Maeda has allowed 3 or more runs in 5 of his last 6 starts. He is 0-4, 6.16 ERA in his last 7 starts. August has been his worst month over his career with ERA of 5.00. Maeda has a 4.54 career ERA vs ARI and 5.24 ERA against them over his last 5 starts. The most glaring stat is that LA has lost 6 of the last 7 games Maeda has started vs ARI.

Atlanta vs Miami – Run Line

The Braves are playing the worst team in the National League and this one is really all about the stats. The Braves have their best Pitcher Mike Soroka on the mound boasting a 2.45 ERA and 1.11 WHIP while the Marlins have Sandy Alcantara with his 4.5 ERA and 1.47 WHIP. I’d call that a mismatch. The Braves are 5th in the league in On base Percentage at .338 while the Marlins are dead last at .338 Braves are 4th in runs and Marlins are dead last. No huge reason to go on here. The best thing the Marlins can do is to move up in the draft at this point in the season. Take the Braves on the run line.

St Louis Cardinals @ Los Angeles Dodgers

The Cardinals look to bounce back here as they’ve lost their last 3 and are just 4-6 in their last 10. The Dodgers on the other hand have won their last 3 games and are 7-3 in their last 10.

Unfortunately for the Cardinals, they are sending Miles Mikolas to the mound. Mikolas is sporting a 6.75 ERA on the road. He’s also giving up 2.09 HR’s per 9 innings on the road. His last 3 road starts he’s given up 5 runs in 4 innings to the Giants, 3 runs in 6 innings to the Reds and 3 runs in 6 innings to the Pirates. He’s going to have a much better effort here as the Dodgers have hit the third most home runs in the MLB.

The Dodgers will counter with Clayton Kershaw. Kershaw has a 2.35 ERA at home. He is giving up less than 1 home run per 9 innings and has about a 9/2 K to BB ratio. He also hasn’t allowed more than 2 runs in a start since the end of June. The Cardinals offense has been pretty stagnant lately as well scoring only 5 runs in their last 3 games.

I think the play here is pretty clear and straight forward. This line implies a 56.5% probability that it will hit. I think this should be more like 65%, which would make the line closer to -186 where the full game line is. I’m pounding the value here.

Athletics vs Cubs O/U 10.5 Runs

We have been on fire lately in baseball and why slow down now! Fair warning is that I am going against the money here. Everyone is looking at the forecast seeing 10 MPH winds blowing out to right field making people bet the over. Well I think this thing got a little to high with pitchers like Kyle Hendricks is boasting a 3.07 ERA and 1.12 WHIP. Chris Bassitt isn’t too shabby either at 3.84 ERA but a 1.17 WHIP. Kyle hasn’t given up 3 runs at home since June 4th this year. More importantly, cubs players are dropping like flys to injuries such as Kris Bryant Banged up, Craig Kimbrell and Wilson Contreres. Checking another wind site it looks like it is more blowing sideways to the right field foul line rather than straight out. This is also a let down spot for the Cubs after sweeping the BrewCrew. I don’t want to fade the Cubbies at home but the under is now in play for me.
