The Public Dog is 27-17-2 in the NCAA and 6-5 in the NFL!

Cub Fan Danny is 6-2 in the NFL and we love this Card!

NCAA – Usc vs Cal – San Diego St vs Air force – West Virginia vs Kansas – Rutgers vs Nebraska  – Florida State vs NC State – Nevada vs Washington State – Virginia vs Boise state – Arkansas vs Texas A & M – Utah State vs San Jose state -Duke vs UNC – Florida vs Kentucky – Michigan vs Purdue – Stanford vs UCLA – Miss state vs Georgia

NFL – Raiders vs Redskins – Rams vs 49ers – Broncos vs Bills – Cowboys vs Cardinals – Saints vs Panthers – Seahawks vs Titans – Bengals vs Packers

Fantasy Football week 3

Key Injuries

Jordy Nelson – Groin out for ???

Greg Olson – Broken foot out for at least 8 weeks

Rob Kelly – Fractured rib?

Jordan Howard – Shoulder banged up

Corey Coleman – may have a broken hand

Pick ups

Trevor Siemian is for real – 4 Tds last game against cowboys passing for 4 TDs and 231 yards

JJ Nelson – TDs in both games and 7 targets

Ben Watson – 8-8 last game with 90 yards vs the Ravens

Samaje Perine – Rob Kelly’s injury could boost his value

Tarik Cohen – If you don’t have him by now, you are crazy

Jeff Janis – Could fill in for Jordy Nelson

Break out players:

Calvin Benjamin – Now with Greg Olson out, Cam will be forced to throw to WRs.  Plus they play the saints this week.   The saints D is the gift that keeps on giving

Martellus Bennett – Cincinnati is god awful.   The packers will want and crush this team after their week 2 loss.   I like Bennett this week in Jordy Nelson’s absence plus Vontez Burfect isn’t playing for the Bengals which could leave him wide open.

Jay Ajai – is playing the Jets and they have the worst rushing defense in the league allowing 185 Yards per game.

College Football Recap of Week 3

9-5-1 Last week.   We hit all of our overs and unders.

27-17-2 total

Over all not a good weekend for sharps but not great for the General public either.   The reason is because the sharps really took losses on games that did not have a huge public handle. Otherwise, USC didn’t cover, Stanford Lost, Washington didn’t cover, Alabama didn’t cover…   This wasn’t a great week for anyone except well maybe us and the sportsbooks….

Winning Conferences – The big 10

Georgia St vs Penn State – Penn State enforces their will on Georgia State.   They covered like the power house that they are.  Their Defense once again allowing 0 points.

Wisconsin vs BYU – BYU was a sharp bet that lost.   Wisconsin enforced their will on BYU using four running backs led by Jonathon Taylor.   If Wisconsin can use 3 or 4 stud running backs to wear down big 10 defenses…  Watch out.   But if they can’t get 2 yards per carry vs Michigan then i don’t think that 20 Rbs would help them.  Wisconsin Receivers looked awesome.  Cephus and Davis out shined Jazz Peavy.  Alex Hornibrook was a stud completing 19-20 passes breaking a Wisconsin record.  If Wisconsin plays like this in the big 10, nobody is stopping them.

Army vs Ohio state – Ohio State back on track enforcing their will on Army but didn’t cover the spread by 1 point.

Air Force vs Michigan – Michigan still has passing woes.   Great running game at least.   Unders Unders Unders.   They didn’t even come close to covering this huge spread of 24.   Air Force may be a team to be on once again this year.

Purdue vs Missouri – Purdue winning out right vs SEC was the biggest story to me.   We were on the money line here.  Some sharps were on Missouri.    David Blough 22-28 passing 1 TD.  They found a solid running back in Tario Fuller.   Jeff Brohm has really turned this program around and I will not feel comfortable when the Badgers play Purdue Oct 14.   At least it is at home.  Purdue is better than Northwestern.

