This marks the second encounter between these teams this season. Back in January, the Bruins secured a 4-3 overtime victory against the Blues.
St. Louis finds themselves eight points adrift of the second wild card position in the Western Conference. However, their recent form has been concerning, with just three wins in their last ten games. Their current five-game road trip concludes with this matchup, during which they’ve only garnered two points. Throughout the season, they’ve struggled away from home, sporting a 14-18-2 record.
Since the All-Star break, the Bruins have faced challenges. In their previous ten games, they’ve posted a 5-1-3-1 record. However, they’ve shown signs of improvement lately, winning three of their last four matchups. Their dominance at home continues, boasting a formidable 21-7-6 record for the season.

Winnipeg and Washington are set to face off for the first time since December 2022. Historically, the Capitals have held the upper hand in this matchup, clinching victory in seven of their last ten encounters.
The Capitals are in the midst of a battle for a wild-card position in the Eastern Conference. Presently, they trail the Detroit Red Wings by three points with two games in hand.
Enjoying a favorable run of form, Washington has secured a 7-2-1 record in their last ten outings. Their journey kicks off in Winnipeg tonight, marking the beginning of a crucial five-game road trip. Road games have posed challenges for the Capitals this season, making this stretch vital as they push for a playoff berth.
Winnipeg currently occupies the 2nd spot in the Central Division with 85 points. Despite trailing the Stars by four points, they hold three games in hand.
Tonight marks the start of a three-game homestand for the Jets, where they’ll welcome Washington, Nashville, and Anaheim. In their previous game, they were held scoreless for only the fourth time this season.
Morgan Geekie over 1.5 Shots on Goal (-150) – DraftKings
Morgan Geekie is currently stationed on Boston’s third line alongside Trent Frederick and James van Riemsdyk. Additionally, he holds a position on Boston’s second Powerplay unit, which is poised for several opportunities tonight, considering St. Louis has taken multiple penalties in their last couple of games.
Geekie has hit his shots on goal mark in four of his last five games. During that span, he’s averaging 2.0 shots on goal and 2.8 shot attempts per game.
He’s also been much better at home recording over 1.5 shots on goal in 7 of his last 10 matchups compared to just 4 of his last 10 on the road.
St. Louis currently ranks 25th in the NHL for shots on goal allowed per game, averaging 32.27 shots. On the road, this number slightly decreases to 32.15. Their recent performance has been even less stellar, with an average of 33.80 shots faced per game in their last ten outings. Breaking down the distribution by position, the Blues have conceded the fourth-highest number of shots on goal to centers in their past ten games.
Neal Pionk over 1.5 Shots on Goal (-135) – DraftKings
Neal Pionk is presently teamed up with Brenden Dillon on Winnipeg’s second defensive pairing. Additionally, he plays a role on Winnipeg’s second Powerplay unit, which is likely to see numerous opportunities tonight, considering Washington has taken multiple penalties in their last few games.
Pionk has hit his shots on goal mark in nine of his last ten games. During that span, he’s averaging 2.0 shots on goal and 3.8 shot attempts per game.
He’s also been much better at home recording over 1.5 shots on goal in 8 of his last 9 matchups compared to 7 of his last 9 on the road.
Washington is currently positioned 21st in the league for shots on goal allowed per game, averaging 30.56. On away ice, this figure experiences a slight uptick to 30.93. Delving into the distribution by position, the Capitals have conceded the eighth-highest number of shots on goal to defensemen this season.
Player Props (Points):
Pavel Zacha over 0.5 Points (-125) – DraftKings
Pavel Zacha is currently the Center on Boston’s top line with Danton Heinen and David Pastrnak on the wings. He’s also on Boston’s second Powerplay, which should see multiple opportunities tonight, considering St. Louis has taken multiple penalties in their last couple of games.
Zacha has been making the most of his time on the first line, registering a point in four of his last five games. His standout performance against Pittsburgh, where he notched two goals and one assist, highlights his recent impact.
Boston has maintained a consistent offensive output despite a record of 5-1-3-1 in their last ten games. They’ve averaged 3.30 goals per game during this stretch, closely aligning with their season average of 3.32 (8th in the league). In contrast, St. Louis has struggled defensively in their last three outings, conceding an average of 4.00 goals per game compared to their season average of 3.09. The Blues have particularly struggled on the road, allowing an average of 3.21 goals against per game this season.
Player Props (Assists):
Nico Hischier over 0.5 Assists (+130) – DraftKings
Hischier has been a consistent contributor, tallying an assist in five of his last six games overall. Particularly noteworthy is his performance on the road, where he’s managed an assist in each of his last three games. When facing New York, he’s been even more prolific, recording an assist in eleven of his last sixteen matchups against them.
Drew Doughty over 0.5 Assists (+120) – DraftKings
Throughout the season, Drew Doughty has amassed 14 goals and 26 assists across 63 games. Over his last ten appearances, he’s contributed an assist in seven of them. Particularly at home, Doughty has been impactful, notching an assist in four of his last five games.
Player Props (Anytime Goal Scorers):
Chris Kreider Anytime Goal Scorer (+140) – BetRivers
Chris Kreider has been a scoring force for the New York Rangers, finding the back of the net in six of his last ten games. His prowess is especially pronounced at home, where he’s netted a goal in four of his last five appearances at Madison Square Garden. Additionally, Kreider thrives in matchups against their rival, boasting a remarkable 11 goals in his last 17 encounters against them.

Sony Milano Anytime Goal Scorer (+410) – BetRivers
Although categorized as Washington’s third line, Milano, alongside Strong and Miroshnichenko, has been logging significant minutes. Milano’s performance has been outstanding of late, finding the net in seven of his last ten games for the Capitals. Additionally, he boasts a favorable track record against Winnipeg, scoring in two of his last three matchups against them.

