Browns vs Saints +1 O/U 44.5

This is a good betting game today, but the metrics will not tell you that.   These two teams might have been the most injured teams in all of the country minus maybe the Dolphins and Rams.   The best thing to go by here is situation.   The Saints have gotten a little healthier over the past few weeks, but they still do not have one of their top two receivers.   The Browns are the healthiest that they have been all season, yet they traded the top wide receiver to Buffalo.   The running game is where I have to focus.   The Saints even when healthy cannot stop the run ranking 31st in opponent rush EPA.  Now that the Browns have Chubb back, he should have a field day in New Orleans.   The Saints also are most likely missing LB Pete Warner along with a bunch of offensive line.  From a quarterback perspective, the Browns have actually upgraded by going to Jameis Winston compared to what DeShaun Watson did before his injury.   Derek Carr isn’t exactly much better, and the wild card is that Jameis will want to put down a great performance against his old team.   The Saints traded away their best cornerback in Marshawn Lattimore, and I think that it will show today.  I also like the fact that Cleveland is off of the bye.  take the Browns on the ML.

Browns ML -120 – 2.5 stars

Teaser:   Dolphins to -1 with the Texans to -1.5 – 2.5 stars.  Dolphins fighting for playoffs.   Finally healthy.   Cowboys are toast and should have some quit in them.

USF vs Charlotte +2.5 O/U 53

This is a good betting game for the weekend slate.   Neither team is bowl eligible, but the 49ers are fighting for their lives having to win the last three.  The reason that USF is favored here is due to their defense.  In saying that, I think that their numbers are inflated some. It is true the bulls rank 41st in defensive success rate, but their strength of schedule only ranks 79th compared to Charlotte who ranks 55th.  USF ranks 78th in defensive EPA while Charlotte ranks 91st.  On Offense, both teams are bad ranking 118th for USF and 120th in success rate for Charlotte.   No real advantage there.  Yards per play is close to equal as they are both around a net -.8.  What I like about Charlotte here is that they just had to play three very rough games against the top three in the ACC in Navy, Memphis and Tulane.  They are also coming off of the bye week with time to fix some of those turnover issues.  I think the spot screams Charlotte here while South Florida may still be on their backup quarterback.  Take the 49ers.

Charlotte +2.5 – 2 stars

Tennessee vs Georgia -9.5 O/U 48.5

Sometimes you have to use almost the exact same handicap as you did the week before.   We are in that spot again, except with a much larger point spread.  What would the line be last week on Ole Miss if they were playing Tennessee at home?  Maybe six or seven points?  Georgia is laying a lot here and I do not think that it is warranted.  Just like last week, I have to say that the Bulldogs have two advantages here.  Coaching is number one and strength of schedule is number two.  In saying that, Tennessee, like Ole Miss, also has better numbers than Georgia.  The Vols have a .79 net yards per play advantage over the Bulldogs.  The Vols rank 22nd in offensive success rate and 46th in offensive EPA while the Dogs rank 33rd in offensive success rate and 44th in offensive EPA respectively.  On defense, the Vols rank number 2 in success rate and number 4 in defensive EPA.  The Bulldogs rank 14th and 20th respectively.   Imagine wearing a blindfold to the actual team names here to not see that it’s Georgia hosting Tennessee.  Would that make a difference in choosing to take over seven points?   The Dogs are 2-7 ATS thus far.   I have to keep rolling against them Dogs and take the Vols.

Oregon State vs Air Force +3.5 O/U 45.5

This is a nice under-the-radar game to bet on for Saturday.   Service academies are always the same.  When there isn’t much change, they are solid bet on teams after week 3 or so.  When there is change, they are big fade teams for 3/4 of the season.  Well, now we are past that, and it’s time to grab some value.   Since losing to New Mexico back in early October, the Falcons have improved that defense only allowing 21 to Colorado State, 20 to Army, and 28 to Fresno State where they won that game.   Their rush defense has improved some.   Oregon State on the other hand has still been hot garbage since they lost everyone last season.  This team can’t buy a win in the mountain west since early against Colorado State.   They cannot stop the run ranking 119th in defensive rushing success rate and 119th in opponent rush EPA.   This is a simple control the time of possession and stop the other team spot.   Use the force.

