Rob V: MLB 30-2 Power Angle + 2022 CFL GAME OF THE YEAR INFO

Sunday card led by the 2022 Canadian Football League Game of the Year, a 36-1 Early MLB Power System and late College Football, U.S Open and Soccer. MLB Comp Play below

The MLB Comp Play for Sunday is on the NY. Mets on the run line at -1.5 runs. The Mets fit a big bounce system form home favorites off a home favored loss at -200 or more in the last game of a series. The Mets are also 30-2 since last September as a favorite off a loss. They have won 20 of 26 here in the series and have Carrasco back to make the start. He is 3-1 vs Washington and the Mets have won 8 of his last 9 starts at home. Fedde for the Nats is 0-5 here in NY and has a 5+ road Era and the Nationals have dropped 43 of 542 in Divisional games. Look for the Mets to coast in this one. On Sunday the Canadian Football League Game of the Year headlines along with College Football and a 36-1 MLB Power System play. We also have Soccer and U.S. Open Tennis. See us at goldencontender@aolcom or on facebook/twitter to Jump on as we are coming off another big day. For the MLB Comp Play. Make it thew Mets on the run line. Rob V- Golden Contender Sports.

College Football Week 1 Saturday Super Plays – Sports Betting

Utah vs Florida +2.5 O/U 51.5

This line stinks and there seems to some pushback against UTAH.   I know it is hard to play in the swamp and all, but this is a Florida team was pretty awful last year.  The Gators did however play pretty well at home minus the Samford game giving up 52 points.   Utah got better and better last year and when Cameron Rising got going, they destroyed the competition minus a hiccup at Utah State.  In the Rose Bowl, they went toe to toe with Ohio State, and they were missing some cornerbacks in which proved to be their downfall.  Many people had Utah as a top 5 or 6 team last year.   From an experience aspect, Utah really has it all with a stud WR in Devaughn Vale and two tight ends in Dalton Kincaid and Brent Kuithe.   They also return good production on defense at 61%.   Florida on the other hand has a new coach and a new system. I like Billy Napier as a coach and all, but I can’t trust this Florida team their very first game in a new system.  Gator quarterback Anthony Richardson will be a stud at some point, but it is way to early to expect a whole heck of a lot out of this team and especially in a spread option offense.   Utah is a very nice 6-0 against the spread in their six road games while Florida is 0-7 in their last seven games overall.   Lastly, an intangible aspect here is that Utah is coming in to this game backed into a corner, being that they are stuck in a weaker conference while USC and UCLA are heading to the Big 10.  This will be a showcase game for them and I expect some great Kyle Whittingham smash mouth football!

UTAH -2.5 – 2.5 stars

Oregon vs Georgia -16.5 O/U 54

What a great storyline in this game with Georgia’s ex-defensive coordinator taking the coaching Job at Oregon just to play his first game vs the champs!  This game is being played at Mercedes Benz stadium in Atlanta Georgia.   Yeah…  Pretty much a home game for Dem Dawgs.  Nobody knows this Georgia offense better than Kirby Smart, but I would argue that the person that might know it second best was their former defensive coordinator and now Oregon head coach in Danny Lanning who has practiced with them for the past few years.   I think that Georgia’s offense could be a little suspect being that they lost their top two wide receivers, top two running backs and three offensive lineman to the draft.  I also think that Danny Lanning might know a thing or two about stopping Georgia’s offense.   I don’t know about this big spread, but I see lots of ways that this game goes under.   The 4-5 star recruits on Georgia’s defense will not want their ex coach scoring against them period.  Danny Lanning will not want to give up a lot of possessions to the Dawgs if losing and will try and play this game smart.  I think there is a chance that Oregon scores less than 14 points here, but I also know that Georgia tends to slow the game down and run clock when leading by double digits.  The play here is under city.

Under 54 – 2 stars

College Football Saturday Free Play – It’s Terpin’ Time!

Free Saturday Play for Week 1 in College Football features the season opener for the Maryland Terrapins and the Buffalo Bulls in College Park Maryland.