Kevin Fiala Anytime Goal Scorer (+160) – DraftKings
Kevin Fiala has emerged as a key offensive force for the Kings, showcasing his scoring prowess by finding the back of the net in eight of his last ten games. Notably, he has been particularly impressive at home, scoring in six of his last seven games at Crypto.com Arena.

Betting Odds to Win Division and Season Over/Under Win Totals
Atlanta Braves -275/101.5
Philadelphia Phillies +325/89.5
New York Mets +625/81.5
Miami Marlins +1500/78.5
Washington Nationals +4500/65.5
Atlanta Braves
The Braves had a dream season in 2023 winning 104 games before it all came crashing down in the NLDS. The Braves will be back strong again in 2024 with the best position player and pitcher in baseball. Ronald Acuna Jr. leads the hit parade, and as long as the knee injury he is currently resting is nothing serious should again dominate. He’s hardly the only threat in the lineup however as the top six hitters are all projected for 25+ Home Runs. If newcomer Jarred Kelenic can somehow reach his former prospect potential in Atlanta this lineup becomes even more dangerous. Spencer Strider is the top rotation arm in the big leagues as he strikes out nearly a batter an inning. The rest of the rotation showcases Max Fried, Charlie Morton, Chris Sale and Reynaldo Lopez. Other than Strider they all have had some sort of injury bug, but if they’re healthy it is a top tier 1-5 rotation. The bullpen is anchored by Raisel Iglesias. Setup men A.J. Minter and Joe Jimenez are solid and it has a nice mix of righties and lefties for any situation. It will be another N.L. East crown for Atlanta in 2024, but I don’t think they repeat the regular season success of 2023. Prediction 97-65
Philadelphia Phillies
The Fightin Phils went 90-72 in 2023 and came one game away from the World Series losing to Arizona in seven games. The lineup returns mostly intact with Kyle Schwarber again scheduled to leadoff. I don’t really agree with putting a 40+ homer guy at the top to drive in nobody on his longballs, but he does boast a .347 OBP. Bryce Harper will be back in the field most days at first base, and Trea Turner still holds down SS. J.T. Realmuto may be on his last legs as a top tier catcher. On the pitching side of things they re-signed Aaron Nola to pair up with Zach Wheeler so they have a solid top of the rotation. Christopher Sanchez and Ranger Suarez were solid surprises for the Phils, and they hope to get a decent year from Taijuan Walker in the #5 spot. The bullpen loses Craig Kimbrel, but still has Jose Alvarado to closeout games. My crystal ball says this team didn’t do anything to get any better and is simply a year older. Prediction 86-76
Miami Marlins
The big loss for the Marlins in the off-season was Jorge Soler moving on. As a small market club they have to try and build some things from within and the pitching staff they have developed may help them get back into the playoffs. While Sandy Alcantara is out this year with Tommy John, they still bring back Jesus Luzardo and Eury Perez at the top of the rotation. Perez should be off an innings cap this season as well. Braxton Garrett is the question mark with a fatigued shoulder to start camp. If he can get right early in the season this rotation could be special. The bullpen is better at closer than most of 2023 with Tanner Scott now firmly in the roll, but the rest of the pen is below average at best. 2023 Trade bait, Josh Bell and Jake Burger will try and replace Soler in the lineup, but the key will be a healthy Jazz Chisholm Jr. If he can put a full season together with some of the bop at the top this 84 win team from a season ago could really surprise in 2024. Prediction 84-78
New York Mets
The Mets should have been better in 2023, but injuries and Buck Showalter seemingly got in the way. With former Brewers top man David Stearns taking over in the front office I look for a quick Mets turn around in the next few seasons, but alas it will not happen in 2024. They still have a solid core in the middle of the lineup with Pete Alonso and Francisco Lindor. If they are out of it the first half of the year I could see Alonso getting moved. The rest of the lineup is solid if unspectactular with a large group of career underachievers like Brandon Nimmo, Jeff McNeil and Starling Marte. It is the rotation that will drag this team down in 2024. Three new retread starters will join Jose Quintana in the rotation in Adrian Houser, Sean Manaea and Luis Severino. They would need all of them to realize full potential in order to compete. The bullpen will return 2023 injury loss Edwin Diaz to the closer role, but doesn’t feature another arm with an ERA under 4.00. Prediction 78-84
Washington Nationals
Honestly this roster overachieved in 2023 finishing with 71 wins in this division. A 16 Win increase from 2022 was much more than expected. C.J. Abrams and Lane Thomas established themselves as legitimate top of the order threats. This year they’ll bring in Joey Gallo, Eddie Rosario and Nick Senzel to try and drive them in. The rotation which is below average returns most of the same group as last year lead by Mackenzie Gore who came over in the Soto trade. If he and Josiah Gray can improve upon the free passes they could turn into aces, but I don’t see it. The bullpen is below average and will struggle again to hold leads. The Nats need to get some help from the minors, but it won’t be this year, and I doubt they can repeat the 71 wins from a year ago. Prediction 66-96

Arizona vs USC +8 O/U 156
This should be a great game to finish out the Pac 12 season. Insert tiny violin. The good news for the Wildcats is that Washington State’s loss to Washington clinched the Pac 12 regular season for these boys. Looking at this game, It’s no secret that Arizona has been a shell of themselves away from home. This team lost to Oregon State, Washington State twice and should have lost to Utah away from home. USC is playing some motivated ball. They have covered their last five games and are vying for position to move up in their conference tournament. USC has talent. Isaiah Collier has been looking like an 82+ game a year kind of player since he came back from injury. I like how USC has the height with four guys 6’10 or taller to contend with guys like Ballo and Krivas. The Trojans will have some advantages shooting the three ball ranking 67th in adjusted three point percent to Arizona ranking 80th respectively in defending it. I do not see a lot of motivation here for the Wildcats being that they could miss the number one seed even with this win. This game can’t help them. I like USC to cover this spread.