Northern Illinois at Nebraska – The biggest loss for the big 10 was this by far.   Nebraska started the game out poor giving up 2 defensive pick 6s to NIU.   PATHETIC.   Nebraska made this game close afterwords but could not dig themselves out of this one.   They needed a 5th quarter.

The SEC- No major losses.

Tennessee vs Florida – Tennessee deserved to lose this game the way that they did.   Florida had an awful strip of the ball that should have been a TD for Florida instead it was a touchback for Tennessee.   Butch Jones is an awful situational game coach.   He will blow a game in the most fashionable way possible.   HELLO PREVENT DEFENSE WITH 9 SECONDS LEFT!!!   How do you let someone beat you over the top????    Right before this happened, I told someone that I kinda wish Tennessee missed that field goal to tie the game because at least we could get a win ATS instead of a push or loss.   We pushed on this one cause we got the line early at 6 but what an ugly game.  Butch Jones is JUST AWFUL.   If Butch Jones played Arkansas with Bret Beliema in a bowl game, the would call it the completely incompetent bowl.   Nobody could win!   Impossible

Auburn looked awful vs Tomato can Mercer.   Auburn has a bad offense and beat them 24-10.   How sad

Kansas State vs Vanderbilt – Pretty boring game  if you like offense and there was some awful officiating.  Vandy’s win is what made it for the SEC.  Kansas State was robbed early by the penguins taking a way a defensive Touchdown.  There was absolutely 0 evidence that QB Kyle Shermer’s knee was down on that fumble.   The officials ASSUMED IT and they are supposed to go by actual video evidence..   This play turned the tides on Kansas State and set the tone of the game early.  There needs to be more accountability for bad officiating in the NCAA and the NFL.   Since I am ranting about this here is an idea, pay the officials $8,000 per game and have a performance caveat that you can be fined down to making $2000 a game with bad calls.   That would clean this game up some in my opinion.

LSU vs Miss state – LSU’s defense looked so bad that I thought I might lose this under bet of 51.5 in the third quarter.   I Thought that I might.   Didn’t happen

Alabama didn’t cover vs Colorado state.   Not really sure what that means.   I think they are being Lazy.

Kentucky vs South Carolina – Kentucky beating Sharp Darling South Carolina was the biggest story in the SEC.   I guess some people could see it coming because South Carolina was getting a lot of lucky bounces their way until this game.   They were out gained in Yards the last 2 games yet were still 2-0.   This time they lost when they gained 5 more yards than Kentucky.   The tide has turned on them and the law of averages aligned.   This was a bad bet for me and now we know a little bit more about Kentucky.

Purdue beating Missouri was The SECs biggest loss yet Missouri is just awful.   They should have never switched from a Defensive mindset to an Offensive mindset in my opinion.   It doesn’t fit well in the SEC

The ACC

Clemson vs Louisville – Clemson enforced their will on Louisville and pretty much secured a spot in the College football playoff.   Even if they let down against Florida State or Virginia Tech, they are in.   But not both…

Baylor vs Duke – The public won on this bet.   Unless of course they decided to take it at -14.5.   This game landed right on 14 and I think some sharps didn’t get the best of this number.   This game unfortunately still begs the question, is Duke this good or is Baylor this Bad?   Duke can be a disruptor in the ACC.

OK State vs Pitt – Pitt got destroyed.   Mason Rudolph is as much of a Heisman contender as anybody after this game.   No look ahead spot here I suppose!  Me and the Sharps were.   WRONG! I am pretty excited to watch them play more.

Miami?????    When are they going to play again???

Florida State?????    We miss you, please come back….