The story of Saturday for me is simple. It’s Taulia Tagovailoa and the Terrapins offense. Tagovailoa will be referred to as TT for the rest of the article as my fingers refuse to type that name correctly and it sure doesn’t come up in autocorrect. TT set bunches of records last season on the way to putting up the 6th highest passing yard total in Big Ten history tailing only the likes of Dwayne Haskins, CJ Stroud, Curtis Painter and Drew Brees. He set the Maryland record for passing yards, completions, completion percentage and 300-yard passing games and tied the mark for touchdowns with 26. Along with TT the Terps feature 8 other returning players who have earned Big ten awards over the last two seasons. The entire starting Offensive Line returns along with possibly the most talented receiving core in the nation. Rakim Jarrett is a Biletnikoff candidate this season and Dontay Demus Jr. was one last year and returns after missing the last seven games in 2021 with injury. They are joined by Jarrett Copeland a talented Florida transfer. Combined they have 254 Career receptions and are going to give fits to even the best secondaries in the Big Ten. The running game should improve with the whole line back and I think Colby McDonald could become a real star this year with teams playing to stop the pass.

The questions for the Terps come on defense where they were were 81st allowing 5.7 Yards per play last season. They were also 99th in the nation in pass defense. Hopefully returning all three starting corners and 4 other starters will help them move forward. They suffered through some injuries especially at linebacker and should improve there in a big way. Defensive Coordinator Brian Williams took over play calling duties to end the season and they allowed just 10 points in a bowl game romp over Virginia Tech. I think this unit can get into the Top 40 in 2022.

As far as Buffalo goes, well they’re kind of a mess. Maurice Linguist couldn’t continue the momentum from the departed Lance Leipold and the Bulls finished 4-8 in 2021. The offense wasn’t awful last year putting up 396 YPG, but they will have a new starting QB under center in Rutgers transfer Cole Snyder. If you aren’t good enough to start at Rutgers, I’m not sure you are good enough to start in the MAC either. Snyder was one of 22 total transfers into Buffalo to help fill the holes left behind including 7 offensive starters. The rushing attack will likely feature speed back Ron Cook as they look to break off some big plays. That could be tough behind an offensive line featuring 4 new starters. Leading receiver Quinn Williams will return along with solid No. 2 Jamari Gassett. The question will be can someone get them the ball?

Buffalo’s defense returns 6 starters anchored by a strong defensive line featuring behemoth Nose Tackle Daymond Williams. Buffalo will likely rock a 4-2-5 with James Patterson a possible draft pick in the middle at linebacker. This could be one of the best front sevens (sixes) in the MAC. He’s going to need some help from transfers in the secondary where they snagged two corners from Power Five Schools. My biggest question here is whether or not they will be able to gel early in the season.

So for me, as I said it’s all about TT and the Terps offense. They are by far the best unit on the field. While I don’t have a ton of faith in the Maryland defense, they have performed admirably the last two years against subpar offensive opponents and that is what I think they are looking at Saturday. Last year Maryland went 4-0 against the spread and straight up in Non-conference games including a 37-16 win over Kent State who was a much better MAC opponent than this Buffalo squad. Expect TT and the Terps to get out and score early and often and run away with this one. My early season rankings have this at Maryland -27 so I am in on the Terrapins.

I got it at -23.5 early this week and it’s currently sitting at -24.5. Take the Terps -24.5 for 1.5 Units.

Premiums, 9.2 and 9.3

We had Purdue at +3.5, they lost by 4. We had under 68 on the Tennessee game, the score ended at 69. That’s college football baby!
We move on and ignore dumb variance. Added one more CFB play – happy Friday!

U.S. Open Picks 9.2 (4-2, +0.8 units):

Jabeur/Rogers over 21.5 (-120), to win 1 unit

Coco Gauff -2 (-120), to win 1 unit

Tomljanovic/Williams over 21.5 (-110), to win 1 unit
CFB Week 1 Picks (3-4-1, -3.15 units):

Illinois ML (-105), to win 1 unit
I like the way the Illini played last weekend against a Cowboys team that, if nothing else, prides itself on defense. I’m betting that Illinois can keep that offense movin against a pedestrian Indiana defense.

