NFL Week 13 Free Plays

Washington vs Carolina -10 O/U 39.5

Dwayne Haskins is really all you have to say about this handicap but at the same time, the kid has nothing to work with.   Washington is actually in a let down spot here after getting their second win of the season against a beat up Lions team.   Carolina is better than Washington in yards per play but .5 and it would be larger if the schedules were closer.   Washington has had a much harder schedule than Carolina.  Every public power rating has the Panthers favored by 11-13 points.   My PRs have it by 14 factoring in the let down spot.   Carolina is in a tough wildcard race in the NFC and they need this game big.  Washington should be losing for draft capital in my opinion.

Carolina -10 – 2 star premium shared

NY Jets vs Cincinnati +3.5 O/U 41

There are not many teams worse at Yards per play than the Bengals but the Jets fit right in at 4.5 yards per play while the Bengals are at 4.8.  Even worse, the Jets on the road have only 4.1 yards per play.   Now the biggest worry here is that the Jets are a 1.5 yards per play better than the Bengals on defense.  The Jets have a net yards per play advantage of 1.2.   The biggest thing for me here is that the switch back to Andy Dalton should not only motivate him to make some big plays but also motivate the Bengals to get their first win.  My power ratings have this game a pickem so I will gladly take the 3.5 points over the key number.

Cincinnati +3.5 – 2 star premium shared

Philadelphia vs Miami +9 O/U 45

Slump buster alert!  Miami is back to playing Miami football this year and they really should have no motivation to win this game.   What does it accomplish for the future of this team?   They already have the worst home field advantage and there will be some Philadelphia fans at this game.   The Eagles have been in a massive slump but finally hit the easier part of their schedule playing 4 out of their last 5 games against tomato cans.   I think that Alshawn Jefferey will be back this game to help Wentz out of tough situations and if Nelson Agholor plays then they can stretch the field.   Philly has a 1.3 net yards per play advantage here and I have to think that Doug Peterson will be ready to put one on the Dolphins.   My Power ratings have this game around 10 but the situation favors the Eagles who are getting healthy and have a great shot still at the wildcard after beating Green Bay and the Bears.

Philadelphia -9 – 1.5 star premium shared play – slump buster

UNLV vs Nevada -7.5 O/U 52

This is definitely a rivalry and maybe it has some added juice now that UNLV has fired their coach Tony Sanchez effective at the end of the season.  This just means more motivation for the Rebels in my opinion.  Nevada is a weird team who won some games that they probably should not have won and lost some games by a very large margin to slightly better teams.   Margin really is the key here to my handicap.   Whenever Nevada wins it seems to by 7 points or less unless that team is New Mexico or UTEP.    The key thing here for me is that UNLV has proven they can win big games.   They were motivated against Vanderbilt and motivated last week against San Jose State.   The yards per play is both equally bad at about a net -1.   Nevada is going to make a bowl game having 7 wins while UNLV is playing this game as their last game of the season.   I think the Rebels are doing it for their coach this game and will keep it close if not win it outright.

UNLV +7.5 – 2 star premium shared

West Virginia vs TCU -13 O/U 44

Well I do not love to take large favorites unless there is some real motivation issues.   I gave this out at -12.   TCU has every reason to go and win this game being that they need 1 more win to go bowling while West Virginia is donezo in that department.   The Mountaineers as we know are finishing up a rebuilding year with a new coach and it really showed this year with their greatest win at Kansas State a few weeks back.   As a matter of fact their NC State win doesn’t really look very good anymore either.   They average about a -.6 net yards per play and cannot run the ball.  TCU wasn’t exactly a power house this year but they showed signs of being a good team by beating Texas by 10 points, hanging with Baylor and only a 4 point loss last week at Oklahoma. Gary Patterson should be able to exploit the weaknesses of Neal Browns team here.  Most power ratings have this as about a 14 point spread. Mine has it at a 14.5 but the motivation spot makes this game a play.

TCU -13 – 2.5 star premium shared play

Texas Tech vs Texas under 66 – 2 star premium shared

Wisconsin vs Minnesota +2 O/U 47

So as a fan of the Wisconsin Badgers I can honestly say that I am not a homer and do not give out homer plays but when you look into this game there are some big reasons to be on the Badgers this game.   First, Wisconsin has had a much harder schedule than Minnesota.  The Gopher’s hardest game was playing Penn State at home and didn’t have to play teams like Ohio State, Michigan and Michigan State like Wisconsin did.   Sagarin has their schedule at 68 and Wisconsin’s at 44.   Secondly, Wisconsin is a net .3 yards per play better than Minnesota and this should be even larger had they had the same strength of schedule.  Third, this game is going to be cold, rainy and windy which we know favors the running team over the passing team.   Wisconsin averages 5.5 yards per rush over Minnesota’s 4.2.  Fourth, Wisconsin has destroyed their non-conference opponents while Minnesota struggled to beat Fresno State in over time, South Dakota State in overtime, and almost lost to Georgia Southern.  Fifth, this is a HUGE revenge spot for Bucky from losing the Axe at home last year to a motivated Gophers team.  The Badgers were very hurt at that time as well as coming off a tough overtime game vs Purdue and they flat out overlooked the Gophers.  That will not happen this time and I think the Badgers will ROLLLLL!

Wisconsin -2 – 3 star premium shared play

College Football Week 13 Misleading Final Scores

NC State vs Georgia Tech – NC State outgained Georgia Tech by 62 yards yet lost by 2.  Won the turnover battle as well.

Oklahoma State vs West Virginia – West Virginia outgained Oklahoma State by 111 yards yet lost by 7 – no turnovers this game and bad efficiency for the Mountaineers

Kansas vs Iowa State – Kansas outgained Iowa State by a few yards and lost by 10.  Iowa State scored 20 in the 4th quarter screwing my under.

East Carolina vs Uconn – Uconn outgained East Carolina by 18 yards yet lost by 7

Georgia vs Texas A&M – The Aggies outgained the Bulldogs by 14 yards yet lost by 6.   They had -1 total rushing yards but a 1-0 turnover ratio.   Weird game.

Texas vs Baylor – Both teams equal in yards yet Texas loses by 2 touchdowns.  Equal in turnovers.   I guess they had it coming due to the times they were outgained and covered.

Western Kentucky vs Southern Miss – Southern outgained Western Kentucky by 23 yards and lost by 18 points.  3-1 turnover ratio didn’t help.

San Jose State vs UNLV – San Jose State outgained UNLV by 114 yards and lost by 3 due to a 5-1 turnover ratio.

UTEP vs NM State – UTEP outgained NM State by 116 yards and lost by 9 due to a 2-0 turnover ratio.

Old Dominion vs Middle Tennessee State – Dominion outgained State by 31 yards yet lost by 21.  Only a 1-0 turnover rato.

Kansas State vs Texas Tech – Tech outgained K-State by 140 yards and lost by 3.  Only a 2-1 turnover ratio.

Temple vs Cincinnati – Temple outgained Cinci by 100 yards and lost by 2.  Same turnover ratio.

Miami vs FIU – Miami outgained FIU by 116 yards yet lost by 6.   FIU was wearing the turnover chain at 3-0.

Houston vs Tulsa – Tulsa outgained Houston by 149 yards yet lost by 10 due to a 4-1 turnover ratio.

Oklahoma vs TCU – Oklahoma outgained TCU by 307 yards and only won by 4.  Partly due to a big lead in the second half and a 3-1 turnover ratio.
