NHL Preview & Picks – February 17th, 2023

214

We have five games taking place across the NHL tonight. I’ll break down my best bet(s) along with a few player props to take a look at.

Pick(s):

  • Los Angeles Kings/ Anaheim Ducks over 6.5 (-115) – DraftKings

The Kings return to action after winning their last two games following the All-Star break. In those matchups, they outscored their opponents 11-2. Their Power Play has been fantastic scoring multiple goals on the man advantage against both Pittsburgh and Buffalo. They defeated the Ducks in their previous matchup this season 4-1 with 40-plus shots on goal. Pheonix Copley will get the start for them tonight and while he has been solid as of late, he has struggled on the road. In his last three starts away from home, he’s averaged 3.67 goals against.

Anaheim has dropped three straight games allowing 6 or more goals in each of those matchups. John Gibson, who’s been confirmed for tonight, was the starter in two of those three games. The Duck’s offense hasn’t been horrendous as they did score three goals in two of their last three.

Los Angeles has found their scoring touch as of late and should be able to roll tonight against an Anaheim team that’s extremely weak defensively. While I don’t see the Ducks scoring a ton, they should be able to contribute a few to the total.
