The Saints only outgained the Browns 473 to 443 yet won 35-14. Browns won the turnover battle 2-0, but terrible special teams and red zone defense got the Browns.
The Bears out-gained the Packers 391 to 366 yet lost 20-19. They wont the turnover battle 1-0, but poor special teams and coaching got the Bears.
The Bengals out-gained the Chargers 452 to 435 yet lost 34-27. They won the turnover battle 1-0, but poor coaching and bad special teams got them.
Ball State out-gained Buffalo 520 to 470 yet lost 48-51. They won the turnover battle 3-1, but poor coaching, field position and defense was the reason for the choke. Mike Neu has been fired.
UCLA out-gained Washington 319 to 305 yet lost 31-19. Equal turnovers at 2 but 6 sacks and 9 penalties got the Bruins. Also bad red zone efficiency.
Arizona only out-gained Houston 337 to 326 yet won 27-3. Terrible red zone efficiency got the Cougs. Also a 3-1 turnover ratio.
Pitt out-gained Clemson 438 to 346 yet lost 24-20. A 2-1 turnover ratio and 13 penalties got the Panthers.
Coastal Carolina out-gained Marshall 391 to 254 yet lost 31-19. A 3-1 turnover ratio got the roosters.
LSU out-gained Florida 392 to 339 yet lost 27-16. A 1-0 turnover ratio and terrible red zone efficiency and bad special teams got the Tigers.
Georgia State out-gained Arkansas State 411 to 358 yet lost 27-20. A 2-0 turnover ratio did in the Panthers.
Maryland out-gained Rutgers 457 to 370 yet lost 31-17. A 1-0 turnover ratio, and terrible red zone stepped on the Terps.
Kansas State’s Yards were mainly garbage time.
San Jose State out-gained Boise State 483 to 456 yet lost 42-21. A 4-1 turnover ratio and terrible coaching and play calling got the Spartans and my bets.
Iowa State only out-gained Cincinnati 386 to 353 yet won 34-17. Equal turnover at 1 but 13 penalties got the Bear Cats.
BYU out-gained Kansas 354 to 242 yet lost 17-13. A 2-0 turnover ratio and poor third down 3/10 got the Cougs.

FedExCup Fall Finale
The FedExCup Fall wraps up at Sea Island, with crucial points on the line as players vie for full status within the top 125 in the FedExCup standings. Additionally, spots in the Aon Next 10 (Nos. 51-60 in the FedExCup Fall standings) are up for grabs, granting access to early-season Signature Events in 2025.
Notable names on the top-125 bubble competing this week include Sam Ryder (No. 122), Joel Dahmen (No. 124), Wesley Bryan (No. 125), Henrik Norlander (No. 126), Daniel Berger (No. 127), and Hayden Springer (No. 128).
Swede Seeks Back-to-Back Wins at St. Simons
Ludvig Aberg, the 2023 RSM Classic champion, made history as the first PGA TOUR University alum to win a TOUR event. He returns to Sea Island looking to become the tournament’s first back-to-back winner. Aberg’s season includes a 16th-place finish at the TOUR Championship and three runner-up finishes at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, Masters Tournament, and BMW Championship. Earlier this fall, he underwent surgery to repair a torn medial meniscus in his left knee and is set to make his first start since recovering.
FedExCup Fall Champions Set to Compete
All seven winners from the FedExCup Fall will compete at Sea Island:
The RSM Classic, previously known as the McGladrey Classic until 2015, has been a mainstay on the PGA Tour since its debut in 2010. Hosted at the picturesque Sea Island Golf Club on St. Simons Island, Georgia, the tournament is organized by PGA Tour professional Davis Love III and is deeply rooted in the local community. In 2015, the event underwent significant changes, including adopting its current name and switching to a dual-course format, utilizing both the Seaside and Plantation Courses. From 2015 to 2019, it marked the final PGA Tour event of the calendar year before transitioning to a fall event as part of the FedExCup schedule.
Sea Island Golf Club, located on St. Simons Island, Georgia, boasts a rich history dating back to its founding in 1928. Renowned for its elegance and exceptional design, the club initially featured the Plantation Course, created by famed architect Walter Travis, and later expanded with the addition of the Seaside Course, designed by Harry S. Colt and Charles Alison in the 1920s. Over the years, these courses have been reimagined by prominent architects, with Tom Fazio leading significant updates to enhance their modern appeal while preserving their classic charm. Known for its stunning coastal views and challenging layouts, Sea Island has long been a favorite destination for golf enthusiasts and professionals alike. It has hosted numerous prestigious tournaments, including the RSM Classic on the PGA Tour, further cementing its legacy as a world-class golfing venue.
The Seaside course is the least challenging of the two courses that players will face this week. As you can tell by the scorecard, the course is one of the shortest on the PGA Tour. Most courses on Tour use length to try and prevent the event from becoming a “birdie fest” however, Seaside relies on the wind as its main defense. Seaside is a coastal/links-style golf course that features wide fairways and greens. The tournament is won on approach shots and putting. Most of the greens are elevated with large runoff areas which emphasizes Greens in Regulation % as a key stat this week. The bermudagrass putting surface will also provide some challenge for players who aren’t particularly used to the grainy surface. Capitalizing on birdie opportunities will be placed at a premium this week based on the previous winner’s scores.