UNC/Appalachian State over 56 (-105), to win 1 unit
I like that North Carolina got a warm up game against inferior competition last week, putting up 56 points in a nice, comfy home win. They probably won’t do the same on the road in Boone, lately they’ve been horrendous on the road, but they should be able to move the ball against an App St. team that’s not known for stopping any power 5 conference team. App State, on the other hand, can turn into a juggernaut on offense at home. Like the over.
Oregon/Georgia under 53 (-110), to win 1 unit
This total is just too high. Both teams lost a ton of defensive talent but both teams retained a ton of defensive talent, too. Oregon acquired a few 5 star talents on offense this offseason but I’m not worried about it against the Bulldogs – Georgia may have its best backfield in years and its D-line receives an A+ rating from most sources that know. I think this game feels like a playoff, slows down, and we see a ton of good defense. Oregon’s speed will make big plays but GA keeps them in check for the majority of this contest.
Army ML (+110), to win 1.1 units
Coastal Carolina gave up a ton of playmakers last year and they also gave up a whopping 230 rush yards per game last season. Army is always dangerous in their first game against vulnerable rush defenses and I think they could control the clock with ease in this. Taking the Black Knights for a road upset.
Florida +3 (-115), to win 1.5 units
The Gators should not be the underdog in this contest, in our opinion. Of course they have to be as Utah comes into this rnaked #7 in the country, but the Gators could have one of the best QBs in all of college football this season. One of the most respected college football writers, Phil Steele, is reportedly very high on Anthony Richardson and we’re in agreement. Dude has elite athletic talent and all the intangibles to be a game-wrecker. Oh yea, and this game is in a hostile environment at the Swamp. All Florida for me, and ML should be in play, too.
Alabama -41 (-110) against lowly Utah State is probably the right side… just hate big numbers like that. Wouldn’t blame ya if you did, though.

Notre Dame +15 (-110), to win 1.5 units
Notre Dame +17.5 (-105),  to win 1.5 units
Everyone loves the Buckeyes and for good reason. They’re absolutely loaded with talent, especially on offense, and CJ Stroud is set to have a big year. That’s all fine and good, but there’s one area where Ohio State could be very vulnerable; their offensive line. Play schemes to accommodate speed make elite O-line play less important in college football, but Lindy’s preseason magazine, a highly touted and respected source for college football before the Week 1 kickoff, ranks the Irish as having the 4th best secondary AND defensive line in the country. Ohio State lacks O-line depth and arguably their best lineman, a 3 year sophomore, is coming off an ACL tear last season. Notre Dame is fired up under their new head coach and although they still have many question marks on offense, their showing against Oklahoma State in Marcus Freeman’s first game as HC is a good sign that this program will fight for their new leader. On top of that, Ohio State owns an unimpressive +9 margin against their last 15 ranked opponents, dating back 3 seasons under Ryan Day. Last season they beat Utah by only 3, Michigan by 15, Penn State by 9 and they lost outright to Oregon. Their one impressive showing vs ranked opponents last year was a win against an overrated Purdue team, ZzZzZ. Long story short – Notre Dame’s legacy is full of pride and they know they’re a big underdog heading into this contest. With Ohio State’s proclivity to let down and demonstrate underwhelming production despite their overwhelming talent, we have to take the Irish in Week 1.

Rob Vinciletti: Thursday College Football Pick + MLB Info

On Thursday rob has 5 Top level plays 3 in College Football and 2 in MLB. Top plays swept the board on Wednesday. In CFB we have an Executive Level TIER 1 Side and a big total. In MLB we have a Platinum Supreme total and a 100% System side. Comp play below.

The College Football Comp Play for Thursday is on the Minnesota Golden Gophers at 9;00 eastern. Not often will be laying over 35 points in a game. However, this New Mexico St team has lost 18 straight on the road and turned the ball over 5 times last week in a 23-12 loss to Nevada. Now they take on a Minnesota team that has a top level RB in Ibrahim who has over 3000 rush yards and 33 scored in just 28 games. The Gophers return most of a stingy defense that allowed under 18 point last year. Their Qb Morgan is also back. They have covered 4 of 5 at home, the last 4 vs independents  and won 48-10 here over the Aggies in 2018. The Aggies have failed to cover the last 4 vs non conference teams and we note from the database that Non Conference road dogs off a week 1 home dog loss scoring 14 or less loss by an average 40 point per game since 2004 vs a team in their first game. Look for Minnesota to win big and cover here. On Thursday 5 Powerful plays are up and 3 are in CFB. led by an Executive Level TIER a Total from our Unsurpassed Collection and then in MLB we have a Platinum Supreme total, and a 100% Side system dating to 2004. MLB Free Plays, September 1st

Seattle Mariners ML (-145)
Logan Gilbert had a shaky month of August. In five starts, he is 0-1 with a 6.75 ERA. Of those five starts, he had to face the New York Yankees twice and the Cleveland Guardians. Both teams are currently sitting in a playoff spot. Logan Gilbert gets an easier task against the Detroit Tigers this afternoon.

