College basketball comes early today as the Owls visit the Bulls. What an amazing success story little FAU had last year, but it’s time to pump the breaks some on this top ranked team. FAU is very good, but most teams, they are not perfect. The Owls only rank 85th in defensive efficiency and 201st in free throws. If this team comes out cold, they could be in some trouble vs some solid teams. Amir Abdur-Rahim has done a fantastic job coaching the Bulls this year. Although, they haven’t had many big wins, this team has only one loss since December 3rd. The Bulls will win with defense and forcing turnovers. They also have some matchup advantages over the Owls. South Florida ranks 20th in adjusted three point percentage to FAU ranking 102nd in defending the long ball. The Bulls should also be able to hit some midrange shots as well as you see below here on Haslametrics. 
If FAU is winning by a few points late in the game, they could struggle finishing it out only shooting 71.4% from the charity stripe. FAU is a top 22 shooting team, but on the road they about equal USF in shooting 53.7% effective FG to the Bulls at 52.3%. FAU isn’t a stranger to losing away games dropping ones to Florida Gulf Coast, Charlotte and UAB. I think we take the points here in a huge matchup that could affect both teams for post season placement.
