Hawks' star Trae Young celebrating his team jersey.

Hawks -3.5 (-115), 2 units: This line started at the Hawks -5 and it’s come down some, which gives me pause, but I still really like Atlanta in this spot. Russel Westbrook is getting exposed (we already knew). His presence does not equate to more wins, nor does it ever equate to more points. Meanwhile, Bradley Beal looks depleted. The Wizards’ star is having a historic season, leading the NBA with 35.3 ppg as he’s stuck putting the Wizards offense on his back. That’s quite a load to carry with how shallow and injured they are. Even with his ridiculously high-scoring, the Wizards are statistically one of the worst teams in the league (ranked 25th in point differential). The Hawks are in a good spot after an impressive loss against the Nets 2 days ago, they’re healthier, and boast a far deeper lineup than Washington. I think it’s a big night for Trae Young and company– until Washington proves me wrong, I’ll continue to play against the Wiz-kids.

Bucks/Pelicans over 230 (-110), 1.5 units: The Pelicans can’t quite figure themselves out. Some games they go at light speed, which tends to fare well, while other games they play more methodically. I don’t think they’ll have a choice in this contest. The Bucks push the ball down court as well as any team in the NBA, with fast break layups and dunks aplenty, and they’re top 10 in possessions per game. New Orleans will be forced to play at a faster pace and take more shots beyond the arc, even if they are in the bottom 5 in 3-point FG %. I like this game to exceed 230 while the Pelicans are forced to chase the Bucks from start to finish.
