Duke vs Houston -4 O/U 134.5
This should be a fun game between a blue chip Blue Devil vs a Hungry Houston Cougars team. It’s no secret that Houston had a very very dramatic game last week against A&M. The Aggies missed a lot of free throws and really could have won that game. Duke had it pretty getting this far vs a poor Vermont team and a ref show hurting James Madison’s best player last week. I think that this is a completely different matchup for the Cougs this week. A&M would viciously charge the hoop which helped the zebras blow the whistle, but this isn’t your average Greyson Allen Duke team. The Blue Devils are more of a team that doesn’t dribble drive to the rim and I am not sure that bodes well. Houston’s agressive defensive strength can be their weakness if you get them in foul trouble like on Sunday, but Duke may be looking to hit the three more than draw the foul. The Cougars will have a big advantage in near proximity points ranking 11th on Haslametrics to Duke ranking 65th defending it. Duke’s only advantage is that they can hit the three ball quite well, but I honestly do not see that happeneing with the ball pressure from guys like Jamal Shead and LJ Cryer. If you can rough up Filipowski like Tennessee did last year, the Dukies end up crawling into a shell. Houston’s relentless D tends to do that and we saw it happen twice against North Carolina. Take Houston to cover this one and not almost blow it at the end like on Sunday.
