Colorado St heads to Laramie for a Friday night CLASH

Man, I missed writing my articles, getting my opinion out there. Albeit I have been wrong more than right, but only good bettors can own up to their losses instead of backing away or blaming the refs or bad luck. We all experience it, we all go through it, it’s part of the process. I can tell everyone reading this from my experience, the day you stop blaming the refs, is the day you start visualizing these games better without a bias. It’s helped me tremendously this year, and honestly has made watching sports more fun. Instead of immediately jumping into the thought process “oh the refs are out to screw me”, newsflash they’re NOT. Now do they bet, do they make some unflappable decisions that can’t be defended, are there ever ulterior motives (AE: Dolphin-Eagles game)? Well, let’s save that conversation for a different day, but we can most definitely all agree on one thing, THEY SUCK most of the time! Get over it, accept it and move on. I promise you it’s well worth it. Now enough with my soap opera on all that non-sense, onto the real reason you’re reading this. Why I love the Cowboys of Wyoming tonight?

It all starts with Wyoming head coach Craig Bohl, the man just knows how to win on Friday nights. In the last 5 years on Friday’s under Bohl’s operation, the Cowboys are 5-2 SU and 6-1 ATS. With the lone ATS loss on black Friday last year where your preparation is nowhere near the same as opposed to the middle of the season. They have also won outright as dogs the last 3 seasons, as well as 3-0 SU and ATS at home. I’m usually not one for trends on a certain day of the week, but Friday night football is just different. Your thought process, your preparation, your mindset as a player and as a coach is just straight up different. Then you throw in the process as a student athlete, and it makes it even more complicated. We can talk about the X’s and O’s all day long on these two teams, but at the end of the day the team that is more prepared for these Friday night games is usually victorious. Now some will say, doesn’t that apply to every game? Well, yes and no, but I do know it has a more drastic effect on Friday’s. We should play a drinking game with this article; every time I say “ref” or “Friday” you must take a shot. Haha just kidding.

Look, Bohl has always been known for his defenses so why are their numbers so bad versus the run this year? Well, when you have Texas, Boise, and Air Force on your schedule, I would imagine they won’t be great. Luckily for them CSU hates to run and when they do, it’s unsuccessful. I mean, they only managed 112 yards versus Utah Tech and are averaging 2.9 YPC in 2023, gross. Which means CSU QB Fowler-Nicolosi will be airing it all over the field, like he has tried to do many times this year. Facing a stingy Wyoming pass defense could mean he will be in for a long night. With Wyoming ranking 29th in the country in YPA at 6.5 yards.

On offense look for Wyoming to ride Junior RB Harrison Waylee, who was having a tremendous season before his injury October 7th. He did make his comeback versus Air Force last week, only to be denied for all 4 quarters, but let’s be honest Air Force is GOOD! I believe he will revert to his earlier 2023 form getting to face a run defense who are giving up 171 yards per game and almost 6 yards per rush. Now while the same could be said about CSU facing run heavy offenses, Utah State ran for 252 on them earlier this season is all I needed to look at.

Let’s back the Cowboys tonight in Laramie, laying the 6 points with a strong unit upgrade!