Losing conferences this week

The Pack 12 –

USC vs Texas.   Will the Real USC please stand up please stand up please stand up.   I am mad at myself for not betting this.   Texas is much more motivated now and I think they are better than Maryland.   This was a perfect Let down spot for USC.   Do you know why i didn’t bet it and take the 17 points?   Cause

Stanford vs San Diego State – What another huge let down for Stanford.   Lost playing their own game at San Diego State. Playoffs are OVER for Stanford.   I can see them still screwing over Washington’s hopes at some point.   Maybe good to back them next week anyways we shall see

UCLA vs Memphis – Crushing Defeat for UCLA.   Both teams scored a lot of points in this shoot out.   Both teams had 3 turnovers but Josh Rosens late pick 6 is what did him in.   I bet his critics were happy.  Rosen is a gun-slinger with a big mouth.   He reminds me of Geoff George.   Riley Ferguson played every bit as well as Rosen throwing for 6 TDs and 396 yards.  He is now a Legitimate Heisman contender

Ole Miss vs Cal – What a great win for Justin Wilcox.  The only shining moment of the Pac 12 this weekend.   People underestimated him at Cal this year and he already hit 2 money lines for us.   Justin Wilcox is a CASH COW.

The Big 12 –

That K state loss vs Vandy really hurt the big 12.  Look for Bill Snyder to fix some of the problems in that passing game this week.

Baylor vs Duke – Baylor lost by 14 points and is now 0-3.   Safe to say the sharps will now be off of this team.   I actually am not so sure.   I think Duke is legit and Baylor may get better.

Wasn’t a complete loss for the big 12 because Ok State smoked Pitt, TCU took care of business, and Oklahoma decided not to play nice with Tulane.   Shame on me for that one.   Shame Shame Shame

Potential Let down spots for week 4!

Duke at North Carolina

Florida at Kentucky

Vanderbilt Hosting Alabama, interesting that they didn’t look past K state last week.   I will be on Alabama this week

Miss St at Georgia

San Diego State at Air force

Cal hosting USC kinda a let down spot but i wouldn’t bet on it….

Purdue hosting Michigan – Purdue will be a public dog here guaranteed

Look ahead spots for week 4

Clemson vs Boston College – Clemson plays Va tech week 5

Va Tech vs Old Dominion

Miami Oh at Central Michigan. – Miami Ohio looking ahead to Notre Dame?

Podcast 13 – NCAA Week 3 Recap – Fantasy Football

In this episode, the public dog recaps a great weekend of college football game and sports betting.  We go over the Big 10 Power Ratings along with let down and look ahead spots.   D-Nasty comes in with Fantasy Football injuries, wavier pickups, break out players and sleepers.

NFL Week 2 Picks – Sports Betting

The Public Dog’s Picks

Lions +4.5 vs Giants – This is more of a fade against the Giants.   Odell Beckham is still banged up and might not play.   The Giants really rely on him and if he isn’t healthy the rest of the team really looked non existent.   Brandon Marshall only had 4 targets last game and without an offense they will not be able to cover 4.5 points.   The lions actually were a top ten offense  against the Cardinals tough defense last week.

Patriots -6.5 vs Saints – Kansas City woke the sleeping giant.   The patriots were 13-3 vs the spread last year and I can see this as a bounce back spot.   They are going to want to prove they are the best team in football this week and will have no mercy on the Saints.   The Saints also did not impress vs the Vikings last week.   It looked like Adrian Peterson wanted to eat the head of Shawn Peyton towards the end of the game.  The Saints ran for a total of only 60 yards last game.   The Saints allowed the second most yards in the NFL vs the vikings at 470 last week.  Patriots by 10

49ers vs Seahawks under 42 – Both teams in the bottom of offensive stats last week.   Neither team put up over 225 yards and to top  that San Francisco was at home.   the 49ers can’t score the ball and have a horrible offense.   The Seahawks have a very bad offensive line and major problems with their run game.  San Francisco’s defense is better than last year and was their focal point in the draft.  Even without Reubin Foster this D should hold Seattle to 23 points or less.   I look for Seattle to at home prove that they still have Legion of Boom and stop the Niners winning 23-10.

Cowboys Broncos under 42 – Both defenses in the top  8 last week allowing less than 250 yards.   Both teams love to run the ball and chew clock.  I see a dog fight in this game.

