Boston Red Sox at Chicago White Sox
The Bo Sox hit the road after going 5-4 over their 9 game home stand. They haven’t faired well on the road going 6-10 so far this year. Good thing we’re not taking a side here. I’m more interested in the Red Sox team total over 5 -125. They’ve hit 5 or more runs in 7 out of the 16 games or 43.75% of the time. I like it more here because Giolito is coming off a 2 2/3 inning effort where he left with a hamstring injury. Before that he’s given up 4, 5 and 2 runs respectively going past 5 innings only once. He was one of the worst pitchers in the MLB last year. This year he’s sporting a 6.43 ERA, 4.98 FIP and 3.91 xFIP at home. He’s giving up slightly more runs than what’s expected given his fielder independent pitching (FIP) stats. I like him to give up runs here and the Bo Sox could enjoy some time away from Fenway and the expectations they had coming into the year.
