🏀 LSU vs. Ole Miss: Advanced‑Stats Game Preview

📍 Context & Stakes

Ole Miss (11–16, 3–11 SEC) hosts LSU (14–13, 2–12 SEC) in Oxford. Oddsmakers have Ole Miss as a slight favorite at –1.5, with a high projected total of 149, signaling expectations of a fast-paced, offense‑tilted game.

📊 Team Statistical Profiles

LSU Tigers

Record: 14–13 (2–12 SEC) Tempo & Efficiency:

  • Offensive Rating (ORtg): 116.5 (Top 60 nationally)
  • Defensive Rating (DRtg): 109.8 (Bottom third nationally)
  • Points per game: 81.0
  • Points allowed: 76.3
  • Strength of Schedule (SOS): 9.06 (Top 60)
  • Simple Rating System (SRS): 13.69 (Top 50)

What this means: LSU is an efficient, high‑scoring offense with a defense that leaks points. Their games tend to become track meets. They shoot well, move the ball, and can score in bunches—but they struggle to string together stops.

Ole Miss Rebels

Record: 11–16 (3–11 SEC) Recent Form: Ole Miss has dropped several straight, giving up 80+ points in multiple games. Their defense has been inconsistent, and they’ve struggled to close out competitive games.

What this means: Ole Miss is less efficient offensively than LSU and has been trending downward defensively. However, they play better at home and have shown flashes of strong perimeter scoring.

🔍 Key Matchup Themes

1. Pace & Shot Quality

Both teams allow high point totals, but LSU’s offensive efficiency gives them a clear edge in half‑court execution. Ole Miss will need to slow the game down or risk getting run out of their own gym.

2. LSU’s Offensive Versatility

With an ORtg of 116.5, LSU can score from multiple levels and tends to generate high‑value shots. Their spacing and ball movement often force opponents into rotations they can’t sustain.

3. Ole Miss’ Defensive Fragility

Ole Miss has allowed 90+ points in several recent SEC games. If they can’t contain LSU’s transition game, this could tilt heavily toward the Tigers.

4. Home‑Court Factor

Ole Miss plays significantly better at The Pavilion, and LSU has struggled on the road. This is the main reason the Rebels are favored despite LSU’s stronger efficiency metrics.

📈 Advanced‑Stats Comparison Table

Category LSU Ole Miss Edge
Offensive Efficiency (ORtg) 116.5 Lower, below SEC median LSU
Defensive Efficiency (DRtg) 109.8 Also poor, trending worse Slight LSU
Pace Impact High-scoring, fast Moderate LSU
Recent Form Competitive vs top SEC teams Multiple double‑digit losses LSU
Home/Road Split Road struggles Home boost Ole Miss
Vegas Line +1.5 –1.5 Ole Miss

Prediction:

  • It you want to watch games involving two big schools that do not matter, this is the one for the night.
  • Neither of these teams have much of a chance to make an at large bid to the NCAA tournament, but when that happens, we usually see defense become quite forgotten.
  • Both of these teams play a faster pace with LSU ranking 127th in average possession length while Ole Miss ranks 155th.
  • When it comes to defensive rebounding, both teams rank 11th or worse in conference play.
  • Over the last six games, Ole Miss has given up 79 or more points.   LSU on the same note has allowed 79 or more points over the last eight of nine games.
  • I like the over here.

College Basketball Sunday Fun-Day Play – Iowa vs Wisconsin – Sports Betting

Iowa vs Wisconsin -3 O/U 147.5

🏀 Iowa vs. Wisconsin — Advanced Stats Preview (with Game Data)

📍 Game Context

  • Location: Kohl Center, Madison, WI
  • Line: Wisconsin –3.5
  • Total: 147.5
  • Win Probability: Wisconsin 62.6%, Iowa 37.4%
  • Records:
    • Iowa: 19–7 (9–6 Big Ten)
    • Wisconsin: 18–8 (10–5 Big Ten)

🔢 Team Efficiency & Advanced Metrics

⚡ Tempo & Possessions

  • Iowa is historically one of the fastest Big Ten teams, but not this year, and Wisconsin forces opponents into slow, half‑court games.
  • Wisconsin’s home environment (13–2 at home per ESPN) amplifies their pace control.
  • Projected possessions: ~66–68 (Wisconsin’s preferred range).

Why it matters: At ~67 possessions, efficiency — not volume — decides the game.