NFL TEASER – Raiders +7.5 vs Jets and Denver +8 vs Dallas – Dallas’s defense looked good vs the Giants but Denver’s defense looked very good as well against the Chargers.   I know its a short week for Denver but the cowboys

Cub Fan Danny’s Picks

Cardinals (-7.5) vs Colts

Colts are just bad very very bad.  If it weren’t for the Jets they would be the worst team in the league.  Colts have no QB no running game no one to throw to Defense is bad as well.  I think the team has given up on the coach and they should shut down Luck for the year to let him heal properly.
The Cardinals did terrible last week.  David Johnson is hurt, Carson Palmer laid a big pile of poo on the field but Bruce Arians is a good coach and I expect them to get better this week to come up big win this game and cover.
If Colts score 13 points they should be consider themselves lucky.
Jets vs Oakland (-14)
Oakland went into Tennessee last week played a very good team and won the game outright. Opening up at home with David Carr throwing darts everywhere I like Oakland scoring in the 30’s and Jets somewhere around 13.
Redskins (+3) vs Rams
The Rams played well last week but they played against the second worse team in the league against the Colts.  They played great on offense great on defense but it was against the Colts.
Redskins played extremely poor last week they threw it 71% of the time. Running game was no existent offensive line played terrible.  I fully expect them to play better this week and I am taking the points with the Redskins.
Tennessee (-3) vs Jacksonville
When the line opened it was -2 and I took it right away. Right now is -3 but it is still a good play. The Titans played a very tough team last week with the Raiders last week, who I think will be the best team in the AFC this year.
The Titans should be able to put up more points this week against the Jags this week. I think last week Jags win against the Texans was mostly due to Tom Savage being so bad and Houston not being able to score and by half the game was over when they put Watson in.
I like Titans here at -3 and getting in the win column.

College – Tulane vs Oklahoma – Oklahoma state vs Pitt – SMU vs TCU – Airforce  vs Michigan – Kentucky vs South Carolina – Virginia Tech vs E Carolina – Tennessee vs Florida – Purdue  vs Missouri – Utah State vs Wake Forest – LSU vs Mississippi state

NFL – Lions vs Giants – Patriots vs Saints – 49ers vs Seahawks – Cowboys vs Denver – Titans vs Jaguars – Jets vs Raiders – Redskins vs Rams – Cardinals vs Colts

Fantasy fooball Week 2

Key Injuries

Danny Woodhead.   Look to pick up Javorius Allen

David Johnson could be out the whole season.  Dislocated wrist.  Pick up Kerwin Williams asap

Kevin White from the bears.   Possible out for the season.   Look for Kendall Wright or Marcus Wheaton

Danny Amendola – concussion.  He has had a lot of them

Allen Robinson – Torn ACL

Huge waiver pickups

Nelson Agholor disappointed for 2 years in a row.   All of a sudden he gets 8 targets, 1 TD and 6 Receptions.  Makes me wonder if its him or Alshawn Jeffery

Tarik Cohen from the bears 12 targets!!!   Look to fade Jordan Howard.   Sell Sell Sell

Cooper Kupp – Looks like he will be the leading WR on the rams.  Owned in only 25% of leagues.   Rams Pass offense looks legit

Blake Bortles – May turn out ok under coach Coughlin.   He was an under rated coach and the Giants will pay for not treating him better.

Jared Goff – Good performance against a god awful defense.   Jury is out on him

Kerwin WIlliams – David Johnsons main backup.  A must own

Charles Clay — 35% of all Buffalos Targets last game

Marquise Lee for Allen Robinson’s Injury

Marlon Mack – Took carries from Frank Gore

Guys to Fade

Christain McCaffery – He looks very small in the NFL.   The Carolina run offense looked awfully like it did last year.   Their pass plays to McCaffery out in the flat was covered will with a Spy and very predictable.   Jury is out but selling him now may not be a bad thing.

Jordan Howard – May be losing some serious touches to Tarik Cohen.   Something to watch

College Football week 2 recap

College Football Recap week 2

7-7-1 for tweeted picks

17-12-1 for the year so far

couple games didn’t play such as S florida, Miami and Florida State

Big winning conferences

ACC – Minus the Virginia Indiana game they were flawless.   Huge Duke win vs Northwestern.   Clemson win vs Auburn was huge.