Tonight’s NHL slate is loaded with action, with ten games scheduled across the league.

Whether you’re a seasoned bettor or new to the world of NHL wagering, today’s games present numerous enticing angles, including moneylines, puck lines, and prop bets. With teams eager to establish their early-season identities, there’s plenty to consider. Let’s explore the top matchups and uncover the best bets for tonight’s action!

Picks/ Props:

New Jersey Devils @ Florida Panthers

  • Florida Panthers (-160) – BetMGM

These teams just faced off on Tuesday, with the New Jersey Devils taking a 4-1 win despite being outshot 35-23. Jacob Markstrom (NJD) and Spenser Knight were the goaltenders in that game, with Markstrom finishing at +2.65 Goals Saved Above Expected (GSAx) and Knight at -0.44 GSAx. Tonight, Sergei Bobrovsky will start for Florida, while Jake Allen is in net for New Jersey. Interestingly, the Devils have struggled at home this season with a 4-3-2 record, while Florida has excelled on the road at 6-2-0. Given Florida’s overall strength, they have a solid chance to bounce back tonight against a team that recently bested them.

San Jose Sharks @ New York Rangers

  • Mika Zibanejad over 2.5 Shots on Goal (-135) – DraftKings

Zibanejad is currently skating on New York’s top line with Kreider and Smith and also plays on the Rangers’ top power-play unit.

In his last five games, Zibanejad has hit his shots-on-goal target three times, averaging 2.4 shots on goal and 4.0 shot attempts per game. He’s been particularly reliable at home this season, surpassing 2.5 shots on goal at a 62.5% rate compared to just 16.7% on the road.

San Jose ranks 31st in the league for shots on goal allowed per game, averaging 34.2. Breaking it down further, the Sharks have allowed the 5th most shots on goal per game to forwards this season (22.69).

Winnipeg Jets @ Tampa Bay Lightning

  • Victor Hedman over 2.5 Shots on Goal (-105) – DraftKings

Hedman is currently skating on Tampa Bay’s top defensive unit with J.J. Moser and also plays on the Lightning’s top power-play unit.

In his last four games, Hedman has hit his shots-on-goal target three times, averaging 3.0 shots on goal and 5.25 shot attempts per game. He’s been particularly reliable at home this season, surpassing 2.5 shots on goal in three of his last five games.

Winnipeg ranks 19th in the league for shots on goal allowed per game, averaging 29.4. Breaking it down further, the Jets have allowed the 6th most shots on goal per game to forwards this season (9.07).

St. Louis Blues @ Buffalo Sabres

  • Rasmus Dahlin over 2.5 Shots on Goal (-168) – DraftKings

Dahlin is currently skating on Buffalo’s top defensive unit with Bowen Byram and also plays on the Sabres’ top power-play unit.

In his last five games, Dahlin has hit his shots-on-goal target in each game, averaging 3.4 shots on goal and 7.20 shot attempts per game. He’s been particularly reliable at home this season, surpassing 2.5 shots on goal in each of his last five games.

St. Louis ranks 24th in the league for shots on goal allowed per game, averaging 30.3.

Boston Bruins @ Dallas Stars

  • Tyler Seguin over 0.5 Point (-110) – DraftKings

Seguin is set to face his former team tonight. He has recorded a point in six of his last seven games and currently skates on Dallas’ second line with Mason Marchment and Matt Duchene. Seguin also sees time on the Stars’ second power-play unit, which should have ample opportunities tonight. Dallas ranks 13th in goals per game, averaging 3.21, while the Bruins rank 21st in goals against per game, allowing an average of 3.18. Boston’s defense has shown some vulnerability recently, conceding at least three goals in three of their last four games.

Nashville Predators @ Edmonton Oilers

  • Connor McDavid over 3.5 Shots on Goal (-110) – DraftKings

McDavid is currently skating on Edmonton’s top line with Nugent-Hopkins and Hyman and also plays on the Oilers’ top power-play unit.

In his last three games since returning from injury, McDavid has hit his shots-on-goal target twice, averaging 4.67 shots on goal and 8.0 shot attempts per game. He’s been particularly reliable at home this season, surpassing 2.5 shots on goal in three of his last four games.

Nashville ranks 18th in the league for shots on goal allowed per game, averaging 29.4.
