Saints vs Cowboys -6 O/U 46.5

There isn’t much better than over-reaction week, and I think this line fits in perfectly.   The Saints aren’t a bad team per-say, but lets face it.  They aren’t average, and if you think that they are average, then you haven’t watched Derek Carr play a lot of football.   The Panthers got beat bad last week, but it was more about just being in bad positions and the randomness of football itself.   The Panthers needed a pass rush last week and didn’t have one.   One thing that the Cowboys do best on defense is a pass rush.   Micah Parsons is a complete animal, and he will get to Derek Carr.   The Cowboys offense really hasn’t lost a beat.   Their only issue is that TE Jake Ferguson will miss the game, but backup TE Luke Schoonmaker is a solid replacement player.   Wideouts CeeDee Lamb and Brandin Cooks will be cooking the Saints defense as cornerback Marshon Lattimore is banged up, and Safety Tyrann Mathieu is far past his prime.   The Saints also lost some of their depth at linebacker as D’Marco Jackson is out, and Jaylan Ford is questionable.  DT Khalen Saunders is also out that should hurt the Saints run defense.   I think that the Cowboys should be able to roll this team at home.   I have this game Cowboys -8.   Take dem boys and lay dem points.

Cowboys -6 – 2 stars

Steelers vs Broncos -2.5 O/U 36.5

It looks like Justin Fields will once again get the nod at quarterback today for the steel machine.  There is a lot of variance with Justin which makes it tough to bet on the side, but it also makes the total more interesting.   Fields will make some big plays on the ground with his feet.  He also has some pretty good wide-outs to throw too.   The big thing that Steelers fans have to worry about with fields is the turnovers.  Last year, Fields fumbled the ball 10 times, and he also was picked off 9 times.   Denver on the other hand has a terrible defense, and we saw all of that last week in Seattle.   In 2023, this team ranked 25th in defensive EPA and that was before they lost some of their great players this year to free agency.  I expect the Steelers to put up 20 points.   On the other hand, Bo Nix in his small preseason sample size showed that he is actually quite a capable quarterback.  He knows how to make some plays with his arm as well as his legs.   He also has some pretty good playmakers at WR with Courtland Sutton and Josh Reynolds.   With the Broncos at home, this total is just too small for this game.   Any special teams touchdown or pick six blows this wide open if needed.  Take the over.

Sean O’Malley vs Merab Dvalishvili +115

This should be a wonderful fight as the champion Sugar Sean O’Malley faces the Machine Merab Dvalishvili.   Look at the age difference, O’Malley has Merab by about 4 years being only 29 years old with Merab at 33.  Sean also has the height advantage at this 135 bamtam weight class at 5’11 to 5’6 respectively.  You have to give the striking ability to O’Malley with a 72 inch reach and an amazing 7.63 significant strikes per minuite to 4.5 for Merab.   For all of these reasons, Sean is the favorite.   Why such a low favorite though at -135?   I’ll tell you right now.  Out of all of the fighters that Sean has beaten, not one has the wrestling skills and the forward pressure that Merab has.   At 6.43 takedowns per minute, Dvalishvili has the best skills in the game getting guys to the ground, as well as a heck of a hard ground and pound.  I think control will be the big factor in this fight.   I see Merab Dvalishvili not letting Sean O’Malley stay on his feat.  I suspect this fight goes the distance with Merab crowned the new champion.

Alabama vs Wisconsin +16 O/U 50.5


This might be the game of the week even though Wisconsin has looked pretty bad against a Western Michigan team who just got destroyed by Ohio State  They also looked incompetent against a FCS South Dakota team.   The Badgers only won by 14 points a piece in these games.   Alabama on the other hand destroyed a Western Kentucky team who was ranked second in most conference USA rankings and they took care of business against South Florida 42-16.   Now Alabama should destroy Wisconsin right?   Well I am not so sure about that.  That is now how College football works.   In Wisconsin’s two wins, they played against some serious motivation.  Western Michigan played an almost perfect game against the Badgers and still ended up losing by double digits.   South Dakota is ranked higher than 29 other FBS teams on Sagarin, and they won their first game by 40 some points.  If you actually watched the Alabama/USF game, you would see that Jalen Milrow wasn’t all that great.   This game was literally a one score game until late into the 4th quarter when the Tide finally pulled away after the Bulls gave in.  If you look at efficiency, Wisconsin wasn’t all that bad ranking 55th in yards per point on offense and 37th on defense.  I could also argue that Wisconsin has faced better defenses than Alabama has thus far.  Alabama quarterback Jalen Milrow has some great legs, but he struggles sometimes to pass the ball as we saw last year vs Auburn and Texas A&M.  An interesting stat from Gary Segars on the Bet US show.  Alabama is only 4-8 as a double digit road favorite since 2021.   I think that there are reasons for that.  It is hard to go into Camp Randall and play well as a favorite.  I have seen it fail so many times.  The kids in Wisconsin have been waiting for this game.   I have Alabama an 8 point favorite here on the road.   I will take the Badgers to keep it close.


