Tip off week continues today with 10 games. Quick recap of yesterday’s free pick, Under 209 in the Boston/Philadelphia game was the pick I gave out. The number closed at 211, 211.5 depending on where you bet and this ended up being a stress free under as it was never in doubt. The two teams only combined for 50 or more points in one quarter, we cleared the under by 22 no problem. Tonight we have an ESPN double header, New Orleans @ Houston 7pm and Dallas @ Phoenix 10:30pm. I’d like to focus on the latter game. The Mavericks travel to Phoenix to take on the Suns in a pretty even match-up that involves two franchises trying to make a playoff push in this crowded Western Conference. The 1st & 3rd selection in the 2018 Draft will be featured in this one; Deandre Ayton (Suns) & Luka Doncic (Hawks traded to Mavs). Luka was 2nd on the team in scoring this preseason only behind Dennis Smith Jr. The seven footer on the other side is producing like a 1st overall pick should, leading the team in Scoring, Rebounding & Blocked shots. All this without their true top scorer, Devin Booker. Booker returns tonight from wrist surgery but only in a limited role as he missed all of the preseason. Dirk Nowitzki will miss the first few weeks of the season and won’t be playing tonight along with Harrison Barnes. I really like what progress the Suns have shown this preseason & love adding a veteran guard like Jamal Crawford. Unfortunately, I don’t think it all comes together just yet. Still a lot of questions to be answered after Booker’s wrist surgery and the Suns are still generally a young team. Mavs added a good rebounder in Deandre Jordan and Luka seems to compliment Dennis Smith Jr very well. I don’t necessarily think the Mavericks will be the better team by season’s end but look for them to start off the season on a good foot with a win in Phoenix Take Dallas with a little cushion.
