New Zealand basketball disappoints, but a nice 3-0 day in MLB. I don’t love the card today at all really, but we found a few plays with good value. We’re going to do our best to get early looks/lines in CFL this week – stay tuned and happy new week, good people
MLB Picks:
Tigers/Royals Game 1, Tigers ML (+115), to win 1.15 units
Two of the AL Central’s last placed teams may seem equally terrible but lately the Tigers are showing some nice fight, especially on offense. Though they lost their last 2, they won 6 straight games prior. In those 6 games, they scored a whopping 37 runs. For whatever reason, Michael Pineda tends to show up against tougher competition but he has frequent duds when he should win – like he did recently against KC back on July 1. Brad Keller has been more consistent, but this is a nice revenge spot for Pineda against a very beatable team in KC. I trust their offense and momentum.
Braves/Mets under 7 (-110), to win 1 unit
Scherzer looks as elite as ever and two of the best throwers will duel it out today in Atlanta. Against two big hitting teams it’s not easy taking an under, but we’re seeing lower scoring across MLB when there are 2 aces on the mound. This is one of those situations. The Braves’ bats have been hot and NYM is coming off a scoreless game, so that’s scary, but I can’t not trust these two studs.
Rockies (+132), to win 1.32 units
Jose Urena starts his first game for Colorado and why wouldn’t the ilme-high squad be excited for their new addition? Urena has a bad xERA (6.19), which may mean some worse marks are coming, but his 96 mph fastball should mean more Ks and less players walked – those figures are way too disparate. Either way, Sean Manaea hasn’t been too stellar this season and now he’s traveling to the Rockies for the first time in 2022. Colorado has owned the Padres at home (3-0) so even if Urena sees some regression tonight, it’s very possible that Colorado’s bats still save the home team.
