January 7th NBA Free Play

I’m currently on a 10-1-1 run across all sports after a winner on the Pelicans TT UNDER last night! In addition to this free play, I also have 2 NBA premium plays for tonight. My premium plays are hitting at a 57% clip and have netted my members +36.7u since September 2021. *NBA(1u): Thunder +6(-110) vs Timberwolves–7:10 PM CT

This is a disgusting, hold-your-nose type of pick, but I do think you can find value even with the bottom-barrel teams in the NBA(I’m 2-0 when betting on the Thunder this season). These teams played in Minnesota just 2 nights ago, with the T-Wolves winning 98-90. However, Minnesota led by 20 after the 1st quarter before being outscored by 12 over the last 3 quarters. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Lou Dort will play for OKC tonight, which is a clear indicator to me that the Thunder are committed to winning this game(that is not always the case). This is only the second game back for Karl Anthony-Towns and D’Angelo Russell after spending 2 weeks on the Injury Report, so it shouldn’t be expected that either one of those guys will be at their sharpest tonight. The Thunder rarely seem to push all their chips into the center and go all out for a win, but that appears to be their plan tonight for this classic revenge game. As funny as it may seem, I like the Thunder as home ‘dogs tonight.

January 7th NBA Premium Plays

*NBA(1u): Nets -4.5(-110) vs Bucks–6:40 PM CT

The Nets were eliminated by the Bucks in the Eastern Conference SemiFinals last season AND were blown out by them on the Opening Night of this season. Now, this sets up as a perfect double revenge spot for Brooklyn. Milwaukee is without Jrue Holiday, Grayson Allen, George Hill, Pat Connaughton, and Donte DiVinenzo for this game. Giannis should play, but he’s at less than 100% dealing with some sort of illness. Regardless, the Bucks are not set up well without 5 key role players in their backcourt; this is shown by their last 2 games, which included losses to the Pistons and Raptors. Kyrie Irving isn’t allowed to play in New York right now, but aside from his absence, the Nets are basically at full strength right now and have all the motivation in the world to step on the Bucks while they’re down.

*NBA(1u): Wizards +6(-110) @ Bulls–7:10 PM CT

These teams played on New Year’s Day, with the Bulls inching by with a 1 point win. The Bulls might be the #1 team in the East right now, but I have a hard time seeing them continuing to win at such a high rate over the rest of this season. While they have won 8 straight games, Chicago has shown signs of regression over their past 3 games; they beat the Pacers by just 2, this Wizards team by 1, and the Magic by just 4. While the Wizards aren’t great at winning by margin, I actually like them in this role as a clear underdog. The Wizards have that close loss from last week fresh on their minds, and I’d expect them to be neck-and-neck with Chicago throughout the course of this game.

Celtics shit the bed, good thing we only had 1 unit on it (and that was why; Celtics be the Celtics!)– onto Friday!

Got some NFL plays in here but PLEASE proceed with caution. Full injury reports don’t come out until Saturday morning and plenty could change before kickoff with COVID, rest, motivational changes, etc.
NFL Earlies, Week 18:
  • Broncos +11 * (line is too high)
  • Cowboys -5 ** (I don’t see why/how the Cowboys don’t use this as a game to feel better about themselves. Philly could probably care less)
  • Browns -6 ** (CIN should resign this game)
  • Vikings -5.5 ** (ball out, Kirk Cousins! This is a no-pressure game and you have a way more talented unit. Also, Zimmer’s last game)
  • WFT -7 ** (are you surprised? Fuck the Giants)
  • Saints -3.5 * (this line movement is weird so only 1 unit, but I don’t see how the Saints allow a loss against an 0-6 ATS Falcons team at home)
  • Bills -16 ** (reverse line movement here, in favor of BUF. Night night, Jets)
  • Bucs -8 ** (Brady lets loose to get-right before the postseason)
  • Chargers -3 ** (hoping it goes to -2.5 but still love LAC)
NBA Picks Today:
  • Raptors -11 *
    • Utah got hit with COVID and their starting 5 is out of this contest. Toronto is playing really good basketball, they’re all healthy, and a B unit of the Jazz won’t be able to keep up. All Toronto for me – just one unit out of respect for a very talented Jazz roster.
  • Bulls -6.5 *
    • I like the Wizards, but the Bulls should be TOO much to handle at home after a subpar game Monday. Just 1 unit since WAS has played well recently.
  • Lakers -3 **
    • Unfortunately, although LAL annoys the crap out of me, this is an ideal spot for a Lakers team that’s figuring shit out, especially on the offensive end of the floor. All LAL tonight – Trae is hurt, too.
  • Cavaliers -5 **
    • I considered this as a 3 unit pick and wouldn’t blame you if you put 3 units down. I grabbed this at -4.5 but most books have it at -5 now. I’d take it up to -7.5. The Cavs are a way better team than this depleted Portland unit.

