Prediction:

  • This is a huge game that ironically has the same exact let-down situation.  Both teams are coming off wins against Illinois, yet Wisconsin’s came much more recently on Tuesday night.
  • Let’s look at Michigan State.  This team clearly has the big man and rebounding advantage at a massive 2nd in the nation at 59.4% rate.  Guys like Jaxon Kohler, Coen Carr and Carson Cooper are huge down low.  Wisconsin on the other hand isn’t too shabby from the defensive side of the ball ranking 19th on Kenpom.
  • The Badgers have the three point advantage shooting a ton of them at over 50.8% of all attempts.   When they are on, they are hard to stop.
  • The big thing for me here is Wisconsin has a strong home court advantage, and since January 7th, this team ranks 22nd on Bart Torvik while Michigan State ranks 13th.  Since February 1st, Wisconsin ranks 18th while Michigan State ranks 57th.
  • Nick Boyd from FAU and San Diego State has a ton of experience along with guard John Blackwell.
  • I think some big men like Nolan Winter, Austin Rapp, and Aleksas Bieliauskas will do enough to slow down Michigan State.
  • Sparty has been poor on the road the past few weeks having to go to overtime against Rutgers, and losing outright to Minnesota.   I think Wisconsin makes their big shots and wins this game outright.
