Coming off a winner last Sunday with the Falcons cashing in on the moneyline against the Packers. Let’s try to make it two in a row as the Raiders will host there first home game on Sunday night football against the Steelers. Raiders are coming off a blowout loss to the Bills and the Steelers got a win in a hard fought game against the Browns. The Steelers rank dead last in the NFL in offensive EPA while the Raiders are ranked 13th. The Raiders have had success throwing the ball through the air but the rushing game has been poor as Josh Jacobs has only averaged 1.64 rushing yards per attempt. I’m looking for Jacobs to have a breakout game against the Steelers as they rank 20th in rush EPA defense and is the one weak spot on this good Steelers defense. The Raiders offensive line play has been solid through two games as they have allowed the least amount of pressure in the NFL at 7.4% per dropback. This matchup is strength on strength but the situational spot favors the Raiders in this game as the Steelers just played on Monday night and now have to travel to the west coast. I see the Raiders outscoring the Steelers on Sunday night football so take the -2.5 with the Raiders.

NFL Week 2 Misleading Final Scores

  • The Falcons out-gained the Packers 446 to 224 yet only won 25-24.  A 1-0 turnover ratio hurt them.
  • The Lions out-gained the Seahawks 418 to 393 yet lost 37-31.  A 3-0 turnover ratio and poor coaching decisions killed the cats.
  • The Texans yards were garbage yards.
  • The Rams out-gained the 49ers 386 to 365 yet lost 30-23.  A 2-0 turnover ratio killed the Rams.
  • The Saints out-gained the Panthers 341 to 239 yet only won 20-17.  Equal turnovers but poor red zone did them in.
  • The Browns out-gained the Steelers 408 to 255 yet lost 26-20.  A 4-2 turnover ratio got them.

 

College Football Week 4 Betting Spots

  • Missouri hosting Memphis after a miraculous 61 yard FG win.
  • Florida hosting Charlotte after beating Tennessee.
  • James Madison at Utah State after beating Troy.
  • BYU after beating Arkansas is a let down spot.
  • South Alabama hosting Central Michigan after beating Oklahoma State is one.

Get Up Spots:

  • Tennessee better wake up hosting UTSA after that poor showing in Florida.
  • Kansas State will get it right hosting UCF.
  • Alabama hosting Ole Miss after the showing at USF.
  • Iowa State better wake up vs Oklahoma State after losing to Ohio.
  • Stanford hosting Arizona after losing to FCS Sacramento State.
  • ASU needs to do something vs USC after getting shut down by Fresno State.

Look ahead Spots:

  • Duke looking past UCONN to Notre Dame is very possible.

College Football Week 3 Misleading Final Scores

  • Boston College’s yards were garbage, but they covered easily anyways.
  • Penn State out-gained Illinois only 383 to 354 yet won 30-13.   A 5-0 turnover ratio smoked the Illini.
  • Iowa State out-gained Ohio 271 to 241 yet lost 10-7.  A 2-0 turnover ratio killed the Clones.
  • Georgia Southern out-gained Wisconsin 455-451 yet lost 35-14.  A 6-0 turnover ratio killed the Eagles.
  • UMASS out-gained Eastern Michigan 464 t0 371 yet lost 19-17.   A 4-1 turnover ratio did them in bad.
  • Virginia Tech’s yards were mainly garbage.
  • Tennessee out-gained Florida 387 to 349 yet lost 29-16.   Some of this was garbage yards, but poor plus side of the field and a 1-0 turnover ratio hurt the Vols.
  • Cincinnati out-gained Miami Ohio 538 to 358 yet lost 31-24.  Equal 2-2 turnover ratio but ten penalties and horrible red zone defense and offense hurt the Bearcats.
  • Arkansas out-gained BYU 424 to 281 yet lost 38-31.  A 2-1 turnover ratio and 14 penalties killed the Hogs.
  • Colorado State out-gained Colorado 499 to 418 yet lost in overtime 43-35.  A 4-2 turnover ratio and 17 penalties killed them.  That Targeting one at the end was rough and I hate the rule.
  • Kansas out-gained Nevada 441 to 263 yet only won 31-24.  A 1-0 turnover ratio and poor red-zone hurt the Jayhawks.

Key Injuries

  • Colorado WR/CB Travis Hunter was taken to evaluation for concussion after the game.
  • Iowa TE Luke Lachey went out with a significant injury in a walking boot.
  • Nebraska might continue to start Heinrich Haarberg over Jeff Sims.
  • QB Frank Harris for UTSA still questionable.
  • Louisiana QB Ben Wooldridge is out for a while.
  • FAU QB Casey Thompson tore his ACL and is out for the season.