🎯 Offensive Efficiency

Iowa Offense

  • 76.2 PPG scoring profile (season)
  • B. Stirtz: 20.5 PPG, 50.7% FG, 84.4% FT — elite efficiency for a high‑usage guard
  • Iowa shoots 49.5% FG, well above Wisconsin’s defensive average allowed (44.3%).
  • Iowa thrives in early‑clock actions; efficiency drops in late‑clock half‑court sets.

Wisconsin Offense

  • 83.1 PPG scoring profile (season) — significantly higher than Iowa’s defensive allowance (64.4 PPG)
  • N. Boyd: 20.3 PPG, 47.6% FG, 80.8% FT — a matchup problem for Iowa’s perimeter defense
  • Wisconsin has been top‑10 nationally in offensive efficiency in February (per ESPN analytics reporting).
  • They take the 12th‑most threes this month, stretching defenses horizontally.

Efficiency Edge: Wisconsin — especially in half‑court execution.

🛡 Defensive Matchups

Iowa Defense

  • Allows 64.4 PPG (season) — strong on paper, but inflated by pace control in wins.
  • Vulnerable in:
    • Ball‑screen coverage
    • Transition defense
    • Closeouts vs. high‑volume shooters

Wisconsin Defense

  • Allows 44.3% FG to opponents — nearly identical to Iowa’s defensive FG% allowed.
  • Strong defensive rebounding (N. Winter: 8.9 RPG) limits Iowa’s second‑chance scoring.

Defensive Edge: Slight Wisconsin — due to rebounding and pace control.

🔍 Key Player Impact Metrics

Player Team PPG Efficiency Notes
B. Stirtz Iowa 20.5 High‑usage, elite FT%, drives Iowa’s pace
T. Banks Iowa 4.8 RPG Iowa’s best interior rebounder, but undersized vs. Wisconsin’s frontcourt
N. Boyd Wisconsin 20.3 Efficient scorer, strong in late‑clock situations
N. Winter Wisconsin 8.9 RPG Major rebounding advantage, key to tempo control

📈 Matchup History (Recent)

Wisconsin has won 6 of the last 10 meetings and the last two straight, including:

  • 74–63 (Feb 8, 2025)
  • 116–85 (Jan 3, 2025)

This matters because Wisconsin’s system has consistently forced Iowa into inefficient half‑court games.

🧠 Prediction:

  • This is one of those buy low, sell high games.  Iowa is coming off of a strange when where they beat Nebraska is a very low scoring game.   Rebounding was a big part of it as for some reason, Nebraska only secured two of their misses.
  • Iowa’s defense looks good on paper ranking 32nd in efficiency on Kenpom, but I think that those numbers are a bit off as the the Hawkeye’s slow pace is a big factor in their points allowed per game.
  • The truth is that the Hawkeye’s rank 154th in defensive effective FG% while Wisconsin ranks 72nd in effective FG% on offense.
  • The Badgers are on the bounce after a rough half hearted loss at a hot Ohio State team while Iowa is fat and happy after the big Nebraska win.
  • Maybe the most glaring thing to me is that Wisconsin has played the tougher schedule as Iowa hasn’t played anybody with a pulse in the none-conference minus a loss to Iowa State.
  • The Badgers play well at any pace, and I think they get a big win at home.

🔵 Duke Blue Devils — 2025–26 Advanced Metrics

(Sports‑Reference, 2025–26 season)

  • Record: 24–2 (13–1 ACC)
  • Points per game (PS/G): 83.0 (47th of 365)
  • Points allowed per game (PA/G): 63.2 (3rd of 365)
  • Simple Rating System (SRS): 30.462nd nationally
  • Strength of Schedule (SOS): 10.65 — 18th nationally
  • Offensive Rating (ORtg): 122.313th nationally
  • Defensive Rating (DRtg): 93.14th nationally

⭐ What this means

Duke enters the matchup with:

  • Top‑5 defense (DRtg 93.1, PA/G 63.2)
  • Top‑15 offense (ORtg 122.3)
  • Top‑2 overall team strength (SRS 30.46)

This is an elite efficiency profile — one of the best in college basketball.

〽️ Michigan Wolverines — 2025–26 Advanced Metrics

Michigan’s full advanced metrics are not published in the search results, but ESPN’s matchup page provides verified season performance indicators.

