The Florida Atlantic Owls head to Indiana this weekend to take on the Purdue Boilermakers on Saturday night. The Owls come in with a 1-3 record and are off a 40-17 shellacking last week against UCF while the Boilermakers enter the contest 1-2 after a tough loss to a good Syracuse squad last week 32-29. Even though both teams have just one win, there is a huge difference between their strength of schedules. The numbers for FAU are a bit skewed from facing and losing to Charlotte, Ohio and UCF while their only victory was to a FCS squad. Purdue’s only win is also against an FCS squad but their losses amount to 7 total points against Penn State and Cuse. Even with the 25th hardest strength of schedule. the Boilermakers own the 26th best offense and 9th best defense in success rate in the country. Expect a fast pace game here with both team tempos ranking in the 20s in the nation. FAU looks to run the ball for a good majority of the game but that will be an issue going up against the Purdue squad who has only given up 2.66 yards per rush and ranks 3rd in defensive running success rate. On the other side of the ball, the Boilers will be looking to throw, as they pass 62.2% of their plays (3rd most) and will be going up against the 120th ranked defense in pass play success rate and 122th in giving up plays of 30 yards or more. In a fast pace game with the ability to pass on the opposition, I am looking for the Boilermakers to run up the score and win by more than 3 touchdowns. Take Purdue -20 for 0.5% of your bankroll.
