The South Florida Bulls head to Kentucky to take on the Louisville Cardinals on Saturday afternoon. As a 24.5 point dog, the Bulls are coming off a hard fought game last week against their instate rival, Florida Gators, losing 31-28. Louisville is also coming off a tough loss to Florida St after they fell 35-31. Through 3 games, the Cardinals are averaging just 19.3 points per game but that was against opponents that have collectively given up 17.2 points per game on average. They will gracefully welcome the Bulls defense who has given up 33.7 points per game, through 3 games as well. USF runs the ball 53.8% of their plays and are gaining 5.98 yards per rush (11th best in the nation) and they will be going up against Louisville’s 126th ranked defensive rushing plays success rate. The Bulls will thrive on the ground in this one. On the other side, the Cardinals will fare better on offense in this one as well since they will be going up against the 96th ranked USF defensive success rate. Additionally, both defenses rank in the bottom 3rd of the nation according to PFF. Louisville compiled 495 yards while scoring 31 points against the #9 defense (Florida St) against defending explosive plays. There will be more opportunity this week and I expect the Cardinals to make more plays down field against the 76th ranked team on giving up plays of 30 yards or more.