NCAAM Action

823 Louisiana Tech (-3.5) at 824 UTEP*

Definitely some smelly lines on the huge board today as we are getting into conference play so I am treading lightly in college basketball. I’ll be mostly watching results closely as we figure out the true identity of these teams, because conference play tends to bring different results from the first couple months. Then throw in we’re in the midst of a COVID surge and the uncertainty of rosters on a given night… So I’ll be focusing in on some of the metrics that have given me some modest success thus far in college basketball.

Coming into this matchup, we have a relatively short favorite in LT who has a clear advantage in strength of schedule at 137th vs. UTEP’s 207th. Again, we have a team who has a clear edge in rebounding thus far with LT 97th vs UTEP at 283rd in that category. LT is a better free throw shooting% team, and UTEP also fouls at a significantly higher rate 300th (defensive free throw attempt %) vs LT’s 191st rating. From a metric perspective, we have a Bulldog team that’s faced better competition that should be getting more attempts to score overall. The next metric that I have to consider given I haven’t seen a lot of games between either of these teams is FG%, which asks… Are they getting the ball in the basket when they have possession? Well, LT has an edge in that category at 67th vs UTEP’s 283rd in overall FG%. I have to lay the points with the Bulldogs in this one, who should be one of the better teams in C-USA action this year.

Expected Bets For – Episode 1 – January 5, 2022 NHL Breakdown

As most of you know, I’ve been posting daily articles on TheOddsBreakers for a little under a year. With the articles continuing to gain more and more traction I figured it was time to start offering different forms of my content.

Starting this week, I’ll be doing a weekly Podcast called Expected Bets For where I offer a more detailed look into my betting approach when it comes to the NHL. I understand that the first episode may be a tough listen but I’m sure it will get better and better with more experience. I want to thank everyone who has supported me especially Kiev who has allowed me to be part of such an incredible company.

On this weeks episode of Expected Bets For, I breakdown the two NHL games on Wednesday January 5th. I offer two bets for each game and some analysis behind those picks.

Edmonton Oilers @ Toronto Maple Leafs

St. Louis Blues @ Pittsburgh Penguins

Any feedback is encouraged whether it’s positive or critical so please give it a listen and let me know what you think!

Best of luck, and as always you can find me on Twitter @GatorBetting and Instagram @Gator_Sports_Betting.

Another sweep in the NBA, going 4-0 Wednesday; hope you got that -7.5 on the Nets, that hiked up real quick. It’s important to get in your bets as early as possible. If I think you can get a better line by waiting, I’ll let you know.

Unfortunately I pretty much hate today’s 4 games – not seeing a ton of value here. I have one pick and a lean for today:
NBA Picks:
  • Celtics -1 *
    • Tatum and Brown are both back tonight and I trust a healthy Celtics team before I trust a banged up Knicks team, even at home. Kemba and D. Rose should be out tonight, leaving NYK really shallow at the guard position. Expect plenty of points from Boston’s perimeter shooters.
  • Lean, Pistons/Grizzlies over 219.5
    • Just a lean because Detroit is due for some positive regression on defense, but the Grizzlies can put up points on anyone and lately the Pistons have been allowing a ton of points. The absence of I. Stewart might have something to do with that, but he could return tonight.
NFL Picks – this is a REALLY tough week in the NFL, I can’t stress that enough. And obviously we have an extreme interest this week because of what’s at stake in Circa. Here are some early bets I like – but be aware that these could change:
  • Cowboys -7 *
  • Titans/Texans under 43 **
  • Vikings -3.5 *
  • WFT -7 *
  • Jags/Colts over 44 *
  • Saints -4.5 *
  • Rams -4.5 **
  • Bucs -8 **
  • Seahawks +6.5 *
  • LAC -3 ** (a -2.5 here would be sweet, maybe it goes down)
