Baltimore Orioles @ Boston Red Sox 2:10pm est (Makeup From Rain Delay)
The Boston Red Sox come into this 2021 season looking to completely erase last years shortend season. With Chris Sale injured till like June, and Rodriguez ending his spring with dead-arm, Nathan Eovaldi will start. Eovaldi pitches well against the O’s. He was 3-0 last year, with an ERA of 0.95. On the visiting side, John Means is slated to take the mound. In 2019 Means was the AL Rookie of the Year runner up. Into his sophomore season, he was 2-4 with a 4.53 ERA in 10 starts.
PREDICTION: Boston added a veteran presence to their lineup with faces like Renfroe, Hernandez, and Marwin Gonzalez. After a very disappointing and struggle in 2020 season, the Red Sox will look to rebound and start the 2021 season off right on opening day. Look for Eovaldi to continue his success against Baltimore. (Red Sox -168)
Los Angeles Dodgers @ Colorado Rockies 8:40pm est
Opening Day was spoiled yesterday for the Dodgers as the Rockies bested them 8-5 in Colorado. The highly favorited Dodgers and Clayton Kershaw were lit up in the first 6 innings. Kershaw went for 5.2 innings, and gave up 5 earned runs on 10 hits. Chris Owings was a big name last night for the Rockies as he was 3-3 with an RBI. Trevor Bauer and Antonio Senzatela are both scheduled to get the starts.
PREDICTION: The Dodgers offense did not look bad. Yes, Kershaw was torched early, but the Los Angeles was still able to mange 5 runs. It would have been more but Cody Bellinger’s home run was taken away after a very controversial and confusing play. However this won’t be the case again tonight. Trevor Bauer is going to do what the Dodgers gave him all that money to do, and that is to carve. The Dodgers will get their first win of the 2021 season tonight by a large margin. (Los Angeles Dodgers -1.5)
Arizona Diamondback @ San Diego Padres 10:10pm est
The Padres took the first game of the series 8-7 in a thrilling Opening Day matchup. The Padres got out the gate fast with back to back homers and were quickly up 6-1. In the 5th, Arizona fired back with a 6 run inning. The Diamondbacks were then held scoreless by the Padres bullpen. Eric Hosmer went 3-4 with 1HR and 3RBIs. Blake Snell and Merrill Kelly are the projected starters.
PREDICTION: I really like the matchup here for the Padres hitters against Merrill Kelly. Blake Snell is going to want to show his new team how good he really is. Blake Snell was a workload of a pitcher for the Rays, and with this Padres crew, they will be able to supply him with enough run support for his first win with the new team. (San Diego Padres -1.5)
