Akron vs Buffalo +2.5 O/U 146

This should be a fun game to watch of offense vs defense.  The Bulls under coach Jim Whitesell have been hot and cold this year, but they tend to show up a bit more at home where they are used to their backdrop.   Buffalo is basically a middle of the road team both on offense and on defense who loves to speed up the game ranking 10th in average possession length.  Akron on the other hand likes o play a bit more defense and slow the game down some ranking 271st in average possession length.  They are a solid defensive team ranking 106th in defensive efficiency, but on offense, they do not shoot all that well ranking 241st in effective FG%.   So why are they on a 6 game wining streak then?  Smoke and mirrors, the Zips in their six last games played the bottom feeders of the MAC conference, while Buffalo is at least one of the better teams.  Akron’s big problem is that they shoot a lot of threes ranking 37th in attempts while only ranking 249th in three point percentage.  Buffalo has a decent perimeter defense ranking 120th in opponent adjusted three point percentage.  Buffalo’s strength of schedule ranks 109th to Akron’s ranking 284th.  Take the Bulls.

Buffalo +2.5 – 2 stars

Northwestern vs Iowa -7 O/U 149.5

Now I am not the kind of guy who likes to bet Iowa unders.  The speed in which they play is very fast, and tend to lack on the defensive side of the ball.  What does that mean for Northwestern?   Well, they matchup well vs Iowa.  Their defensive efficiency ranks 22nd in the nation while Iowa ranks 126th.   Northwestern isn’t a great shooting team by any means shooting only 47.2%, but they are very good at not turning the ball over ranking 17th in the nation, as well as forcing turnovers ranking 26th in the nation.  Those extra possessions could go a long way in this game.    We also have to notice that Northwestern’s last three games have them shooting 56.9% effective FG%.  Now the key to this game will be slowing down Iowa star Chris Murray who is 6’8 and can score anywhere, but having guys like 6’9 Robbie Beran, and 7′ center Matthew Nicholson, I kinda like their chances.  Northwestern has had some great performances this year on the road beating teams like Indiana, Michigan State and Nebraska.  Both Haslametrics and Kenpom have this only a four point game.  I think that the Cats keep scratching their way up and this game they know will go a long ways when it comes to seeding in the NCAA tournament.

Northwestern +7 – 2 stars

Kiev O'Neil: 20+ years of sports betting experience. Podcast host since 2017. College Football since 2019 412-367-27 UP 58.7U NFL since 2018 249-228-16 up 40U UFC since 2019 82-74-5 up 34.1U I do not necessarily look at myself as being a so called “sharp” sports bettor. Instead I like to think of myself as a great compiler of information who specializes in the Big 10, but also handicaps all NFL, NCAA football, UFC, Basketball, Horse Racing and more! I encourage people to specialize in a conference or division that will help give them the greatest edge in their sports wagers. I am never against a person betting against their favorite teams when the situation is right.
