Marquette is coming off a monumental win over Illinois earlier this week, but anybody who watched that game understands that Illinois lost more than Marquette won. While the Golden Eagles deserve credit, I do wonder how they’ll respond in this “hangover” spot. Shaka Smart has not earned the benefit of the doubt on that front during his time as a HC; he was mostly disappointing in his time at Texas. Kermit Davis hasn’t been overly successful at Ole Miss, but this is the best team he’s had since arriving in Oxford. The Rebels have a top 25 defense according to KenPom and should be able to stifle a limited Marquette offense. From there, I think the talent wins out for Ole Miss; I like them to pull away in the second half with a comfortable win.
