry than people might think. Last year, ASU lost to Arizona at home by nine points. Later in the season, the Sun Devils went to Tucson and won outright. ASU does not have a bunch of matchup advantages here against the Cats, hence the big spread, but at least they have figured out their defense some ranking 48th in efficiency on Kenpom. I also like how ASU won their last two games at a tough environment at Utah and home vs Oregon State. Last year this team had to save Bobby Hurley’s job and they succeeded in that. I could see a max effort here. Rivalry games like this should not have large double digit spreads.
