Another great weekend in college football and yet another 2-2 week bringing my overall record to 10-7. I would have thought USF being up 14 points with goal to go could hold on for that win and cover but, Memphis had other plans. Colorado State’s coaching change did not appear to make much of a difference and that one had no chance! Am I done betting against Wyoming? I think not! Here are some of the games I will be placing wagers on this weekend as we head down the home stretch of the College Football Season.
Navy Midshipmen (+6.5) @ North Texas Mean Green (12:00 PM/EST): This one might be a little crazy as we have mismatches on both sides of the ball. North Texas has a great pass game and Navy has a weak pass defense. Navy has a great run game and North Texas has a bad rush defense, I would expect both offenses to have their way. The difference in this one is experience vs inexperience. Drew Mestemaker has been lights out for the Mean Green most of the season but, he has not even had a full season of college football or even high school football. In there biggest game when they got down his inexperience began to show. If the Mean Green can keep this core together I see an AAC championship in the future but, for this season I could see them beating up on the bottom of the conference and having a tougher time with the top teams. They get another shot here against Navy and they have the potential to win but, I like Navy to at least keep it close.
Temple Owls (+5.5) vs East Carolina Pirates (2:00 PM/EST): Kiev mentioned this one on the Podcast as a money line beer bet and I will also be sprinkling that money line. This is a very underrated game in the American. Both of these teams are still very much alive for a spot in the American title game. I think the oddsmakers may not have quite caught up to how good this Temple team is and having eyes on both of these teams I would have thought this line would be a little bit smaller. I like the value on the home dog in this one and with everything else being equal I will put my money on the Owl’s quarterback Evan Simon who has 21 touchdowns and 0 interceptions on the season. I trust the Owls at home I will happily take the 5.5.
San Diego State Aztecs (-10.5) vs Wyoming Cowboys (7:00 PM/EST): Here we go again betting against the best college football team in the state of Wyoming. Wyoming looked solid last week and moved the ball at will against a bad Colorado State team but, this week they hit the road to play possibly the best defense in the Mountain West. Wyoming has not had to play a game outside of Colorado or Wyoming since the first week of the season and the Aztecs have been great at home, only giving up 24 points so far in three home games. All 24 of those points came against the same opponent (some of which in garbage time) so they have pitched two shutouts at Snapdragon including one against a power 4 team. I like this matchup for the Aztecs as they should have the ability to really shut down this Wyoming offense as they are maybe, not that great? They only managed to score 21 points against Air Force who might be the worst defense in the country so, this is a much taller task. Wyoming’s rush defense is towards the bottom in the Mountain West and this plays right into what San Diego State has been doing in their best performances; playing stout defense and running the ball. A few bombs from Jayden Denegal would not hurt either to get us a win of little more than two scores.
Hawaii Rainbow Warriors (+1.5) @ San Jose State Spartans (10:30 PM/EST): In previous years it has been a good bet to fade Hawaii away from the islands. I tried to this year, twice and it has not gone well as Hawaii won both of their games in the State of Colorado against Colorado State and Air Force. Neither of those games were particularly close so, maybe this is just a good team. This matchup is interesting as we have two teams that both run the same offense. I do not believe that either team really runs it better than the other so, I see the difference in this game being Hawaii actually plays a little defense. Any game involving San Jose State has the potential for a shootout but, Hawaii is the better team and as they have proven they can now win on the mainland I will take them as a short underdog. As I said before Hawaii can actually play a little defense so if we get in a close game I would rather have my money on Hawaii to get us just one stop when it comes down to it. If you want to play this one I recommend getting it fast as this moved today from +2.5 to +1.5.

The Bears out-gained the Ravens 372 to 355 yet lost 30-16. A 1-0 turnover ratio, 11 penalties, and poor quarterback play in the red zone hurt the bears.
The Saints out-gained the Bucs 275 to 212 yet lost 23-3. A 3-1 turnover ratio, terrible red zone, and quarterback play scathed the Ain’ts.
Louisiana Tech outgained Western Kentucky 449 to 340 yet lost in OT 28-27. Equal turnovers at one, but boneheaded clock management and nine penalties stunted the Bulldogs.
Bowling Green out-gained Kent State 379 to 294 yet lost 24-21. Equal turnovers at zero, but bad red zone and no quarterback got the Falcons.
North Carolina out-gained Virginia 353 to 358 yet lost 17-16 in overtime. A 3-1 turnover ratio did in Chapel Bill.
Buffalo out-gained Akron 357 to 325 yet lost 24-16. A disgusting 5-3 turnover ratio stabbed the Bulls.
Washington State only outgained Toledo 321 to 299 yet won 28-7. Toledo won the turnover battle 2-3 but was bad on fourth down going 1-4.
Iowa State out-gained BYU 495 to 410 yet lost 41-27. A terrible 4-0 turnover ratio cloned the Clones.
Missouri out-gained Vanderbilt 376 to 265 yet lost 17-10. Equal turnovers at 1 but just bad red zone efficiency and a quarterback injury got the Tigers.
Louisiana out-gained Troy 371 to 345 yet lost 35-23. A 3-1 turnover ratio did them in.
Arizona State out-gained Houston 426 to 384 yet lost 24-16. A 1-0 turnover ratio and terrible red zone efficiency got the Sun Devils.