The Seaside Course at Seas Island Golf Club is a Par 70 that plays 7,005 yards. The layout features four Par 3’s, twelve Par 4’s, and two Par 5’s.
The four Par 3’s range between 179 yards and 223 yards.
No. 6, 179 yards, Par 3: “A downhill par three protected by a bunker in front and water behind the green, this hole is made tricky by swirling winds and requires the right club selection.”
No. 12, 223 yards, Par 3: “This long par three is at the mercy of the wind. Playing to the center of the green, regardless of pin position, will be the aim of all players. A large bunker protects the right side of the green making it attractive as players must negotiate the marsh short and left.”
Nine of the twelve Par 4’s range between 400 – 450 yards. No. 8 is the shortest Par 4 listed at 368 yards with the longest being No. 18, at 470 yards.
No. 13, 408 yards, Par 4: “This signature hole plays once again at the mercy of the wind. Players have to negotiate the marsh running the entire left side of the hole while paying attention to the three large fairway bunkers protecting the right side. An uphill shot to the green protected by a large front bunker makes birdie on this hole a bonus.”
No. 16, 407 yards, Par 4: “This signature hole requires thinking on the tee. With a tidal creek running the entire left side of the driving area, players will hit their tee shots out to the right, but the farther right one plays, the longer the second shot to the well-protected green. A bunker protects the green on the front, right side, while a false front runs the entire left side.”
The two Par 5’s are No. 7 and No. 15. Neither of the two Par 5’s are listed at over 600 yards.
No. 7, 582 yards, Par 5: “The lone par five on the front side is flanked with water to the right and dunes to the left. A good tee shot, depending on the wind, can leave a player with the opportunity to reach this green in two shots. A large fairway bunker complicated a second shot lay-up due to a large fairway bunker left and dunes to the right. The green has a substantial movement and is protected by marsh long and right.”
No. 15, 565 yards, Par 5: “Long hitters can carry the fairway bunker stretching across the left side to have a shot at reaching this par five. Players unable to carry the bunker must play right on the tee shot and lay up for a short third shot. The raised green is very well protected with bunkers left and right, and back pin positions can provide a difficult two-putt.”
Players this week will only see the Plantation course once this week, either on Thursday or Friday so I’m not all too concerned about this course. The Plantation Course is also not equipped with Shot Link data which limits any SG research. This course is more of Parkland style and features tree-lined fairways and water coming into play on a majority of the holes. The Plantation Course features four Par 5’s, unlike Seaside, that provide additional scoring opportunities. While distance and power haven’t been a factor in the recent tournaments here, it will play a factor on those four holes. Davis Love III recently renovated this course changing the contouring on the greens making them more difficult.
The Plantation Course at Seas Island Golf Club is a Par 72 that plays 7,060 yards. The layout features four Par 3’s, ten Par 4’s, and four Par 5’s.
The four Par 3’s range between 156 yards and 219 yards.
No. 7, 156 yards, Par 3: “The island par three green, the largest green on the course, makes an inviting target. Hole locations on the large undulating green can make hitting the green only the first test to overcome for par.”
Six of the ten Par 4’s range between 350 – 400 yards. No. 10 is the shortest Par 4 listed at 327 yards with the longest being No. 9, at 481 yards.
No. 10, 327 yards, Par 4: “This short, drive-able par four provides the golfer with numerous options. The boldest player may try and go for the green, but the danger lurks with the left edge of the green guarded by the water. More conservative players face a lay-up decision to avoid the “principal’s nose” bunkers. Once negotiated, the players will find a small, gently undulating green surface.”
No. 13, 437 yards, Par 4: “With a lake on the left and out of bounds on the right, this may be the most difficult driving hole on the course. Once finding the fairway, the player will need to negotiate the large bunker guarding the right two-thirds of the green protecting this “bowl” green.
The four Par 5’s are No. 4, No. 8, No. 14, and No. 18. Only one of the Par 5’s is listed over 600 yards (No. 4).
No. 8, 529 yards, Par 5: “This par five will be reachable depending on the wind. With bunkers on both sides of the fairway, players hitting good drives have the opportunity to reach the green but must negotiate a lake running the right side of the fairway. A back right hole location provides a tough shot even with a short iron.”
No. 18, 560 yards, Par 5: “This reachable par five finishing hole can provide a great finish end to the round. The water off the tee will only affect the longest hitters, but all players will have to deal with the water eventually. Players hitting to this green with second or third shots will face water lining the left side and bunkers protecting the right side. This birdie hole can give some chances at eagle.”

Ludvig Aberg (+900) will look to become the first player to win the RSM Classic in consecutive years. This will be his first start since finishing 16th at the TOUR Championship.
Davis Thompson (+2200), a St. Simons Island resident, finished T5 at the Shriners Children’s Open in his lone start this FedExCup Fall. This will be his sixth appearance at this event with his best finish coming in his tournament debut back in 2019 (T23). In three of his last four starts at this tournament he has missed the cut.
Brian Harman (+2200), a St. Simons Island resident, will make his his first PGA TOUR appearance start since finishing 25th at the BMW Championship. He did play once on the Asian Tour finishing T13 at the SJM Macao Open. His best finish at this tournament was two years ago where he finished T2.
