*MLB(1u): Red Sox -0.5(-130) vs Mets–6:10 PM CT

The Mets want nothing more than for this disastrous 2021 season to end. After all the hype and promise coming into the season, this team has endured a tumultuous season and is now squarely out of the playoff race. Meanwhile, Boston is in a fight for their life for an AL Wild Card spot. They’ll send Chris Sale to the mound today which should present a tough matchup to a dreadful Mets offense. Other than 1 start against Tampa, Sale has looked dominant through 6 appearances this season, and he has everything in his favor going into this matchup tonight. Mets SP Taijuan Walker had a great first half to the season but has really fallen off in the closing months of the season. This is likely due to the fact that Walker hasn’t recorded 150 innings in a season since 2017 due to injuries; in other words, I think we’ve seen fatigue set in, leading to inconsistency from the talented righty. Boston’s lineup has produced extremely well against right-handed pitching over the last 2 months, and given the stakes of this game, I don’t expect them to give away any free outs. -130 is a little juicy for my liking, but I like the Red Sox too much to not back them in the F5 tonight.

*MLB(1u): Mariners F5 ML(+115) @ Athletics–8:40 PM CT

These teams are nearly identical in the way they match up, and considering the recent trends from each, I have a hard time understanding why Oakland is such a clear favorite. Seattle has already taken the first two games of this series and have played much more consistently since the All Star Break. They’ll send Chris Flexen to the hill tonight to match up with the mediocre A’s lineup. I’ve loved what Flexen has done all year; I can trust a guy with a HR/9 under 1.0 and a BB/9 at 2.0. Oakland SP Cole Irvin has had a respectable season, but the Mariners have had success off the lefty from 1-9 in their order. Seattle is a team that has surprised everybody this season(including their front office), and with the way they’ve gelled together, I’m not looking to bet against them. I think we’re getting good value on the road dog early in this game.
