College Football Saturday Super Plays – Sports Betting

Washington State vs UCLA -3.5 O/U 60

In what world do we live in where Washington State should be a dog to UCLA?  The Bruins looked good vs the children of the poor, but when they stepped up in class to Utah, they got punched in the mouth.  WASU ranks 14th in offensive success rate to UCLA’s 60th.The Cougars also have a big strength of schedule advantage over the Bruins being that they faced Wisconsin and Oregon state and beat them both.  UCLA’s yards per play at a massive net 3.5 were mainly masked by the easy competition that they have faced.Washington State’s Cameron Ward has an amazing stat line of 74.5% completions with 13 TDs, 0 interceptions and a 187 rating.  The Bruin’s Dante Moore is only at 56% completion with 8 touchdowns.  UCLA can run the ball, but Washington State proved that they could stop the run vs Wisconsin and Oregon State.   Take WASU plus the points.

Washington State +3.5 – 2.5 stars

Old Dominion vs Southern Miss -1.5 O/U 57.5

This should be a typical Fun belt game where we will see some points.   Neither team is all that good on defense with the Monarch’s allowing over 28 points per game and Southern Miss allowing 39.  Old dominion is a fast playing team ranking 11th in pace.  When they play poor competition, they can poor on the points.  Southern Miss has a decent offense against bad teams putting up over 35 if they are not named Tulane or Florida State.  The Golden Eagles also allow 6.99 yards per play on defense.  I expect both teams to score here and I like this over.

Syracuse vs North Carolina -9 O/U 59.5

No video today as I have limited access to things while traveling.  I am not sure how UNC is laying over seven points here.  The Tar Heels haven’t played a hard schedule as of yet and they even struggled against Appalachian State.  They are at a net 1.13 yards per play while their defense struggles against the run.  Syracuse has a net yards per play at 2.06 and that is including rougher opponents like Clemson, Army and Purdue.  Garrett Shrader for the Orange has been moving the ball well at 63.5% completions and eight TDs. North Carolina’s Drake May is definitely a stud, but he will have his hands full against a defense ranking tenth in success rate and fourteenth in yards per pass.  I think that this is a close game and UNC should only be favored by about four points.

Let Down Spots:

  • Oregon State at Cal after beating Utah is possible.
  • Ole Miss hosting Arkansas after beating LSU is one.
  • Purdue at Iowa after beating Illinois who is Ryan Walters Head coach from last year is possible.
  • Really not a lot of upsets last week.

Get up spots:

  • Maryland will fight at Ohio State to stay undefeated.
  • UCLA will want to come off the bye and beat WASU.
  • Syracuse at North Carolina is interesting to say the least.   They need to get back on track.
  • Texas A&M hosting Alabama is a fun one.
  • Kentucky will try to unseat Georgia.  Both teams undefeated.

NFL Week 4 Misleading Final Scores

The Bears out-gained the Broncos 471 to 311 and lost 31-28.   A 2-0 Justin Fields turnover special got them.

The Dolphins were only outgained 414 to 393 yet lost 48-20.  A 2-0 turnover ratio and poor rush defense with 8 penalties got them.

San Francisco only out-gained Arizona 395 to 362 yet won 35-16.  Poor red zone and 9 penalties hurt the Cardinals

College Football Week 5 Misleading Final Scores & Key Injuries

Sam Houston out-gained Jacksonville State 435 to 393 yet lost 35-28.  They won the turnover battle 3-1 yet bad red zone and 85 penalty yards got them.

Cincinnati out-gained BYU 498 to 295 yet lost 35-27.  A 2-0 turnover margin hurt the Bearcats.

UTEP outgained LA Tech 321 to 294 yet lost 24-10.  A 1-0 turnover ratio and poor red zone hurt the Minors.

Colorado’s yards were garbage time mainly.

UCONN out-gained Utah State 473 to 413 yet lost 34-33.  They won the turnover battle but 9 penalties for 97 yards hurt.

Southern Miss’s yards were mainly garbage.

Arizona State out-gained Cal 430 to 326 yet lost 24-21.  A 2-0 turnover ratio froze the Sun Devils.

East Carolina out-gained Rice 391 to 277 yet lost 24-17.   Equal turnovers at 1 but bad red zone hurt the Pirates.

Michigan State out-gained Iowa 349 to 222 yet lost 26-16.   A 4-2 turnover ratio and field position beat Sparty.

TCU out-gained West Virginia 433 to 343 yet lost 24-21.   Equal turnovers at 0 but bad special teams and missed FGs ran over the Frogs.

Key Injuries:

Duke QB Riley Leonard had a high ankle sprain and probably will miss at least a week.

Iowa QB Cade McNamara didn’t return to the game and is now out for the season with a leg injury.

LSU WR Aaron Anderson out with a hamstring injury.

Arkansas TE Luke Hass broke his clavicle and out for the season.

Florida WR Caleb Douglas will miss time with a lower leg injury.
