*NBA(1u): Nets +1.5 @ Bucks–6:40 PM CT
The Bucks took down the Nets in the Eastern Conference Semi’s last year in one of the better series of the postseason that went the full 7 games. If you’ll remember, Brooklyn jumped out to a commanding 2-0 lead before Giannis and the Bucks came storming back and didn’t stop until they had won the NBA Finals. With a short offseason after last year’s scheduling issues, though, I think the hangover effect for the Bucks could be greater than it has been for previous NBA champions. A lot has been made of Kyrie Irving’s absence from the Nets, but you have to remember that the Nets were forced to play without one and sometimes two of their main three players for virtually all of last season. The Bucks are still in celebration mode and are thinking about their Finals run(there will be a ring ceremony in Milwaukee tonight), while the Nets have the perfect opportunity to avenge the postseason loss and quiet the outside noise regarding the Kyrie Irving situation. Another key factor in this game is that the Bucks no longer have PJ Tucker to lock down the opposing scoring threats and are still working through some depth issues early in this season. I’ll take the 1.5 points with Brooklyn with the full expectation they’ll win this game outright.
