Oregon only out-gained Purdue 421 to 301 yet won 35-0. Horrible Red zone for Purdue and a 2-1 turnover ratio cooked the Boilers.
North Texas out-gained Middle Tennessee State 653 to 526 yet lost 52-44. A 2-0 turnover ratio did them in.
Mississippi State out-gained Texas A&M 367 to 353 yet lost 34-24. They won the turnover battle 1-2, but bad red zone efficiency got the Bulldogs.
Michigan out-gained Illinois 322 to 267 yet lost 21-7. A huge 3-0 Tuttle turnover special got the Wolverines.

2024 ZOZO Championship Preview & Picks
Last week at the Shriners Children’s Open, Davis Thompson (T5) and Taylor Pendrith (8th) were our closest outright selections. We hit one of our two Top 20 bets with Harry Hall (+175), while our other T20 pick, Seamus Power (+135), struggled failing to make the weekend.

Course/ Tournament History:
The ZOZO Championship was founded in 2019 and is the first-ever event sanctioned in Japan by the PGA Tour. In its debut, Tiger Woods took home the win and captured his 82nd PGA Tour victory, tying the all-time record set by Sam Snead. In 2020, the event was held at Sherwood Country Club in California due to the COVID-19 travel restrictions. Since then, with the restrictions lifted, it has been held again at Narashino Country Club the past two editions.
Narashino Country Club opened in 1965 and was designed by Kinya Fujita. While North American fans were first introduced to this course in 2019, many professional events have been held here. Three years after the course opened, it hosted the 1968 Japan PGA Championship. In 1977, the Japan Open took place here where Seve Ballesteros became the first non-Asian to win the event. Narashino Country Club was also the home to the Suntory Open on the Japan Golf Tour from 1974-1997.

Course Guide/ Scorecard:
Accordia Golf Narashino Country Club is a Par 70 that plays 7,079 yards. The layout is a bit unusual with five Par 3’s, ten Par 4’s, and three Par 5’s. This course also features the traditional Japanese setup of dual greens.
The five Par 3’s range between 141 yards and 205 yards. Last year, No. 5 and No. 16 were the only par 3’s to have a scoring average over par.
Hole No. 16 is a 183-yard par 3 that requires an accurate iron shot off the tee. The right side of the green is guarded by bunkers with the left protected by a small lake. The green slopes severely right to left feeding any shots that land short left into the water.
Most of the eleven Par 4’s range between 450-500 yards. No. 2 is the shortest listed at 368 yards with the longest being No. 4, just over 500 yards.
No. 12 is a downhill 490-yard par 4 that traditionally is played as a par 5. Off the tee, players will want to position themselves along the left side of the fairway giving themselves an easier shot into this challenging green. On the front left side, the green is protected by numerous bunkers. Depending on the pin location players will need a precise approach shot to avoid a difficult putt on this three-tiered green.
The three Par 5’s are No. 6, 14, and 18. No 14 is the only Par 5 that is listed over 600 yards. All three of the Par 5’s had a scoring average under par last season.
No. 14 is the longest of the Par 5’s and one of the more challenging holes on the entire course. It’s a narrow hole off the tee with tree trouble to the left and right. As players approach the green, more bunkers come into play. The green is slightly elevated sloping from the back right to the front left. If players miss on the front left side of the green, the ball will slope toward the bunker in the front.

Bengals vs Browns +5.5 O/U 48.5
What can brown do for you? Hopefully enough. I don’t think that Cleveland is a good team at all. In staying that, I also think that Cincinnati is below average. This is a rivalry game, and I do not thing that Joe Burrow and the kittens should be laying this road chalk. The Browns team shows bad in most metrics, but we also have to remember that most of those games were played without their top offensive lineman, their best running back, and their best pass catcher in TE David NJoku. Well, the offensive line is healthier, and Nick Chubb is back at running back. The Bengals have a solid offense as we know, but they also rank a pretty bad 26th in defensive EPA. They struggle stopping both the run and the pass. Even with all of Cleveland’s injuries, their defense ranks 19th in EPA. Let’s look at the history here. Over the last eight matchups between these teams, the Browns have won six of them. They won them all at home. Hold your nose, close your eyes and take the Browns.

Nebraska vs Indiana -6.5 O/U 49
Ok, riding Indiana has been quite fun this year. So was hitting their season win total over 5.5, but now I have to unfortunately look the other way. It is true that Indiana is 6-0 and 5-1 ATS, but does that warrant them being a 6.5 point favorite against a 5-1 Nebraska team that is 4-1-1 ATS? I think not. Indiana may be 6-0, but they have played nobody. Not even a team ranked in the top 66 from that standpoint. Nebraska at least had to pay a solid Illinois team who they lost to in overtime, and they had beaten a good Colorado team by margin along with beating a better than average Rutgers team before they got injuries. Now both teams are coming off of the bye, so many might assume that is equal advantage for both, but I think that it hurts the team that is undefeated and was humming just fine before they were forced into the break. Indiana has the better metrics on offense this year, but Nebraska believe it or not has the better defense ranking 10th in EPA over Indiana at 18th. The Hoosiers are high and mighty right now, but they haven’t at all been tested, and I think that this is very important to see. I know that Curt Cignetti wins, and he has proven it at James Madison along with a good start to the year, but I also know that Matt Rhule wins. Don’t believe me? Just google him.
Nebraska +6.5 – 2.5 stars
Miami vs Louisville +5 O/U 61
This might be a great game to watch on Saturday. Looking at this spread and the history between these two teams, we are going to look at the home dog right? WRONG! It is true that Miami had to come up with almost impossible comebacks to win their last two games against Virginia Tech and Cal. What is not being talked about enough is that they have the top athletes to do these things, and if this team starts well, they can keep up or pretty much beat anybody in college football. Well Louisville isn’t exactly a top team. Louisville is a solid team this year, and I have them ranked at 24th in my power ratings, but Miami is a top 7 team, and should be able to get margin off of most teams. When Louisville actually had some competition this year, they failed. A loss at Notre Dame by seven points, and a loss at home vs SMU by also seven. The issue with the Cardinal is that their passing game. This team only ranks 54th in success rate to Miami at 5th. Louisville’s biggest problem is stopping the pass ranking 67th in opponent passing EPA and 74th in opponent QBR. Miami doesn’t have a bunch of weaknesses minus Cam Ward throwing a few untimely interceptions. Tyler Shough however can also be careless with the ball. He seems to not step up in the big games. I have Miami by about 8 points on the road here. We need to thank Virginia Tech and Cal for this spread. Lay the small road chalk.