Big 12 – Oklahoma was huge for them and the whole conference.   TCU taking out Arkansas didn’t hurt.   They would be my favorite if Kansas and Baylor didn’t let them down this week.   Iowa state was also a close game.

Losers –

Big 10 – Didn’t cover many spreads this week.  Ohio State losing.  Penn State not covering.   Wisconsin looking like crap.   Michigan no offense.   NU losing.   Rutgers losing.   This was definitley not a good week for the big 10.   I still think this will be a premier conference and if Wisconsin and Penn State can go undefeated to the Big 10 championship game, they both can get in.

Pac 12 – Washington State should have lost that game.  Both the Zona teams lost outright.   Pathetic.  Utah beats BYU in a god awful game to watch.   Oregon state loses to to Minnesota by a lot.   Oregon beats Nebraska but does not cover the spread.

SEC – Auburns loss and Arkansas loss ruined it.  Georgia did beat notre dame but not enough to boost the conference.   I will be looking to fade Arkansas the way out.

Games

Wisconsin Vs Florida Atlantic – What we learned is that Wisconsin can’t enforce their will on all running plays.   We also learned that Wisconsin still lacks a valid pass rush.   Lots of open Wide Receivers for Florida Atlantic.   Wisconsin will be downgraded a point in my power ratings

Michigan Vs Cincinatti – What a boring game.   Michigan’s defense scored 2 TDs and special teams got a lucky 2 point safety on a bad snap.   I picked the over and had a push at 50.   I was lucky because I was wrong.  Michigan’s offense really is bad.    I got lucky with the push

Buffalo is for real for at least covering this year.   They should have beaten army straight up.   X UW whitewater coach Lance Leipold won the division 3 championship 6 out of 8 years in Whitewater.   Now he has his recruits.  Watch out Mid American Conference

North Carolina has no Defense is all i have to say about that bad beat.  Look to ride the over with them.

West Virginia will continue to throw the ball with Grier and will hit a lot of huge overs

Arkansas can’t hit Field Goals and pissed away a great opportunity.

Northwestern isn’t what they thought they were!!!   Thats what Denny Green would say!   Probably better for Wisconsin in the Big Ten West

Kansas’s QB is not good.   I had to stop watching….   Fade them in every big 12 game here on out

Purdue fooled the sharps once again and smacked the Mac crushing Ohio 44-21.  Now that score is a bit misleading because Ohio had some uncharacteristic tournovers.   Frank Solich must be pissed.   They did show some good signs that game.   I may be on them next week

Alabama has the respect not to blow out bad teams.   But they will blow out SEC teams.   mark my words!

Penn state finally failed to cover.  After 11 covers straight!    But it did cover the opening line.   They won by 19 points against a pretty good Pitt team.   Penn state won’t be downgraded over this.

Rutgers Huge Let down to many big 10 fans.    Lots of sharps as well.   They still could be a sneaky cover team.

USC –  They toyed with our emotions.   They completely were the team who we thought we knew from last year.   Stanford was lethargic against them and they now need to win out.

Ohio State – No change.   I already had them below Penn State in my power ratings.   They played a team that had everything to lose.  Baker Mayfield is a legitimate heisman contender.   They will lose a stinker.   Mark my words

Clemson – Took care of business at home.   Beat a great Auburn Defense.   Auburn needs to run the table.

look ahead spots for next week:

  • Stanford playing San Diego state has UCLA on deck
  • UCLA playing Memphis has at Stanford on deck
  • TCU playing SMU has at OK State on deck
  • OK State at Pittsburgh has TCU on deck.

Let down spots for next week:

  • Oklahoma plays Tulane at home
  • Clemson plays at Louisville
  • Duke plays Baylor at home and looks ahead to North Carolina????

College Football week 2 recap – Fantasy Football week 2

College football recap and analysis of week 2.   Big ten power ratings.   NFL Fantasy football recap from week 1 – Injuries – Waivers moves – Break out players for week 2 – Players to fade for week 2.  Sleepers and Busts

NFL WEEK 1!