We only have three games taking place across the NHL tonight. I’ll break down a few player props to take a look at.
Player Props:
Alex Tuch over 0.5 Points (-130) – DraftKings
Alex Tuch’s season hasn’t unfolded quite as he had envisioned. Despite an impressive performance in the 2022-23 season, where he consistently averaged over a point per game, his current tally stands at 40 points through 55 games this season.
Reviewing his recent performance, Tuch has only managed a point in four out of his last ten games. Interestingly, his away games tell a different story, as he’s recorded a point in eight out of his last ten. Additionally, Tuch boasts an impressive track record against the Leafs, having earned a point in seven out of his last eight matchups against them.
Tuch finds himself on Buffalo’s top line alongside Tage Thompson and Jordan Greenway, a trio that has dominated ice time for the forward group over the past three games. Moreover, Tuch holds a key position on Buffalo’s top Power Play unit, which is expected to be active tonight given Toronto’s recent penchant for taking multiple penalties.
In terms of defensive statistics, Toronto sits at 20th in goals against per game (GA/GP), averaging 3.16. Their home record reflects a slight dip in performance, conceding an average of 3.35 GA/GP this season. Meanwhile, the Sabres have experienced a decline in offensive output compared to last year, ranking 24th in goals for per game (GF/GP) with an average of 2.94. Nonetheless, they’ve displayed greater potency on the road, averaging 3.10 GF/GP.
Ilya Samsonov is slated to start for the Maple Leafs tonight, though he’s had a challenging season with a 0.883 save percentage and a 3.23 goals-against average (GAA). In his recent five starts, Samsonov has allowed three goals or more on four occasions. Additionally, he has struggled against Buffalo historically, conceding an average of 3.75 goals against in his previous four starts against them.
This rivalry has also been characterized by high-scoring affairs, with the last seven matchups all surpassing the total of 6.5 goals.
Tage Thompson over 0.5 Points (-135) – DraftKings
Tage Thompson has been grappling with injuries throughout the year, but after the All-Star break, he seems to have returned to full health.
Analyzing his recent performance, Thompson has only managed to register a point in five out of his last ten games. Interestingly, his away games tell a different tale, as he has recorded a point in seven out of his last ten. Additionally, Thompson boasts an impressive track record against the Leafs, having earned a point in eight out of his last nine matchups against them.
Thompson finds himself on Buffalo’s top line alongside Alex Tuch and Jordan Greenway, a trio that has commanded the lion’s share of ice time for the forward group over the past three games. Additionally, he holds a crucial position on Buffalo’s top Power Play unit, which is expected to be active tonight given the Leafs’ recent trend of taking multiple penalties in their games.
This rivalry has also been characterized by high-scoring affairs, with the last seven matchups all surpassing the total of 6.5 goals.
Devon Toews over 0.5 Points (+110) – DraftKings
Devon Toews has showcased remarkable streakiness this NHL season. Observing his recent performances, Toews has notched a point in seven out of his last ten games. Particularly at home, his game has flourished, registering a point in four of his last five matchups. Additionally, Toews boasts an impressive track record against the Red Wings, having secured a point in four out of his last five encounters with them.
Toews anchors Colorado’s top defensive pairing alongside Cale Makar, commanding the majority of ice time for the defensive group over the past three games. Additionally, he plays a significant role on Colorado’s second Power Play unit, which is expected to be active tonight against the Red Wings, who have been prone to taking multiple penalties in recent games.
Detroit ranks 21st in goals against per game (GA/GP), averaging 3.20, with their road performance slightly worse, conceding an average of 3.32 GA/GP this season. On the offensive front, the Avalanche have been exceptional, leading the league in goals for per game (GF/GP) with an average of 3.65. Their home games have been particularly fruitful, averaging 4.27 GF/GP this season.
Alex Lyon is anticipated to start for the Red Wings tonight. While he has maintained a decent save percentage of 0.911 and a goals-against average (GAA) of 2.79 this season, he has struggled in his recent ten starts, allowing three goals or more on eight occasions.
Nathan MacKinnon over 1.5 Points (-130) – DraftKings
Nathan MacKinnon currently shares the lead for the most points in the NHL, boasting an impressive tally of 105 points.
Examining his recent performances, MacKinnon has recorded at least two points in seven out of his last ten games. Particularly at home, he has excelled, tallying at least two points in six out of his last seven matchups. Furthermore, MacKinnon has demonstrated notable prowess against the Red Wings, achieving at least two points in two out of his last three encounters with them
MacKinnon anchors Colorado’s first line alongside Artturi Lehkonen and Mikko Rantanen, a trio that has dominated ice time for the forward group over the past three games. Additionally, he plays a pivotal role on Colorado’s top Power Play unit, which is expected to be active tonight against the Red Wings, who have been prone to taking multiple penalties in their recent games.

This week, the PGA TOUR shifts its focus to Río Grande, Puerto Rico, for the 2024 Puerto Rico Open.
Let’s get into this week’s storylines…
Aaron Wise, the PGA Tour Rookie of the Year in 2018, is set to make his comeback after taking a hiatus for mental health reasons. His last professional event was the 2023 U.S. Open.
Among the notable participants in the field are defending champions Nicolas Echavarria (’23), Ryan Brehm (’22), Martin Trainer (’19), D.A. Points (’17), Scott Brown (’13), and George McNeill (’12). Adrien Dumont de Chassart, the 2023 Korn Ferry Tour Rookie of the Year, will also compete in this week’s event. Additionally, previous Major winners Jason Dufner and Jimmy Walker will be present at the Grand Reserve Country Club.
The “Puerto Rico Open” curse remains intact. Over the past fifteen years, only three of the previous fifteen winners have managed to secure victories on the PGA Tour after their triumph at this event. These exceptions include Viktor Hovland (2020), Tony Finau (2016), and Michael Bradley (2011, 2009). However, Bradley’s case is somewhat ambiguous since he won the event twice but failed to secure another victory on the PGA Tour after his 2011 win. As the Puerto Rico Open evolves and attracts stronger fields with burgeoning talent, we may see this “curse” gradually diminish, but its persistence remains intriguing.
