Washington vs USC +3.5 O/U 76.5

  • Ok, I was one of the folks saying that USC was overrated since the start of the year.   That was certaintly true, but it doesn’t mean that Washington should be laying past three points here to them on the road.
  • The Trojan’s defense has been their big crutch so far this year ranking 68th in success rate, but the Huskie’s defense quietly ranks worse at 98th in success rate.
  • Washington has a 1.12 net yards per play advantage over USC, I could easily argue that USC has played the rougher schedule thus far going to Notre Dame, ASU, Colorado and Cal while Washington went to Michigan State, Arizona when their new quarterback had just gotten their feet wet, and at Stanford last week.
  • Michael Penix has been a fantastic quarterback for the Huskies and he hasn’t made that many mistakes, but his stats are not much better than Caleb Williams who won the Heisman last year and has plenty of weapons on offense.
  • Another big weakness for the Husky defense is that they do not get sacks only ranking 126th in that department while USC ranks 26th.   This should allow Caleb Williams to work.
  • I could see many ways that USC covers this spread.

Usc +3.5 – 2.5 stars

Liberty -14 – 2 stars – This line moved too much.   LA Tech is garbage and cannot stop the run.   Liberty should feast and keep that undefeated streak rolling.
