Andrew’s College Football Week 7 Recap and Week 8 Free Picks

568

Week 7 was a little better for the free picks going 3-2. I am still pissed at Arizona as BYU continues to pull games out of their ass. Texas Tech continues to be a wagon, Wake Forest was a no doubter, Arkansas slid right in the back door, and Old Dominion…Old Dominion had the worst half of football I have seen all season. That game was over before it even got started. Enough about last weekend we are only looking forward to some of the bets I have made for week 8 starting on Friday.

  • Utah State Aggies (-3.5) vs San Jose State Spartans (Friday (9:00 PM/EST): This line is starting to move as I am writing this because the quarterback for the Spartans Walker Eget is questionable and this a bad spot for Spartans. It is the second of back-to-back road games in high elevation and a letdown spot after a crushing loss last week. Utah State is looking to bounce back here from a loss to Hawaii last week and the homefield advantage should be just enough to get it done. I would grab this one now because if Eget does not play this is a great number.
  • Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets (+1.5) @ Duke Blue Devils (12:00 PM/EST): We thought a few weeks ago when Georgia Tech played against Clemson that was their biggest game of their ACC schedule, which is no longer the case. The Yellow Jackets have been building to this for a few years, and they finally have the pieces in place to make a run at an ACC title. The Duke offense has been on fire the last few weeks but, that has come against lesser competition. I am thinking we may have a little bit of fool’s gold there. I do not think the Georgia Tech defense will completely stop them but, they can do enough to give them a chance to win. If this game gets tight, which the line is telling you it should I will take the experience of Haynes King to get it done in a big game over the young Darian Mensah.
  • Tulane Green Wave (-5.5) 1st half vs Army Black Knights: (12:00 PM/EST): I got burned on this game last year taking Tulane at Army. Army have won their last two games going away against two of the worst teams in the American conference which is why we may be getting Tulane at a discount. Army against the better teams has gotten off to slow starts and now have to play at one of the top teams in the conference. Tulane had a couple extra days to prepare for the triple option so the defense should hold the Army offense at bay for at least a little while. The Tulane offense is the best unit on the field which is a huge problem for a weaker Army secondary. Tulane has a bye next week and I do have a little concern they take their foot of the pedal so, I am going to play it a little safe and take the first half spread in a revenge spot for the Green Wave.
  • Ohio Bobcats (-10.5) vs Northern Illinois Huskies (3:30 PM/EST): I know everyone had this one circled to watch on Saturday. The Huskies may have the worst offense in America which should allow the Bobcats to win by margin. Ohio is coming off a bye after loss to Ball State so the week off should help in getting the offense back on track. If the offense can give us 25 points or more, which is very reasonable ask for this explosive offense, Northern Illinois cannot be expected to score much as they have not eclipsed 14 points all season. This line is moving fast so get it while it is hot.
