White Sox vs Cubs -174 O/U 8.5
With the Wild card in reach, the Cubs have certainly brushed up on their hitting. Chicago is only 3.5 games back from first place in the division. The White Sox on the other hand are 14.5 games back with no chance at making the post season. Kyle Hendricks takes the mound today who has been wishy-washy at best at his veteran state. The speed and rotation of his pitches are down this year coming off of that bad injury. He is also only at a 3.96 ERA and a 4.2 FIP for 2023. The issue with the White Sox here is that they can’t hit righties at all ranking 2nd to last in the league vs right handed pitching. The Sox have Touki Toussaint pitching tonight who hasn’t exactly impressed over his career averaging a 5.11 ERA and a 5.15 FIP. Touki is basically a mid-relief who has to start tonight. The good news for the Cubs is that they are 5th in runs per game averaging 5.09. They are also great against right handed pitching ranking 8th in wRC+. I think the Cubs win this one but the team total has more value at -120 than the money line at -174. After the day off, you will see the Cubs getting some runs so I will take their team total over.