Wisconsin +16 – 2 stars


Boston College vs Missouri -14.5 O/U 52


This should actually be a fun game to watch.  As we all know, Boston College beat Florida State during week 1.  They didn’t just beat them, they slaughtered them.   Now they go on the road to face a very very good Missouri team.   Now the big question is, how real is Florida State this year?   We might find that out this week against Memphis.  I didn’t want to get too excited and upgrade Boston College too much until we know more information.  In staying that, I am not interested in the side in this game.   I like the Total.  Bill O’Brien is the new coach this year for the Eagles.  He is an offensive mind who likes to play fast football.  Missouri on the other hand knows how to play fast football as this team is averaging 83 plays per game at 21.46 seconds per play.  Missouri had a good defense last year, but they lost their defensive coordinator Blake Baker to LSU and six starters to graduation and the NFL.  I think that we see some points here in this game.   I believe that Mizzu can put up 40 on this Boston College defense while I just need 14+ from the Eagles on offense.   I could see this game around 42-20.   Take the over.

Arizona vs Kansas State -7.5 O/U 61


This should be a fun game in Manhattan Kansas as the wildcats show up as over seven point dogs.  Which Wildcats you ask?  Oh, Arizona of course!  Is this number correct?   I really do not think so.  Arizona took care of business with ease against their first opponent in New Mexico, but last week against NIU, they definitely let down some.   I am not going to completely overreact to that as Arizona greatly out-gained the Lumberjacks, and should have scored more in the Red Zone.   The bigger issue for me is the Kansas State side of things.  They got a cake walk against Tennessee Martin in their first game, and then they struggled mightily against a completely rebuilt Tulane team where they were out-gained 491 to 396 and should have not even won that game due to a horrible pass interference call.   If Tulane can put up those kind of yards against Kansas State, what do you think Noah Fifita and Tetairioa McMillan will do do this team?   Arizona has one of the best offenses in this league, currently at 8.82 yards per play, and I expect them able to back door anyone in the big 10 in a dog role like this.   My power number has Arizona +5.5 dogs.   Take the red colored Cats and sprinkle the money line.

Take (104) Miami D  olphins -130 [MONEYLINE] over Buffalo Bills (9/12 Thursday Night Football @ 8:15p.m. EST) Interesting matchup here. Both teams are coming off wins, and perhaps wins that they did not deserve. This was especially true with the Dolphins. Both teams failed to cover the spread with the Bills -7 winning by 6, and the Dolphins -3.5 winning by 3 (We did cash in with Jacksonville +3.5 there for a premium selections). When it comes to Buffalo; I do believe they had some unfortunate variance in that game. They allowed the Cardinals to score 28, but there was a kick-off returned for a TD, as well as allowing a 53% conversion on third downs. For what it’s worth, the Bills only managed 33% when it came to their 3rd down conversions. They did look good offensively as a whole, especially the one-man show that is Josh Allen (2 Passing TD, 2 Rushing TD). Now, as for Miami – they looked horrible against the Jags in my opinion. The box score showed a better second half, but anyone watching that game would have seen it was just as much Jacksonville shooting themselves in the foot as it was Miami pulling off the win. Having said that; a win is a win and that has to count for something. I was not impressed with the Dolphins as a whole, but I do expect them to clean things up in Week 2 here. They should utilize Jaylen Waddle more early and often to free things up for Tyreek Hill. Waddle was actually 5/5 with his catches in Week 1 and should get more targets here. Tua had a rough performance going 23/37 with his passes for just one touchdown, and we expect him to bounce back extremely well. This is still one of the most potent offenses in the league. Now; the facts are the facts and Miami managed to go a perfect 3-0 last season both SU and ATS when playing a home-home split with no travel in between. The average score differential in those games was 8.3 points per game in those situations. The Bills struggled on the road last season going 4-4 SU, and 3-5 ATS. This included going 1-2 SU and ATS as road dogs. We should also note that they went just 2-4 ATS last season when on a home-road travel spot, and this isn’t the best travel spot for them here on a short week. In my opinion, the market is lower on Miami than it is Buffalo this week, and that is providing us with a solid buy-low opportunity. The spread is a little close for me, but I do see value on the moneyline here at -130.