The Public Dog Kiev’s Picks:

Atlanta -7 vs Chicago.   Chicago’s Defense was actually worse than the stats showed for last year.   They were 15th in Yards allowed but that is misleading because most teams would be crushing them by halftime and then run the clock out in the middle of the third quarter.   The bears were 24th in points allowed last year.   Some of that is due to awful turnovers but do you think that will change with Glennon? I think Atlanta is pissed about what happened in last years Superbowl and is ready to put the pedal to the metal. I would hate to face them week 1.

Redskins PK vs Eagles. for 2 equal teams i will go with the home team every time. I am looking for a sophomore slump from Carson Wentz. He is owned in less than half the leagues in Fantasy Football while cousins is owned in 100% Redskins had a very good draft really helping out their defense. Washington was 3rd last year in total offense with 6454 yards. Most of all, i talked all this shit about Washington this year. So now I have to back it up!

Houston -5.5 vs Jacksonville. Houston number 1 in Total defense last year. They have JJ Watt back. Their QB play can only be better this year. Jacksonville is a mess. Blake Bortles has looked bad in the preseason. He lost all confidence Houston will stack the box and shut them down. This spread should be 7

Seattle +3 vs Green bay. Seattle is always looking to start out the year strong. They have Eddie Lacy who should be able to give up some packer offensive secrets. Seattle had the 5th best defense on a hard schedule last year allowing 5099 yards. The packers defense ranked 22nd. Most importantly the packers have 5 questionable to doubtful players this week.  Clay Matthews is beat up, Nick Perry is beat up.  Bryan Bulaga, Montavious Adams and Davon House are highly questionable.   I like Seattle to keep this close if not win

Cub Fan Danny’s Picks

I believe in the Superbowl Hangover.  Since 2001 the loser of the Super Bowl is 5-11. The Bears arent supposed to be any good, will the Falcons overlook this game as a game they should win and start looking at their home open next week vs Packers?
The falcons had one of the best if not the best offense last year but that was last year. There has been a change with their Offensive Coordinator who gave Matt Ryan his best year ever.  What will the new Offensive Coordinator do?  How will he mesh with Ryan.
falcons also have a new D coordinator and that can take time to mesh the Defense as well.
The Bears Defense will be much better this year and starting the season for the most part healthy.  I like the way the defense looked this preseason especially shutting down the Titans everyone’s pick to make the playoffs in game 3 of the pre-season.  The Bears will have a very good running game this year and throw a lot of different looks at the Falcons.
Glennon is familiar with the Falcons and if can perform under pressure and move the ball the Bears have a great shot of controlling the Time of possession and grinding a close game.
Take the +7. Falcons 24-20.

Seattle +3 vs Packers
Seattle Defense is going to be very very good this year if not the best in the NFL.  They added Sheldon Richardson from the Jets making that DLINE difficult to shut down and they will put a lot of pressure on Rodgers.
Russell Wilson is poised and should be able to perform against the Packers Defense that has been shakey at best the past couple of years.  If any team can shut down Rodgers it is Seattle. I believe the Seahawks shut down Green Bay and win outright but getting +3 is the play.
Seattle 31-24

Oakland Raiders +1 1/2.
I really like David Carr and believe he can be one of the best 3 QB’s in the league.  He already has in his young career 12 comeback victories.  The raiders have confidence that he will comeback and win it if it is close.  Watching the Titans this preseason I am not confident that they will be as good as everyone thinks they will be.  David Carr is 2-0 vs Mariota in his career. Getting  +1 1/2 Take the Raiders.
Raiders 35-28.

Rams -3 vs Colts.
Colts will be terrible offensively without Andrew Luck.  Luck is not starting and the they are going with Scott Tolzien. Let me say that again SCOTT TOLZIEN!  Rams should improve this year with Goff, Gurley and the addition of Sammy Watkins.  I can see this game going 24-10 Colts.
