I got a little lucky last week and finished 3-1. Bringing the free pricks record on the season to 8-5. If only Tulane did not use a back-up QB to convert a 4th down in the red zone maybe I would be riding high with a 4-0 record from last week. Either way we are moving on and carrying the momentum into a few bets I am making this Saturday.
- Wake Forest Demon Deacons (+3) vs Southern Methodist Mustangs (9:00 AM/EST): The Mustangs are coming off a revenge game after beating Clemson on the road last week and now have to travel back to the east coast. Wake Forest is coming into this fresh off a bye and are hungry to get an upset after falling just short against Georgia Tech a few weeks ago in over time. This is a good spot for the Deacs as not only is SMU playing the second of back-to-road games, but they also have Miami on deck. I like the Deacs and if you do as well take a look soon as, the threes are starting to disappear.
- South Florida Bulls (-6) @ Memphis Tigers (9:00 AM/EST): The Bulls have been a covering machine all season and since starting conference they have been putting up points! This was supposed to be the game of the year but, Memphis QB Brendon Lewis got banged up last week in their loss to UAB and even if he plays, I am concerned they will not be able to keep up with the potent Bulls offense. This line has been on the move all week but anything under 7 should be a play because all USF does is score touchdowns.
- Colorado State Rams (+4.5) @ Wyoming Cowboys (7:30 PM/EST): This handicap is simple when a team fires their coach you bet on them. The number has moved down but, hey it is a rivalry game for the Bronze Boot and with Colorado State moving to the Pac-12 who knows when the game will be played again. Colorado State has been a little unpredictable, but they are not seriously outmatched in this one and all we need them to do is keep it close. The fired coach trend is 6-1 this year, let’s see if we can get in on the fun.
- Houston Cougars (+7) @ Arizona State Sun Devils (8:00 PM/EST): This one was discussed on the Podcast as an under and I definitely lean that way too especially since it has been announced that the Sun Devils star wideout Jordan Tyson will be out for this game. The Devils fresh off the upset of Texas Tech have tended to play down to the level of their competition and Houston is not a bad team at all. All three of ASU’s big 12 wins have come down to the wire with two of those wins by 3 and beating Tech by 4. The Devils have not shown the ability to score in the red zone and without their best receiver I can’t see that improving. I am going to stay with the trend and bet the Devils win a close one but, the Coogs keep it close.