In 15 starts on the road, Gilbert is 6-1 with a 3.15 ERA and 75 strikeouts. I expect a bounce-back month for the Mariners Ace as they continue to fight for a playoff spot.

Cleveland Guardians F5 -.5 (-115)
Shane Bieber had an outstanding month in August. In five starts, he went 3-1 with a 1.62 ERA and 35 strikeouts. I like this spot for Bieber to continue his momentum and lead the Guardians through this playoff race.

Despite having a worse record at him, his opponent’s batting average is lower. On the road, opponents are hitting .243 against Bieber, but when he pitches at Progressive Field, opponents’ average dips down to .219.

I like backing the better pitcher during the first five innings.

Central Michigan vs Oklahoma State -21.5 O/U 59

September is here and college football is in the air!  This is a game between a good mac team against a good Big 12 team, but is the difference between these teams 17 or more points is the real question.  Oklahoma State returns spencer Sanders and some of their offense, but they lost a ton of defense ranking 128th in returning projection.  The Pokes also lost coordinator Jim Knowles to Ohio State which will hurt them even more.  They at least return 2 good defensive ends.  Oklahoma State started the season off poorly the last two years only beating Tulsa by eight in 2020 and only beating Missouri State by seven points last year.  Central Michigan is a pretty good Mac team who finished last year with 5 wins in a row including Washington State in the Sun Bowl.   The Chippewas like the Cowboys do not return much on defense, but they do get eight guys back on offense including QB Daniel Richard who through 24 TDs and only 6 interceptions.  Chippewas are 5-0 ATS in their last 5 games overall.  I think that the Pokes win this game, but Central Michigan will show up with a good coach in Jim McElwain.  Grab the points.  My number is Oklahoma State -18

Central Michigan +21.5 – 2 stars

Thursday Premier League Action!

We have Premier League action @ 3pm EST that leads perfectly into college football kickoff. Dip out of work early and hit up a happy hour spot, we have action! The start of the season has been rather mute in regards to record and units gained. There have been a ton of late goals and bounces not going our way; but looking for that variance to even out and possibly swing the other way.   It is a very long season. Clubs are starting to settle in and identities are taking shape. We travel to King Power Stadium in Leicester, England to see if the home club can find their first win of the season.

Current PL Record: 27-27 +.81 Unit

Manchester United +110 2 Units and Under 3 -130 1 Unit

Today is the day we will finally see the big transfer-signing debut of Carlos Casemiro. The world-renowned midfielder was hopeful to make his season starting debut last week against Southampton, but ended up being subbed in the 80’ minute. As it looks now based on current news and media outlets he should get his first full go today. This could be the spark this club needs to cash in on the goal production they are lacking.

Currently Manchester United has only 3 goals they have produced, and 1 own goal on the entire season. Considering they are top 5 in their shot totals per 90 minutes with match average of 14 shots indicates they are under producing.   Especially since of those 14 shots, 4.50 (6th highest) are landing on target and only yielding a 0.17 goal per shot on target (5th lowest). All this leads to their G-xG (goals-expected goals) of -2.2. In short, based on their shot production they are behind the pace of expected goals they should have. With the addition of the high praised player such as Casemiro in the midfield, one would think this would only help evening out this production that has not been able to find the net.

Using the same metrics we look at Leicester City who has been over producing correlated to their shot production. LC has been able to cash in on 5 goals themselves and had the help of 1 own goal at Arsenal. LC is the 4th lowest on the table with a 10.75 Shots per 90 minutes. Of those 10.75, 3.25 (6th lowest) have been on target. This is where we see an extreme jump from being the lowest in shot production to the 5th highest of Goals per shot on target of 0.38. They are simply overproducing and yielding more goals then they should for that current pace and have a G-xG of +1.8. Look to see some regression coming.

