Texans vs Steelers +2.5 O/U 37.5
NFL Preseason is under way and unders thus far have been the way to go. In saying that, we have to be careful as some teams are playing some pretty good players in the beginning of the games. In tonight’s game with the Steelers hosting the Texans, Houston coach Demeco Ryans said that he will be starting his starters. This caused a pretty significant line move shifting the Texans to the favorite for tonight’s matchup. In saying this, the Steelers also will be starting a good quarterback in Justin Fields as Russell Wilson is being listed as out due to his calf injury. I think that the bigger reason for Houston being the favorite is that the backup quarterbacks are considered better with Davis Mills and Case Keenum battling it out, but we must not forget that they still are rostering Tim Boyle, and I think that we get a good dose of him in the second half. Also, you may or may not have noticed that the Texans have a pretty poor third string defense as the Bears were able to walk up and down the field using their third string backups in the Hall of Fame Game. Demeco Ryans hasn’t had a big enough sample size to see how motivated that he truly is to get a W, but we do know that Steelers coach Mike Tomlin is 41-20 at 67% in the preseason. I also know that Tomlin will be playing some Kyle Allen in this game, who was also a starter at one time for the Carolina Panthers. He has hopes of staying on the squad as the backup over John Rhys Plumblee. I am going to go with Pittsburgh here to win the game outright and continue Mike Tomlin’s preseason success.
