Saints vs Colts +2 O/U 43.5

So this game is interesting.   The Colts got jobbed last week but the zebras and everyone knows that, but this does not mean that it is a get up spot.  I actually look at it more as a let down.   The Saints are a team that can move the ball, but seem to choke in the Red Zone.  Not today.  The Colts will allow the Saints to score only ranking 23rd in opponent red zone success.   I also do not trust Garner Minshew in a starting roll this year.   I have the Saints Power rated higher than the Colts and we have an official in Craig Wrolstad who tends to favor away teams.

Saints -2 – 2 stars

Oregon vs Utah +6.5 O/U 48

This should be a wonderful game that could really set the tone in the Pac 12.  Utah is coming off of a big win at USC while Oregon is coming off of a win but no cover against a meddling Washington State team.  This handicap is interesting because now we know Cam Rising will not come back this year and it’s up to QBs Bryson Barns and Nate Johnson to keep on trucking.  Now the matchup to watch is Oregon’s number 2 passing offense vs Utah’s number 2 passing defense in success rate.   Can Utah slow this Duck’s offense down?   Does a bear crap in the woods?   Yes, I think both.   Oregon’s crutch if they have any is ranking 56 in opponent rushing success rate.  I can see Utah draining clock and moving the ball on the ground.  Most Public Power ratings have Oregon by 7 points or so, but it is missing one key to this handicap, and that is Bo Nix and Danny Lanning on the road.  Oregon has a massive 3.0 net yards per play, but that number goes down to 1.6 on the road.   Utah has a zero in net yards per play, but it goes up to .6 at home.  Utah’s schedule has been MUCH harder as they have played Florida, UCLA, Oregon State and USC while Oregon has only played at Washington while we found out that Washington State was fake news.  Since 2012, Utah is 42-28-1 ATS at home at 60%.  Don’t be scared this Halloween and take the Ute’s at home.

Utah +6.5 – 2.5 stars

Arkansas State vs ULM -2 O/U 56.5

I like the Louisiana Monroe Here.   They have a small net yards per play advantage over Arkansas State of .25.  Neither offense is all that good, but the key here for me is that ULM has had the rougher schedule in my opinion opening up with App State whom they lost to by 1 point, South Alabama who is close to the top of this conference, and some hard fought games at Texas State losing by one and at Georgia Southern.  Arkansas State’s hardest conference game was against Troy losing by over 30.  Monroe’s defense is better against the run and the pass while their offense is much better at running the ball at 4.7 yards per rush to 4.1 respectively.  Lastly the coach, I like Terry Bowden a heck of a lot more than Butch Jones.  ULM needs this conference win.  My power ratings have the Warhawks by 6.25.  I’ll take the -2.5

NHL Player Props to Target – October 27th, 2023

We have six games taking place across the NHL tonight. I’ll break down a few player props to take a look at.

 

Player Props to Target:

  • Jack Eichel over 3.5 Shots on Goal (-130) – PointsBet/ BetRivers
    • Eichel has gone over this number in four of his last five games. During that span, he’s averaging 5.4 shots on goal and 7.0 shot attempts per game.
    • Chicago currently ranks 31st in shots on goal allowed per game averaging 36.29. On the road, that number jumps up to 37.40. They’ve also given up the 5th most shots on goal per game to Centers.
    • In three of his last four matchups against the Blackhawks, Eichel has recorded over 3.5 shots on goal.

 

  • Sebastian Aho over 2.5 Shots on Goal (-155) – BetMGM
    • Aho has gone over this number in four of his last five games. During that span, he’s averaging 3.2 shots on goal and 5.8 shot attempts per game.
    • San Jose currently ranks 32nd in shots on goal allowed per game averaging 37.57. They’ve also given up the most shots on goal per game to Left Wingers.
    • In each of his last three matchups against the Sharks, Aho has recorded over 2.5 shots on goal.

 

  • Mats Zuccarello over 2.5 Shots on Goal (+105) – BetMGM
    • Zuccarello has gone over this number in three of his last five games. During that span, he’s averaging 2.5 shots on goal and 5.2 shot attempts per game.
    • Washington currently ranks 8th in shots on goal allowed per game averaging 28.50. However, at home, that number jumps up to 30.67. They’ve also given up the 4th most shots on goal per game to Right Wingers.
    • In three of his last four matchups against the Capitals, Zuccarello has recorded over 2.5 shots on goal.

 

  • Pierre-Luc Dubois over 2.5 Shots on Goal (-135) – DraftKings
    • Dubois has gone over this number in four of his last five games. During that span, he’s averaging 3.0 shots on goal and 4.6 shot attempts per game.
    • Arizona currently ranks 20th in shots on goal allowed per game averaging 30.83. However, at home, that number jumps up to 33.00. They’ve also given up the 12th most shots on goal per game to Centers.
    • In each of his last eight matchups against the Coyotes, Dubois has recorded over 2.5 shots on goal.

 

  • Quinn Hughes over 2.5 Shots on Goal (+108) – Caesars
    • Hughes has gone over this number in four of his last five games. During that span, he’s averaging 3.6 shots on goal and 8.8 shot attempts per game.
    • St. Louis currently ranks 25th in shots on goal allowed per game averaging 32.83. They’ve also given up the 4th most shots on goal per game to Defensemen.
    • In two of his last three matchups against the Blues, Hughes has recorded over 2.5 shots on goal.

I like Wyoming more now that I am reading that Waylee at HB appears to be playing.

Boise St does run the ball well. Wyoming has not been great against the run. But Green at QB for Boise is a better runner than he is a passer. Green completes just 53% of his passes.

Wyoming’s defense #17 in yards per pass allowed and and Boise St offenses is #110 in completion %.

BSU is -4 in turnover margin while Wyoming is +5 (+7 last 4 games)

Boise St does not run away from teams on the scoreboard.

2 road games for Wyoming, at Texas and at Air Force, 2 good teams. Wyoming held Texas to 316 yards, but only 113 yards passing, and trailed 10-7 at halftime without their starting QB, Peasley, playing. Wyoming lost 31-10 with the backup.

At Air Force, Wyoming lost 34-27 but did not have Waylee at HB who is easily the best Back on the team. Wyoming could not stop the rush.

Boise will likely get some rush yards but I am not sure they can stop Wyoming.

Just don’t see BSU pulling away here

Both teams with sound run games and not great at defending the run.

Boston College has not been a team that wins by a big margin until last week at Georgia Tech but they picked off Haynes King 3 times, one for a Pick 6. BC still allowed GT 250 yards rushing and over 450 total yards in the game. BC had 14 points off of turnovers

A slow start to the season for UConn but they’ve played better lately. Since the 41-7 loss to Duke, UConn is 1-2 with the 2 losses to Utah St and USF by a total of 4 points combined.

I thought UConn would be a dog team to bet coming into the season, but they were a little slow to start. I think maybe they’ve reached that point now.

Teams are combining to gain and allow around 800 yards the past 3 games.
