The #22 St. Bonaventure Bonnies and the Boise State Broncos square off in the Charleston Classic this afternoon looking to advance to the winners bracket.. The Bonnies have opened the season 2-0 with wins over Siena and Canisius and Boise State is 1-1 and looking to bounce back from a 58-50 loss at UC Irvine. The Bonnies have shot 46.8% from the field and scored 72 points per game against defenses allowing 48.6% from the field and 78.2 points per game. On Defense, they have been stout by allowing only 53.5 points per game but that was against teams averaging 60.3 points on offense. The Broncos have the better strength of schedule and have shot 42.1% against defenses allowing 39.1% from the field and their defense could be the story of the game giving up only 57 points against opposing offenses averaging 73.3 points per game. St. Bonaventure could be missing star center Osun Osunniyi. He leads all active players in blocks, averaging 2.72 per game, is the leading rebounder and a double-digit scorer. We’d forecast a fairly average tempo by Division I standards here. There are contrasting tastes between these two units. Boise State (120th in the NCAA in game pace) enjoys things at a faster clip, while St. Bonaventure (337th) is content with slowing down the gameplay, according to Haslametrics. This seems like a good spot for Boise State, especially if Osunniyi is out. The Broncos, like St. Bonaventure, have five seniors in their starting lineup, so I am expecting a bounce back game here. Additionally, the Broncos are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games as an underdog. Take Boise State +4.5
