Many have predicted the Oakland As to have the worst record in baseball thus far. I mean, it’s really hard to disagree when this team started out 2-4 giving up the third most runs per game at 6.83. What’s not looking good for them today is that they have Ken Waldichuk pitching who was at a 4.93 ERA and a 4.3 FIP in 35 innings in 2022. Oakland’s bullpen is also quite rough. The Rays on the other hand have Zach Eflin going had a very solid 3.56 FIP last year. This certainly explains the moneyline at -245 but the total tells a story. The Rays rank number 1 in runs per game thus far at 7.33. The total of 7.5 assumes that Oakland isn’t going to score much today. I think the safest bet this game is the Rays team total over 4.5 runs and this might hit early.