Saturday: PM Showers 86 F, 10 mp/h E, 75% Humidity, 33% Chance of Rain
Sunday: Mostly Sunny 85 F, 10 mp/h E, 75% Humidity, 22% Chance of Rain
Course/ Tournament History:
The original Puerto Rico Open was played between 1956 and 1967, serving as a fixture on the PGA-sponsored Caribbean Tour until 1965. After that, sponsors moved the event to later in the calendar year. The Puerto Rico Open was resurrected as a stop on the Tour de las Américas in 2004 and 2005 before transitioning into a PGA Tour event in 2008.
Since joining the PGA Tour, this event has found its home at the Grand Reserve Country Club. Formerly known as Trump International Puerto Rico and also Coco Beach Resort, the Grand Reserve Country Club boasts two 18-hole courses: the “Championship” and the “International”. This week’s tournament will be held on the “Championship” course.
The victor of the Puerto Rico Open earns 300 FedEx Cup points and 24 Official World Golf Ranking (OWGR) points. Despite being an alternate event, the winner does not secure a spot in the Masters but does receive a two-year exemption on the PGA Tour and entry into the PGA Championship as a Tour winner.
Additionally, the Puerto Rico Open is granted eight extra sponsor exemptions. Four of these are reserved for players from Puerto Rico, the Caribbean, Central America, and South America, while the remaining four are unrestricted.
Originally designed by Tom Kite in 2006, the ‘Champion’ Course at Grand Reserve Country Club boasts a standard Par 72 layout with four Par 3’s, ten Par 4’s, and four Par 5’s.
Stretching across 7,506 yards, the Champion Course stands as one of the lengthiest courses on the PGA Tour. Drivers capable of hitting long distances will hold a notable advantage, as this week emphasizes distance over accuracy off the tee. With the rough measuring a modest 2.5 inches, it poses less of a threat, while the generous average green size of 6,500 square feet enhances the course’s playability.
This event tends to be a “birdie fest,” judging from previous winners’ scores. The primary defenses of the course lie in water hazards, which come into play on 8 holes, and the wind that blows in from the Atlantic Ocean.

The Field/ Odds:
This year’s Puerto Rico Open will see 132 players vying for victory. Despite being an opposite-field event, the competition boasts a fairly strong field. Here are the current favorites for this week’s tournament:
Rasmus Hojgaard (+1400) has kicked off the 2024 season on the DP World Tour with impressive momentum. Across his five starts, he’s consistently performed, never falling below T11. His highlight came with a runner-up finish at the Ras Al Khaimah Championship. This marks his debut appearance at Grand Reserve Country Club.
Aaron Rai (+2000) is set to debut at the Puerto Rico Open. His 2024 season commenced with a T57 finish at the Sony Open in Hawaii. However, he encountered difficulty, missing the cut in two of his next three events. Rai concluded his recent outing with a T19 finish at the Mexico Open.
Daniel Berger (+2200) made a comeback to the PGA Tour at The American Express earlier this season after undergoing back surgery. He secured a T39 finish in that event. However, subsequent tournaments saw mixed results, as he missed the cut at the Farmers Insurance Open and landed a T28 finish at the WM Phoenix Open. Last week, at the Cognizant Classic in the Palm Beaches, he missed the cut again. Notably, in his sole prior appearance at this event, he secured a T2 finish in 2019.
Ryo Hisatsune (+2500) kicked off the 2024 season impressively, securing a spot inside the top 40 in each of his initial three events. Among them, he shone with a notable T11 finish at The American Express. However, his recent outings saw a slight dip in form, as he missed the cut at the WM Phoenix Open and managed a T48 finish at the Mexico Open in his latest appearance. Notably, this marks his debut at Grand Reserve Country Club.
Chris Gotterup (+2500) faced challenges at the outset of the 2024 season. His campaign began with a missed cut at The American Express, followed by a modest improvement with a T50 finish at the Farmers Insurance Open. However, his recent performances haven’t been as favorable, as he missed the cut at the WM Phoenix Open and withdrew from the Mexico Open. Notably, in his sole appearance at the Puerto Rico Open, he impressed with a T7 finish in 2022.

Donkeys for Courses:
“Horses for Courses” is a phrase that is widely used and describes the best course/tournament fits. These are players that have had success at the particular course/event. “Donkeys for Courses” is something I came up with that highlights the players who have struggled at a specific course/tournament.

Picks (Outrights):
Chan Kim (+3000) – DraftKings
Risk: 0.27 to win 8.10 Units
Chan Kim has made a promising start to his rookie year on the PGA Tour. While he stumbled with a missed cut at the Sony Open in Hawaii, he bounced back impressively with top-20 finishes in two of his subsequent three events. Most recently, he secured a T28 finish at the Cognizant Classic in The Palm Beaches.
Although this marks Kim’s tournament debut, he has shown prowess on coastal courses in the past, notably securing a T8 finish at the Mexico Open at Vidanta and a T16 finish at the Puerto Rico Open.
Analyzing his performance among the field in the last 24 rounds, Kim boasts impressive stats. He ranks 8th in SG: Ball Striking, 11th in SG: Putting, 12th in SG: Approach, and 24th in SG: Off the Tee. Moreover, in terms of scoring, he stands out, ranking 1st in Par 5 Scoring 600-650 Yards, 4th in Par 4 Scoring 400-450 Yards, and 17th in Birdies or Better Gained. With his favorable course history and recent form, Kim emerges as a strong contender for this week’s event.
