Rob Vinciletti: Tuesday NBA Totals System Play Spurs at Rockets

Tuesday card has the NBA Western Conference Game Of The Month and a Top rated 6* NCAAB Blowout along with a powerful NHL System play. NBA Comp totals play below.

The NBA Comp play is on the Over 233 in the San Antonio at Houston game at 10:10 eastern. These two met 2 weeks ago and put up over 250. The Rockets are 5 of 5 over vs losing teams and 7 of 8 at home as well as 4 of 5 over off a 7+ day trip. The game also fits a nice 80% totals system that plays over for home teams with a 233 or higher total that are off a road loss and prior road dog win vs a team like the Spurs that are off a loss. Look for another higher scoring game here play on the over. On Tuesday we have another powerful card up and led by a 6* Top rated NCAAB Blowout, an NHL Power system play and the Western Conference Game Of the Month. See us at goldencontender@aol.com to Jump on now. For the NBA Comp play. Go with the Over in the San Antonio at Houston game. Rob V- Golden Contender Sports.

A + unit day in the NBA, even though we went 1-1. Onto Tuesday!

NBA Picks:
  • Hornets +3 *
    • Charlotte has been a really good underdog this year and I’m not totally sold that the Raptors, even at home, can slow them down enough to cover this number. Gotta take the Hornets for 1 unit.
  • Jokic over 26 pts *
    • Jokic had his way with the Pistons 2 days ago and Detroit just doesn’t have the personnel to stop him.
  • Mavs/Warriors under 210.5 **
    • The Warriors are showing good signs of defensive adjustment without Draymond on the floor recently and the Mavs are a slow team that’s been playing much better defense lately. Give me the under!
  • Rockets +3 **
    • This is a Rockets team that’s shown great signs of improvement lately, in difficult spots on the road. They’re coming into this off 4 days of rest, at home, and the Spurs truly have no identity. I’ll take Houston with the points.
NHL Tip:
  • The Flyers just CANNOT win – they’ve now lost 12 in a row and they’re on the road against a good Islanders team tonight. May want to consider a bet on NYI.
If you ever have any questions, message me here, on Twitter, or on Instagram. I will make myself available from 9am to 5pm every day, but please don’t expect an answer outside of those hours. I gotta shut it down sometimes. All picks are 1-5 stars based on unit size and confidence. 3 star picks are rare, 4-5 star picks are VERY rare. -Chris

NHL Preview & Picks – January 24th, 2022

No full write up today but I do have two plays. So lets get into them…

PICKS:

  • NEW YORK RANGERS (-150)
    • The New York Rangers will face off against the Los Angeles Kings tonight who are coming off a 3-2 win over the New Jersey Devils last night. On the season, the Kings haven’t been bad in back to back games with a 3-3 record. However, New York has been great at home all season, especially as of late. This is more of a spot bet for me, given the situation both teams are in. I don’t imagine this to be a high scoring affair as both teams do have great defensive units. That being said, New York has scored 6-6-7 in their last 3 games. This is also a revenge spot for New York as the Kings beat them 3-1 earlier this month.

  • VEGAS GOLDEN KNIGHTS/ WASHINGTON CAPITALS OVER 6.0 (-120)
    • This should be a high scoring affair between these two teams. They have been able to find the back of the net quite frequently as of late. In addition to their ability to score, both teams haven’t been great defensively. Both teams have been going over in their previous few games and I see that continuing here.

Best of luck, and as always you can find me on Twitter @GatorBetting and Instagram @Gator_Sports_Betting.

*CBB(1u): St John’s/Seton Hall OVER 151.5(-110)–8 PM CT

These teams matched up just 2 days ago in Madison Square Garden with Seton Hall squeaking by with a 6 point win. That game featured some extremely ugly offense; Seton Hall shot just 34% from the floor and turned the ball over 17 times, while the Johnnies shot just 29% from the floor. However, that output doesn’t begin to describe how each of these teams operate. Seton Hall ranks 42nd in offensive efficiency and hovers around the Top 50 in pace; the Pirates only average 11 turnovers/game. St John’s doesn’t have the prettiest offensive efficiency rating, but what keeps their offense so lethal is their maniacally fast pace(5th in the country in pace). This formula has led to St John’s scoring 80 PPG this season, including 74 against Indiana, 75 against Kansas, and 78 against UCONN. Seton Hall plays very solid defense, but I still think they are vulnerable to a poor performance tonight given their opponent’s tempo. St John’s falls outside the Top 100 in defense efficiency and can’t be trusted to get stops on the road against a really good opponent. However, I do think the Johnnies hang around in this game; the way they do that is turning this into a track meet. The performance we saw from these teams on Saturday is an outlier; I like this one to soar Over the total.

