All Star Game over 315.5 points (-110), 2 units: I wouldn’t be surprise if this line went up even more. Think about it– teams like the Nets and Warriors and Bucks and Wizards all routinely score over 120 points in game. This line is saying that each team, Team Durant and Team Lebron, will just score 38 points more than that. That’s not hard to do in the All-Star game. The first and second quarters will mostly be dunks, threes, and easy buckets. I realize the books have adjusted this line and it seems to go up every year, but if you were to add and average the last 5 NBA totals, you would get 338 ppg. NBA teams are scoring more efficiently from beyond the arc than ever. Although the under could always hit, that’s never the play. Bet on the over at a good price.
Pick a Flyer to Win MVP: There’s little value is picking one of the favorites to win MVP. Lebron, Harden, Irving– that’s too easy and you’d win too little. Often at All Star Games, NBA players like to prop up and allow a young buck taking the league by storm to play a little ball-hog. Of all the high-value picks, I like Bradley Beal (+1600) the most. The Wizards star has asserted himself as one of the elite scorers in the NBA at nearly 3 points ahead of the next highest scorer (Beal: 32.9 ppg, K. Irving: 30.2). When he’s in rhythm, Beal has a Kobe-like flow. His athleticism and shooting skill makes him almost impossible to stop. I could see Beal taking over late in the game and putting on a show. And I could see OGs like Kyrie Irving and Kawhi Leonard having no problem feeding him the ball. Here are some other options to look at:
- Giannis: +650
- Steph Curry: +800
- Luka: +1200
- Lillard: +1400
- D. Booker: +1600
- Jokic: +2500
