Valentina Shevchenko vs Manon Fiorot -130

Fight Breakdown

Shevchenko (24-4-1) enters this bout looking to solidify her second reign as champion after reclaiming the belt in her trilogy against Alexa Grasso. Known for her elite striking, counter-fighting ability, and well-rounded skill set, Shevchenko remains one of the most dominant female fighters in UFC history. However, at 37 years old, some analysts believe she may be showing signs of slowing down.

Fiorot (12-1) has been patiently waiting for her shot at the title, earning her opportunity with a dominant win over Erin Blanchfield. The French fighter boasts an aggressive pace, strong takedown defense, and a karate-based striking style that could pose problems for Shevchenko. Fiorot has yet to taste defeat in the UFC, making her a formidable challenger.

Key Factors

  • Striking Battle: Both fighters are southpaws, meaning this matchup will be a rare clash of left-handed strikers. Shevchenko’s counter-striking and spinning attacks will be tested against Fiorot’s high-volume offense.
  • Grappling Edge: Shevchenko has a strong clinch game and takedown ability, but Fiorot’s takedown defense has been nearly impenetrable.
  • Cardio & Pace: Fiorot’s relentless pace could be a challenge for Shevchenko, who has historically controlled fights with precision rather than overwhelming volume.

Prediction:

This might be the best fight of the night.   Manon Fiorot is certainly one of the best two fighters in the women’s flyweight class.   Fiorot has been a cash machine for bettors as she is undefeated in the UFC.   On the other side of things, If Amanda Nunes is the GOAT of women’s MMA, then Valentina is GOAT B.   I am going to make this one simple, I think that Manon may have the striking and the strength advantage in this fight, but Val is maybe right behind her from a technical perspective.   I also know that Valentina has the better ground game and that is what is attractive to me.  Some say that Fiorot cannot be taken down, but she clearly hasn’t fought the likes of a wrestler like Valentina.   I do think that Shevchenko will do enough on the ground to sway the judges.  I am looking for a win by split decision if it comes to that.   Take the GOAT B because it’s a rarity that you will find her again at + money.

Valentina Shevchenko +110 – 1 star

Not a bad call to put two Canadians together being that this fight is in Montreal Canada.   Bruno Silva is mentally checked out while Jessica Andrade is also over the hills and far away.