Robert MacIntyre (+3000) – DraftKings
Risk: 0.27 to win 8.10 Units
MacIntyre had a challenging start to his rookie season on the PGA Tour, missing the cut in four of his first six events. However, he has shown signs of improvement in his recent performances, securing a T6 finish at the Mexico Open and a T60 finish at the Cognizant Classic in The Palm Beaches.
While he will make his tournament debut this week, MacIntyre demonstrated his abilities at Vidanta Vallarta, a comparable course where he excelled.
With his strong tee game and improving approach play, MacIntyre appears poised to contend this week. His proficiency with long irons, a vital aspect for this event, adds to his potential. Despite struggles on the greens this season, he had his best-putting performance at the Mexico Open, which shares similar Paspalum greens.
Brandon Wu (+3500) – DraftKings
Risk: 0.23 to win 8.05 Units
Brandon Wu has showcased his proficiency in coastal conditions, delivering his best performances of the season at Waialae (T18) and at Vidanta Vallarta (T13). Notably, he has a strong track record in this event, securing a T3 finish in 2022 and a T7 finish in 2021.
Although he faced challenges with his approach play in his recent outing, Wu had previously gained strokes in four of his last five starts. If he can address this aspect of his game, he stands a good chance of contending for the title this week. Additionally, Wu has demonstrated a liking for Paspalum greens, evident from his past success on similar courses.
Austin Smotherman (+7500) – DraftKings
Risk: 0.11 to win 8.25 Units
Smotherman made a solitary appearance on the PGA Tour this season, securing a T52 finish at the Mexico Open. Despite a solid overall performance, his accuracy off the tee raised some concerns. Fortunately, precision from the tee isn’t paramount this week, and his impressive distance capabilities put him in a competitive position.
His past performances on coastal courses highlight his adaptability and potential for success. Notably, he achieved a T23 finish at the World Wide Technology Championship and claimed a T5 spot at the Mexico Open in 2023. Additionally, Smotherman clinched victory at the Abierto Mexicano de Golf in 2018, held at Vidanta Vallarta, underscoring his comfort and proficiency on similar courses.
Rico Hoey (+8000) – DraftKings
Risk: 0.10 to win 8.00 Units
Hoey encountered a rough start to the season, failing to make the cut in his initial five PGA Tour appearances. However, he managed to break the streak at the recent Cognizant Classic in The Palm Beaches, concluding with a T56 finish.
His strengths lie in his prowess off the tee and with his iron play, but his performance with the putter has been lackluster. Despite this, he demonstrates promising rankings in key categories for this week’s event, except for SG: Putting. Encouragingly, his putting has shown signs of improvement in recent outings.
In the previous season, Hoey showcased his potential with multiple top-10 finishes and a victory at the Knoxville Open on the Korn Ferry Tour. Priced at 80-1 this week, I’m hoping Hoey can somehow regain his form putting as we’ve seen it happen this season and at this event in the past.
Hayden Springer (+8000) – DraftKings
Risk: 0.10 to win 8.00 Units
Hayden Springer closed out the 2023 season impressively, securing two victories on the Mackenzie Tour (PGA Tour Canada) and earning his PGA Tour card through the Q-School Qualifier.
Although he initially missed the cut in his debut event of the season, Springer has shown improvement in his recent outings, finishing T33 at the Farmers Insurance Open and T38 at the Mexico Open.
Springer’s strength lies in his performance off the tee, where he has excelled in his limited starts, showcasing the distance needed to contend this week. Furthermore, his approach play showed signs of improvement in his last appearance at the Mexico Open. Additionally, during his time on the PGA Tour Latinoamérica, he secured top-10 finishes in Columbia, Peru, and Brazil.
Given his skill set and recent form, Springer appears to be well-suited to this course. Maximizing his opportunities on the PGA Tour will be crucial for him to maintain his card for the upcoming season.
Total Risk on Outrights: 1.08 Units
Picks (Top 20):
Parker Coody (+175) – BetMGM
Risk: 1.00 to win 1.75 Units
Parker Coody has shown promise in his rookie season on the PGA Tour, despite encountering challenges in his initial events. After a rough start with a T74 finish at the Sony Open in Hawaii and a missed cut at The American Express, he rebounded with solid performances, securing T25 at the Farmers Insurance Open and T24 at the Mexico Open. His most recent outing resulted in a T47 finish at the Cognizant Classic in The Palm Beaches.
This week marks Coody’s debut at the Puerto Rico Open, yet his performance at Vidanta Vallarta, where he finished T24, suggests he can adapt well.
In recent tournaments, Coody has demonstrated proficiency with his iron play, consistently gaining strokes on approach in his last four outings. Additionally, his short game has shown improvement in the past two events. While accuracy off the tee has posed some challenges, the wide fairways of this week’s course and its length of over 7,500 yards favor his distance-driven game. Coody has struggled on the greens this season, but his performance at events featuring Paspalum greens, such as the one at Grand Reserve Country Club, offers optimism for his putting performance.
Sam Stevens (+175) – BetMGM
Risk: 1.00 to win 1.75 Units
Sam Stevens has had a mixed start to the 2024 season, struggling to maintain consistency in his performances. While he began the season strongly with a T24 finish at the Sony Open in Hawaii, subsequent events saw fluctuating results. After the solid start, he posted a T65 finish at The American Express, followed by T43 at the Farmers Insurance Open and T28 at the WM Phoenix Open. However, his form dipped in the last two events, where he missed the cut at both the Mexico Open and Cognizant Classic in The Palm Beaches.
Despite recent challenges, Stevens has demonstrated proficiency on coastal courses in the past. Notably, he secured a T3 finish at the Corales Puntacana Championship and T15 at the Puerto Rico Open in the previous season.
Analyzing his performance metrics in the last 24 rounds, Stevens ranks favorably in several key categories. He sits 23rd in SG: Ball Striking, 23rd in SG: Off the Tee, 9th in Birdies or Better Gained, and 20th in Proximity Gained from 200+ Yards. With his distance off the tee and consistent approach play, Stevens is poised to create scoring opportunities this week. If he capitalizes on these chances, he stands a good chance of contending in the tournament.