*CBB(1u): Louisville/Virginia UNDER 125(-110)–6 PM CT

Out of 358 CBB teams, Virginia ranks 358th in pace. When pairing that slow of tempo with an offense that ranks just 95th in offensive efficiency, you’re going to get some low scoring outputs; this Cavaliers team is averaging just 61 PPG in conference play. However, Louisville is even worse offensively, ranking 178th in offensive efficiency. While the Cardinals don’t move at a snails pace like Virginia, they are still outside of the Top 100 in pace and don’t go fast enough to counteract Virginia’s approach to this game. Virginia is well-coached and should bring defensive intensity in this home primetime spot. This total opened up at 121.5 before being steamed up by the public a full 3.5 points. There is no reason to bet this Over; it is going to be a low-possession game with a lot of ugly offense. This is a “first to 60 wins” type of game where the Under is the clear play.

NBA Free Pick: Pacers at Pelicans – January 24, 2022

Jonas Valancuinas

Hi All! New week, new opportunities (right, Trae?)! Here’s a free pick to start your week!

Currently on a 41-21 NBA run the last month (66%), and we’re up to +56 units this season. Hit this link to get my premium plays every day in your inbox!

Pelicans -2.5 (-110), 2 units: The Pelicans are not a good basketball team, right? Right… I mean, I think that’s right. But sometimes they can be surprisingly good. Like their opponent tonight- the volatile Indiana Pacers- New Orleans can catch NBA teams by surprise, particularly on offense. Brandon Ingram and Jonas Valanciunas are two of the most underrated players in the association. Josh Hart is a very capable forward, and Devante Graham can be explosive from the point guard position. Even without Zion, the Pelicans’ starting 5 is nothing to underestimate. Where the Pels really lack in quality is their depth. New Orleans has plenty of young, developmental talent- they’re just not quite, there yet. The Pelicans rank in the bottom 7 teams in bench scoring from game to game, heavily reliant upon their starters to remain competitive. When they do get contributions from their bench, they’re a better basketball team than pundits think. They also lead the NBA in defensive rebounding rate and they’re 3rd overall in rebounding ratio, a less-celebrated stat that can result in dominant performances. They have a significant advantage at the rim tonight against a team that’s limping into this contest.

Insert the Indiana Pacers. If a team could be diagnosed with “split personality disorder,” I’m thinking the Pacers would earn that stigma. Indiana is as unpredictable as it gets, full of scoring talent and solid enough depth to go toe-to-toe with the best squads in the NBA. Yet, unsurprisingly at this point, they’re 17-30 on the season and solidly in 4th place in the East Central Division. Rumors of a complete overhaul have been circulating for weeks (never good for team chemistry or confidence), with many predicting that the Pacers will look very different after the trade deadline. And even if all of that wasn’t true heading into tonight’s matchup, the Pacers are very banged up right now. Their primary scorers: Domantas Sabonis, Myles Turner, and Malcom Brogdon, are all expected to be out tonight. Caris LaVert is also a game-time-decision. They’re also a horrid 5-18 on the road, YIKES!

Brandon Ingram is out tonight for the Pelicans, which isn’t ideal, but look for player props on Jonas Valanciunas- he’ll have an irregular load to carry in Ingram’s absence. Regardless, the spot is too good for the Pelicans to let down and in ideal situations, they usually don’t disappoint. The Pels have won their last 3 games at home and they’re 4-1 ATS as a home favorite- I’m on New Orleans to cover for 2 units.

Premiums, 1.24

Hi All! Weird day in the NBA but whatever – how about them NFL playoffs!? I wish we did better in our bets but it’s hard to hate on such an entertaining weekend. At least our 3 star pick hit! Onto a new week and more wins!

NBA Picks:
  • Cavs -7 *
    • This is a big line, right around my number, but I love the spot for Cleveland. NYK is off a back-to-back, they’re banged up, and last time these two teams met the Cavs dominated on the boards and won by margin. I don’t see much changing here tonight.
  • Pelicans -2.5 *
    • All the Pacers’ best scorers are out for this game and the Pelicans have won their last 3 home games against good competition. New Orleans isn’t as bad as their record suggests – all Pelicans for me.
  • Tip: Look for Valanciunas points or points/rebounds props over – he’ll need to be featured with B. Ingram on the sidelines tonight
NFL Lookaheads:
  • Bengals +7 – I lean the Bengals side right now and there’s a chance this line falls– if you really like Cincinnati, you might want to take it now.
-Chris

January 23rd NBA Free Play

Nets' stars Kyrie Irving and James Harden walking together.

*NBA(1u): Nets 1H +1.5(-110) @ Timberwolves–7 PM CT

Minnesota enters this game off of 3 days rest; while some might think that is an advantage, oftentimes teams play worse in that first game off of extended rest. Once you get into the swing of the season, having a break in your schedule can have a tendency to throw off your rhythm, particularly on the offensive end of the floor. I’m not as sold on this team as most. In particular, this T-Wolves offense ranks just 22nd in offensive efficiency. Brooklyn seems to be turning a corner after losing Kevin Durant to a knee injury, with Kyrie Irving and James Harden seemingly gelling together nicely over the past few games. Brooklyn comes into this game off of 2 straight road wins and hasn’t played a back-to-back in over 10 days. I think the Timberwolves struggle to get things going offensively early in this game and that Brooklyn continues to improve with Kyrie and James Harden now leading the way. I’ll take the point-and-a-half in the 1st Half as insurance, although I think Brooklyn heads into Halftime with the lead.
