A nice 3-1 start to the week in single plays and that parlay was sooooo close to hitting with Milwaukee, too. Solid +3.5 unit Monday and we move on to Tuesday. Unfortunately, the NBA slate today is absolutely gross, with very limited value. I have two picks that I like/don’t love – tread with caution today.
NBA Picks:
- Pacers +7, 1 unit
- This is UGLY, but the Grizzlies are likely without Ja Morant tonight and the Pacers have been playing well/fighting hard against superior competition. At home, with Hield and Haliburton, Indiana is a young and able team that should be able to keep this close. They like to surge in the 2nd half; look to bet them live if they’re way down at the midway point.
- Suns/Pelicans over 226.5, 1.5 units
- There are clear advantages for both offensives in this contest. If McCollum plays, and hopefully he does (but even if he doesn’t), the Pelicans are an above-average mid-range and front court offense that attacks the rim early and often. Their pace has also risen and risen the last few weeks. Though few teams defend better than the Suns, Ayton is inconsistent in the paint and could be exposed by Valanciunas and the Pelicans’ infiltrating guards. The Suns put on an offensive explosion 2 nights ago against LAL (we saw that coming, i.e. our newsletter Saturday), and they no doubt run faster without CP3 at the helm. Phoenix is so gifted with shooters and New Orleans doesn’t defend it well. I like the over here and it’s climbing for a reason.
CBB Picks:
- Texas A&M 1H over 38 points, 1.5 units
- I don’t see how Alcorn St. can stop the A&M offense, especially with the Aggies work-ethic and energy on the offensive end of the floor. This could slow down in the 2nd half– love their 1H over.
- Indiana -4, 1 unit
- This is a class-war and one is clearly better than the other. As long as the Hoosiers are motivated, they should be able to easily cover a line of 4 points against a team that’s faced vastly inferior opponents.
