Wild 2022-23 Report Cards: Brock Faber

Brock Faber has showcased an impressive rookie campaign, registering 4 goals and 29 assists, totaling 33 points in 52 games. His outstanding performance has positioned him alongside Connor Bedard, sharing the lead for the most points by a rookie this season.

Brock Faber has been consistently productive, tallying at least one point in nine of his last ten games. Over this period, he has contributed two goals and eleven assists to his team’s efforts. Particularly impressive is his performance on the road, where he has secured at least one point in 60% of his games (15 out of 25). Moreover, Faber has continued his road success with points in nine of his last ten away games.

Faber, anchoring Minnesota’s top defensive pairing, boasts the highest average ice time per game on the team, logging an impressive 24:58 minutes.

He also plays a pivotal role on Minnesota’s primary power-play unit, which is expected to capitalize on opportunities against Arizona, the second-most penalized team this season. Notably, Arizona’s penalty kill has struggled recently, allowing a goal in seven of their last ten games. Despite Minnesota’s power play ranking 16th for the season with a 20.57% conversion rate, their performance has surged in the last ten games to an impressive 30.56% conversion rate.

Although the Wild currently rank 16th in goals for per game this season, averaging 3.00, their offensive output has surged in their last ten games, averaging 3.80 goals per game. Conversely, Arizona ranks 18th for goals against per game this season, averaging 3.14, but has struggled defensively in their recent ten games, conceding an average of 3.70 goals.

  • Fabian Zetterlund under 0.5 Points (-135) – BetMGM

Sharks Sign Forward Fabian Zetterlund | NHL.com

Fabian Zetterlund ranks fourth on the Sharks’ roster for points, tallying 14 goals and 7 assists (21 points) across 51 games. Throughout the season, he has maintained an average of 0.41 points per game.

Over the last ten games, Zetterlund has accumulated four points, consisting of three goals and one assist. However, it’s noteworthy that in one of those games, he managed to secure two points. Consequently, he has surpassed his total of 0.5 points in only three out of his last ten games.

At home, Zetterlund has tallied at least one point in 41.7% of his games this season. On the road, that number drops to 25.9%.

The Sharks currently rank 31st in the league for goals scored per game this season, averaging 2.08. However, on the road, they’ve averaged 2.00. On the defensive end, Winnipeg leads the league in goals against per game, averaging 2.32. Over their last ten games, they’ve maintained a strong defensive stance, conceding an average of just 2.30 goals per game.

Tonight, Connor Hellebuyck, considered a top contender for the Vezina Trophy, will start for Winnipeg. He’s been exceptional this season, leading the league with a +25.0 Goals Saved Above Expected (GSAx). Additionally, Hellebuyck has an impressive track record against the Sharks, allowing just three goals in one of his last five starts against them.

Given Winnipeg’s defensive prowess, they should be able to limit the Sharks’ scoring opportunities tonight. It’s reasonable to expect that the Sharks may score one or two goals at most against a formidable Winnipeg defense. Notably, the Sharks’ top line, featuring Zetterlund, Grandlund, and Ducalir, has only produced five points in their last five games.