Total Risk on Top 20s: 2.00 Units

Congrats to all Austin Eckroat backers at the Cognizant Classic in the Palm Beaches last week! After 50 starts on the PGA Tour, Eckroat was finally able to capture his first PGA Tour title.
Let’s get into this week’s storylines…
The Arnold Palmer Invitational marks the fourth signature event of the season, boasting a select field of just 69 players.
Kurt Kitayama aims to retain his title at the Arnold Palmer Invitational after securing victory in last year’s event, making a remarkable debut at Bay Hill. His performance in the 2024 season has been steady, with consistent finishes inside the top 40 in each of his initial five events.
David Ford, a junior representing the University of North Carolina, secured his spot in the field by clinching victory in a vote among his peers at the 2023 Palmer Cup. Ford, who earned recognition as the 2023 Atlantic Coast Conference Player of the Year and a first-team All-American, contributed to the victorious USA team at the Palmer Cup. Since 2017, the winning team has bestowed a vote to determine one individual who receives an exemption into the Arnold Palmer Invitational – previous recipients include Åberg and Collin Morikawa. This will mark Ford’s third appearance on the PGA TOUR. Ranked third in the World Amateur Golf Ranking, Ford participated in The RSM Classic in November alongside his twin brother, Maxwell.
Scottie Scheffler’s struggles with putting have been widely discussed throughout his career, and this season, they seem to have become even more pronounced. However, this week, Scheffler has taken steps to address the issue. He has opted for a new spider mallet putter, which is half an inch longer than his previous one. Additionally, he has eliminated the alignment line on his ball to streamline his alignment process.
Established in 1979 as a successor to the Florida Citrus Invitational, the Arnold Palmer Invitational has undergone several name changes but has been known by its current name since 2007. MasterCard assumed the role of the main sponsor in 2004 and has maintained this partnership ever since.
Bay Hill Club & Lodge has been the esteemed host of this event since its inception. Arnold Palmer acquired the club in 1970 and spearheaded a comprehensive renovation of the course in 2009. This renovation encompassed a complete overhaul of all 18 greens, extensive reworking of most bunkers, and the addition of yardage, resulting in a change in Par from 71 to 72. Renowned for its challenging layout, Bay Hill consistently attracts a formidable field of competitors on the Tour.
62, Andy Bean (Round 2, 1981), Greg Norman (Round 2, 1984), Adam Scott (Round 1, 2014)
Course Guide/ Scorecard:
Originally designed by Dick Wilson in 1961, Bay Hill Club and Lodge boasts a traditional Par 72 layout comprising four Par 3s, ten Par 4s, and four Par 5s.
Spanning a formidable 7,466 yards, Bay Hill ranks among the PGA Tour’s lengthiest courses. While distance is advantageous, precision off the tee is equally essential, with the penal 3-inch ryegrass rough demanding accuracy. The course features narrow fairways, emphasizing the significance of proficient tee shots for contenders. With an ample average green size of 7,500 square feet, the course offers a fair challenge. However, in the past, holding greens has proven challenging, primarily due to approach shots often exceeding 200 yards. This year, the greens are expected to be more receptive, benefiting from recent rainfall.
Bay Hill presents an array of hazards, including 84 bunkers, placing it 11th on the list of courses with the most bunkers players will encounter this year. Additionally, water comes into play on nine holes, ranking it ninth in water hazards on the PGA Tour. Furthermore, the forecast predicts significant wind, particularly on Saturday and Sunday, adding an extra layer of difficulty. With previous scoring averages indicating its challenging nature, Bay Hill stands as one of the toughest courses players will encounter all season.
The four Par 3’s range between 199 yards and 231 yards. In terms of stats, the majority (two) of the Par 3’s range between 200 – 225 yards. Last year, all of the Par 3’s had a scoring average over par.
No. 2, 231 yards, Par 3: From the tee the second hole appears long and demanding. It is. #2 is 231 yards from the Palmer tees. A smart shot is to favor the right side of the green. If you want you can let the slope help you onto the green. Missing the green left leaves you with a challenging up and down. Once you are on the green you must negotiate a green that tilts right to left.
No. 17, 221 yards, Par 3: The 17th hole is a par 3 that measures 221 yards from the Palmer tees. The putting surface has the beach bunker short of the green. In addition there are bunkers left and long left of the green. In front and wrapping around the right of the green there is water. A tee shot that finds the green is well played and increases your chances for a par.
There are ten Par 4’s at Bay Hill with the majority of those holes ranging between 450 and 500 yards. No. 13 is the shortest listed at 382 yards with the longest being No. 9, playing 480 yards. In terms of scoring average, the toughest Par 4 on the course last year was No. 9 (+0.384).
No. 3, 434 yards, Par 4: Hole #3 is an attractive par 4 that measures 434 yards from the Palmer tees. Finding the fairway off the tee is the first step to securing a par. There is a lake to the left of the fairway and to the right is thick rough. The green is guarded by water left and bunkers left, right and long. Two accurate shots could offer you a reasonable chance for birdie.
No. 18, 458 yards, Par 4: The 72nd hole of the Arnold Palmer Invitational Presented By MasterCard, the 18th hole is a par 4 458 yards from the Palmer tees. There is OB along the entire left side of this demanding par 4. To the right of the driving area is thick rough. Ideally, the tee shot should be played left of center. From the left side of the fairway you have options depending on the hole location. If your tee shot finds the rough the smart play is to play towards the left front of the green. If you choose to play aggressive there are bunkers left and long. If you have ever watched the Arnold Palmer Invitational you already knew about the pond guarding the front of the putting surface.
There are four Par 5s on the course, No. 4, No. 6, No. 12, and No. 16. All of these holes had a scoring average under par in 2023. The easiest hole on the course last year was No. 16 with a scoring average of 4.559.
