This is probably the best game of the day. Most of the efficiency sites have Houston winning at Kansas by 5 or 6 points, but do we actually believe that? Heck no. This line will be +1 at best at the Phog, and anything more you better jump on quickly. Kansas’s star play Kevin McCuller sat out their last game vs Oklahoma State, but I believe it was just basically a rest spot for the kid who was a little soar after the Iowa State game. So the main reason why Houston is ranked number one on Kenpom is due to their unrelenting defense. I get it and all, but it’s not like they this team was all that impressive in some of their wins. Houston squeaked by a few teams like Texas in overtime and BYU had them until the final minute of the game. Houston has a poor offense and they only shoot 201st in effective FG% at 49.9%. This could be dangerous when trying to climb back in a big game. They found this out away at Iowa State and TCU scoring in the low 50s to mid 60s. They shoot only 47.4% effective FG on the road. Kansas shoots a monster 58.3% at home and will have a raucous crowd for the Cougars to deal with. Houston ranks 356th away from home while Kansas ranks 54th as a home team on Haslametrics. Kansas gets the big win here and the wrong team is favored.