This is where we find our under. LC has given up the 3rd highest amount of goals this season with 10. Opponents vs. LC are producing the 4th lowest shot total per 90 minutes of 10.75. Of those 10.75 shots an average of 4 shots are on target, leading to a league high .23 goal per shot. Based on the minimal total shot production per 90 minutes correlated to the high amount of goals, LC is sitting at a G-xG of +4.4 goals. Combine the fact they are due to slow down scoring offensively along with slowing down opponents to find the back of the net I like the under.

With Man U due to break through and LC to regress offensively. I am looking for the spark of Casemiro to ultimately be a deciding factor as MU takes home a close match on the road. Match prediction 1-0 MU.

More CFB Week 1, More Tennis

Harriet Dart spazzed out and wow, that match between Nava and Murray should have went WAY over. Terrible ending by Nava. Ah well – we move on and to be honest, don’t care that much because FOOTBALL IS ON TONIGHT! LFG!

Onto the picks – more added in tennis and more CFB!

U.S. Open Picks 9.1 (1-2, -2.7 units):

Iga Swiatek/Sloane Stephens under 19.5 (-110)
Correct Score after 2 Games: Iga Swiatek 2-0 (+150), to win 1.5 units
Sloane Stephens played real choppy in the 1st set of her 1st round match and that scares me heading into this contest against the world’s #1. Sloan still shows signs of unrefined and immature play at times, while Swiatek is an absolutely cold-hearted beast on the court. I think Iga dominates early and wins in 2 sets.
Anhelina Kalinina/Petra Kvitova over 20.5 (-110), to win 1 unit
This match is a different story than above. Kvitova started off very clumsy in the first round and today she faces a very formidable, rising young player in Kalinina, who has the size, power, and precision to put up a real fight here today. Take the over.
Denis Shapovalov/Roberto Carballes Baena over 34 (-115), to win 1 unit
Similar to the above, Shapovalov loves to play in long matches, much of that is because he’s not as refined and consistent just yet, and his opponent today is no joke. I think it’s an easy over.
Parlay: Pegula, Swiatek, Sabalenka: 1 unit to win 1.57 units
CFB Week 1 Picks (2-1-1, +.0.2 units)

Ball State/Tennessee under 68 (-110), to win 1.5 units
The Volunteers probably should be a top 25 team but preseason rankings are usually terribly inaccurate. We lean towards Ball State (+34.5), that’s a huge line for Week 1 and this is a huge game for the Cardinals, who had a down year in 2021 at 6-7 but usually they’re one of the more formidable offenses in the MAC. This just isn’t a great matchup for them to regain confidence. The Volunteers’ defense is better than advertised, in our opinion, and I think Ball St., who still has plenty of kinks to figure out, won’t get on the scoreboard very much on Thursday. I’m on the under.
West Virginia +7.5 (-110), to win 1.5 units
This line has gone up and we think it’s gone up too much. JT Daniels, the transfer from GA and USC, has yet to reach his full potential but he’s in a good spot to prove he can hang with the big boys in Week 1 against a dominant Pitt defensive line. Fortunately the Mountaineers bring a veteran, highly-skilled offensive line and while they’ll likely make mistakes and blow some coverages on defense (they’re young and inexperienced), Pitt doesn’t have soaring offensive talent and I think this game is more evenly matched than people think. Taking the dog.
Purdue +3.5 (-110), to win 2 units
Purdue ML (+140), to win 1.4 units
This is a BIG game at Purdue for both teams who are trending in opposite directions. Penn State has no momentum to speak of heading into this season. Hopes were high in 2021 but we saw them stumble badly down the stretch. Sometimes hype and belief can get you far, but we think the Nittany Lions showed their true selves at the end of last year’s campaign. Meanwhile Aidan O’Connell, the surging 6th year ultimate senior, returns as Purdue’s starting QB after a great year. He earned nearly 4,000 passing yards, threw for 28 TDs and only 11 INTs, he’s a good decision maker, and Purdue’s offense is bound to get more potent with Iowa transfer Tyrone Tracy joining the mix and enough talent to keep Brohm’s complex, high-octane offense in gear. I think it’ll be too much for Penn State, who just doesn’t have elite talent on offense and a defense that largely depended on turnovers last year. This is the Boilermakers’ game to lose.