No. 4, 561 yards, Par 5: The fourth hole is a par 5 that measures 561 yards from the Palmer tees. It plays uphill with a creek and OB running along the right side of the hole. It is reachable in two for the longest hitters. Avoid the bunker on the left side of the fairway if you choose to lay up. Regardless of whether you go for the green in two or not the left side of the green is shallow in depth. A miss to the right of the green drops off sharply leaving a difficult up and down. Accuracy is a must into this elevated target if you expect a par or better.
No. 6, 555 yards, Par 5: The 6th hole at Bay Hill is one of the most recognizable holes on the course. It is a par 5 that measures 555 yards from the Palmer tees. With three aggressive swings at conservative targets a birdie opportunity awaits. An overly aggressive swing at an aggressive target could lead to double digits. From the tee you should aim towards the fairway bunkers. If you are playing your second shot from the fairway aim towards the bunker on the right side of the fairway. The green is deep so double check your yardage for your third shot. A par or better is within reach.

There will be 69 players competing in this year’s Arnold Palmer Invitational. Forty-four of the top fifty players in the Official World Golf Ranking are in the field. Here are the current favorites in this week’s event:
Scottie Scheffler (+600) has maintained his strong performance in 2024, securing top-10 finishes in four out of his first five starts this season. The sole exception was at The American Express, where he placed T17. He is set to make his fourth appearance at Bay Hill Club and Lodge. In his previous three outings, Scheffler achieved a T15 finish in 2022, claimed victory in 2022, and secured a T4 finish last year.
Rory McIlroy (+900) concluded with a T21 finish at the Cognizant Classic in the Palm Beaches last week. In his two previous starts on the PGA Tour this season, he secured a T24 finish at The Genesis Invitational and a T66 finish at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am. McIlroy boasts an impressive track record at Arnold’s Place, having won this event in 2018. Over his nine prior appearances at Bay Hill, he has landed inside the top 15 seven times. The sole exception was in 2016 when he finished T27.
Viktor Hovland (+1200) has experienced a subdued beginning to the 2024 season following his victory at the TOUR Championship last year. His debut event of the year saw him secure a T22 finish at The Sentry. Subsequently, he concluded with a T58 finish at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am. In his most recent outing, he attained a T19 finish at The Genesis Invitational. This week marks Hovland’s sixth appearance at Bay Hill. Notably, he has delivered impressive performances at this course over the past two years, achieving a T2 finish in 2022 and a T10 finish in 2023.
Xander Schauffle (+1200) has kicked off the 2024 season impressively, securing top-10 finishes in four out of his first five starts. Notably, he achieved a T4 finish at The Genesis Invitational in his most recent outing. Despite his consistent top-10 performances, Xander has yet to secure a victory since the 2022 Genesis Scottish Open. This week marks his third appearance at Bay Hill, having attained a T24 finish in 2020 and a T39 finish in 2023.
Patrick Cantlay (+1400) is set to make his second appearance at the Arnold Palmer Invitational. Last year, he secured a T4 finish. This event marks his sixth appearance in the 2024 PGA Tour season, with three top-15 finishes in his previous five starts. Cantlay enters this tournament in solid form, having concluded with a T11 finish at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am and, most recently, a T4 finish at The Genesis Invitational.

Ludvig Aberg (+2000) – BetMGM
Risk: 0.40 to win 8.00 Units
Following a sluggish start to the season, where he secured a T47 finish at The Sentry and a T30 finish at the Sony Open in Hawaii, Aberg has demonstrated significant improvement in his recent outings. He regained his form at the Farmers Insurance Open, finishing T9, and followed it up with an impressive 2nd place finish at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am. Despite being just one stroke behind Wyndham Clark heading into the final round, the event was curtailed, denying Aberg the opportunity to vie for victory on Sunday. In his most recent appearance, he secured a T19 finish at The Genesis Invitational.
Aberg made his debut at the Arnold Palmer Invitational last year, finishing T24.
His skill set aligns well with the demands of Bay Hill. His ability to drive the ball with distance should serve him well this week. Moreover, his approach game has shown consistency, gaining strokes in each of his first five starts this season. Additionally, his performance around the green has displayed an upward trend in his recent events. Aberg’s putting continues to be a strong asset in his arsenal. Considering his recent form and promising course history, Aberg appears poised to contend for his second PGA Tour victory at Bay Hill this week.
Jordan Spieth (+2200) – DraftKings
Risk: 0.37 to win 8.14 Units
Jordan has had a solid start to the 2024 season, beginning with a commendable 3rd-place finish at The Sentry. However, he faced challenges at Pebble Beach, concluding with a T39 finish at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am. Nonetheless, he regained his stride at the WM Phoenix Open, securing a T6 finish. Unfortunately, in his most recent event, he was disqualified due to an incorrect scorecard.
When discussing “Horses for Courses,” Jordan Spieth undoubtedly stands out. Despite not yet clinching a victory at Bay Hill, he has delivered impressive T4 finishes in both of his initial appearances at the venue.
Spieth has displayed a strong affinity for this course in the past and has been in relatively good form of late. His short game remains stellar, and his play off the tee has shown marked improvement compared to last year. Additionally, his approach play has remained consistent, gaining strokes in three of his first four events. While his putting can be inconsistent at times, he has demonstrated a fondness for Bermudagrass and has consistently gained strokes on the green during his last two visits to Bay Hill.
Sam Burns (+2500) – FanDuel
Risk: 0.32 to win 8.00 Units
Sam Burns has been in sensational form this season. Although he kicked off the season with a modest T33 finish at The Sentry, he quickly rebounded and embarked on an impressive run of four consecutive top-10 finishes. His standout performance came at the WM Phoenix Open, where he secured a notable T3 finish.
