1. USC’s Backcourt Firepower

USC leans heavily on transfer guards Rodney Rice and Chad Baker‑Mazara, who’s averaging 18.9 PPG on 44% shooting. If Northwestern can’t slow them down, this could get away from them early.

2. Northwestern’s Offensive Consistency Problem

Nick Martinelli is coming off a 22‑point performance in a loss to Nebraska, but the Wildcats haven’t found reliable scoring beyond him. They average 77.3 PPG, but that number has been inflated by non‑conference play.

• This should be a fun game in so/cal.
• The Trojans have been solid at home.  They are coming off of a close loss to Purdue where they played tough without role player Jerry Easter who was out sick.   Losing by five points to Purdue is nothing to be ashamed of.
• My handicap in this game is really based on two things.   For 1, I think that Northwestern is overrated.  Their best win was against number 77 South Carolina on a neutral court.  This team cannont shoot 3s ranking 280th in three point percentage, and they can’t rebound the ball ranking 303rd in defensive rebounding percentage.
• The second reason that I am fading Northwestern is that when teams cross a few time zones going out west, they tend to play pretty poorly.   USC is 5-3 ATS as a home time, while the Cats are only 1-3 ATS in true road games.
• I like the Trojans off of a good loss against Purdue.  I am gonna lay the points here with USC.