However, Burns encountered difficulties at last year’s Arnold Palmer Invitational, failing to make the cut. Notably, he struggled with his iron game during that event, marking his poorest performance of the season in that aspect. Nevertheless, in previous editions, Burns achieved a commendable T9 finish in 2022.
Nicknamed “Bermudagrass” Burns, he has demonstrated a penchant for putting on Bermudagrass surfaces, with four out of his five victories occurring on this type of green. Additionally, his iron play and tee shots have shown positive trends. Although he has faced challenges in his play around the green in the past, he has shown significant improvement this season. Amongst the field, he currently ranks 1st in Bogey Avoidance, 6th in 3-Putt Avoidance, and Par 5 Scoring (550-600 Yards), all of which are crucial stats for this week’s event.
Total Risk on Outrights: 1.09 Units
Picks (Top 20):
Jason Day (+110) – BetMGM
Risk: 1.00 to win 1.10 Units
Jason Day has enjoyed a strong start to the 2024 season, securing top-10 finishes in three out of his first five events. His season commenced with a solid T10 performance at The Sentry. However, he faced a brief downturn, managing only a T34 finish at The American Express and missing the cut at the Farmers Insurance Open. Nevertheless, Day quickly regained his form, delivering impressive showings in his last two starts with a T6 finish at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am and a 9th place finish at The Genesis Invitational.
Day boasts an impressive track record at the Arnold Palmer Invitational, highlighted by his victory in 2016. Over his ten previous appearances at Bay Hill, he has secured five finishes inside the top 25.
His iron play has been particularly impressive this season, gaining strokes in four out of his first five events. Notably, he ranked 14th in Strokes Gained: Approach at both The Genesis Invitational and the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am. Additionally, his performance off the tee has been consistently strong, with positive strokes gained in every event this season. Day also excels in Par 3 Scoring (200-225 Yards) and Par 5 Scoring (550-600), positioning him well for success at Bay Hill.
Harris English (+125) – BetMGM
Risk: 1.00 to win 1.25 Units
Harris English has kicked off the season on a strong note, securing four top-20 finishes in his first six events. He commenced the year with a T14 finish at The Sentry and followed it up with a solid T10 performance at the Sony Open in Hawaii. However, he encountered a challenging stretch at the Farmers Insurance Open and the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am. Nevertheless, English has bounced back in his recent outings, securing a T17 finish at the WM Phoenix Open and an impressive 7th-place finish at The Genesis Invitational.
This week marks Harris English’s 11th appearance at Bay Hill. Out of those eleven starts, he has managed to secure a spot inside the top 10 on only two occasions. Notably, these two top 10 finishes occurred in 2020 and 2023. Last year, he delivered his best performance at this event, finishing T2, just one stroke behind Kitayama.
English’s performance off the tee has been exceptional this season, gaining strokes in five out of his first six starts. Although his approach play has been inconsistent, he showed improvement in his last event, raising hopes for continued progress. Additionally, he excels as a long iron player, a crucial skill for this week’s event. Even if he encounters trouble on his approach shots, his strong short game can compensate, as he has consistently gained strokes around the green in every event this year. Moreover, English has demonstrated a fondness for bermudagrass greens in the past.
Keegan Bradley (+140) – BetMGM
Risk: 1.00 to win 1.40 Units
Keegan has experienced a mixed start to the 2024 season. He began with a tepid performance, securing a T45 finish at The Sentry. However, he showcased his potential at the Sony Open in Hawaii, narrowly losing in a playoff to Grayson Murray. Unfortunately, he struggled to maintain that momentum in his subsequent events, finishing T43 at the Farmers Insurance Open and then achieving a T11 finish before missing the cut at The Genesis Invitational. Notably, one consistent factor in Bradley’s performance has been his putting. In each of the events where he excelled, he managed to gain strokes on the green.
As previously noted, Keegan’s putting has proven to be a significant factor in his success. Encouragingly, in his most recent three appearances at Bay Hill, he’s gained strokes putting. In these last three outings at this event, he achieved finishes of T10, T11, and T10, respectively.
Bradley’s performance off the tee and his approach play have shown positive trends in recent events. Additionally, his prowess as one of the longer hitters off the tee further enhances his suitability for the course.
Kurt Kitayama (+160) – BetMGM
Risk: 1.00 to win 1.60 Units
Kitayama aims to defend his title at Bay Hill after clinching victory in last year’s event, marking an impressive tournament debut.
Despite experiencing mixed results this season, Kitayama has managed to make the cut in each of his first five events. He commenced the season with a T29 finish at The Sentry, followed by a T24 finish at The Sony Open in Hawaii and a T39 finish at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am. His standout performance came at the WM Phoenix Open, where he secured a T8 finish. However, in his most recent start, he faced challenges on and around the greens, finishing T39.
Kitayama has faced difficulties with his putting this season, losing strokes on the green in four out of his first five events. Notably, the lone event where he gained strokes on the green, the WM Phoenix Open, featured Bermudagrass greens, similar to those at Bay Hill. Furthermore, he also gained strokes on the green in last year’s event. Kitayama demonstrates proficiency in several key categories this week, and based on his performance last year, appears poised for another strong finish in this year’s tournament.

Cincinnati vs Oklahoma +6 O/U 138.5
This should be a good game in the Big 12 today with two teams vying to make positions in the NCAA Tournament. The Bearcats have cooled off some since their big win at BYU on January 6th, but today they have a chance to make another statement win and some road revenge at Oklahoma. Believe it or not, the Sooners lost some bad home games this year to Texas and Texas Tech while only beating OK State at home by 4 points. The Bearcats have been solid away from home with wins vs USF, Texas Tech and BYU. The Bearcats are the better rebounding team ranking 7th on offense and 40th on defense. Oklahoma 131st and 61st respectively. Oklahoma at 19-10 is solidly in the NCAA tournament while Cincinnati needs this win to get back on that bubble. I’ll grab the Bearcats and the points in a do or die situation.