From ESPN’s 2026 matchup preview:

  • Record: 25–1 (15–1 Big Ten)
  • Points per game: 90.6 (elite scoring)
  • Points allowed: 68.8
  • Field goal defense: 37.1% allowed (elite shot suppression)
  • Assist leader: Elliot Cadeau — 5.5 APG
  • Rebounding leader: Yaxel Lendeborg — 7.5 RPG

⭐ What this means

Even without published ORtg/DRtg, Michigan’s profile clearly indicates:

  • Elite defensive efficiency (37.1% FG allowed)
  • High‑tempo, high‑output offense (90.6 PPG)
  • Strong ball movement (team APG near 20)

Michigan plays faster and more explosively than Duke, but with a similarly high defensive ceiling.

Prediction:

  • This may be the best game of the season from a competitive perspective.   This middle of the season game will be played at Capital One Arena in Washington DC.
  • Both teams rank number 1 and number 2 in defensive efficiency, while Michigan ranks 4th on offense and Duke ranks 7th.
  • It’s hard to rip the schedule of either team here as Duke’s schedule ranks 16th in the nation and Michigan ranks 7th.
  • Both teams are almost mirror images of themselves minus Michigan playing the much faster game yet still having the top defense in the league.
  • This is what I love about Michigan.  A team that plays that fast yet still having top ranked defense tells me that they are better than numbers can show.   Michigan has performed better on neutral courts this year while Duke has a loss to Texas Tech.
  • When watching these two teams this year on neutral courts, the scores show that Michigan has blown more great teams out, hence many of the statistics on them are still under exaggerated due to dribbling out the clock.
  • I have Michigan by about four points with a total of about 152.    I think the over is in play for now, but will just do a ML for the side.

Michigan PK -152 – 2 stars

North Carolina vs Syracuse +1.5 O/U 154.5

  • This game actually has some meaning in the ACC as Syracuse needs a big win to get on the right side of the bubble while UNC needs to stop the bleeding.  My question is, can UNC stop the bleeding?
  • Injuries have riddled the Tarheels as they lost their top player in Caleb Wilson until at least March Madness.   Their 7 foot Center Henry Veesaar has also been on the shelf and is questionable for this game.
  • Syracuse isn’t a good team this year, but they at least play ok defense when asked to.   The Orange also took out a pretty good SMU team at home on Valentines day before getting blown out at Duke.
  • Lastly, UNC is the worst team away from home on haslametrics ranking 365th in home road splits.
  • I think that the spot is much more important for Syracuse as they need this win to make the NCAA tournament.  They will not have many swings at the bat after this.

Syracuse PK – 2 stars

Loyola Chicago vs Fordham – 9.5 O/U 136.5

.

🏀 Loyola Chicago vs. Fordham — Game Preview

📍 Context & Stakes

Fordham (14–12, 5–8 A‑10) is trying to protect home court and stay in the middle of the Atlantic 10 pack, while Loyola Chicago (6–20, 2–11 A‑10) is simply trying to stop a five‑game road losing streak and find some consistency.

📊 Team Form & Trends

Fordham Rams

  • Record: 14–12 overall, 5–8 A‑10
  • Last 5 games: W–W–L–L–W (3–2)
  • Home record: 8–7 at Rose Hill Gym
  • Defensive strength:
    • 24.7 defensive rebounds per game (3rd in A‑10)
    • Led by Rikus Schulte (5.4 DRPG)
  • Scoring: 70.8 PPG (7.1 fewer than Loyola allows)
  • Betting outlook:
    • Favored at –8.5 with moneyline around –400 to –426 depending on book.

Loyola Chicago Ramblers

  • Record: 6–20 overall, 2–11 A‑10
  • Last 5 games: L–L–W–L–L (1–4)
  • Road struggles: Five straight road losses
  • Scoring:
    • 67.2 PPG (2.1 more than Fordham allows)
    • Allows 77.9 PPG, a major defensive liability
  • Head‑to‑head: Loyola is 3–2 in the last five vs. Fordham, though this roster is struggling.
  • Recent result: Coming off an 86–59 loss to Saint Louis.

🔍 Key Matchup Factors

1. Rebounding Battle

Fordham’s strong defensive rebounding (24.7 DRPG) is a major advantage against a Loyola team that struggles to control the glass. Expect Fordham to limit second‑chance points.

2. Defensive Efficiency

Loyola’s defense gives up nearly 78 points per game, one of the biggest gaps in the A‑10. Fordham’s offense isn’t explosive, but it’s efficient enough to exploit this.

3. Momentum & Confidence

Fordham has won 3 of its last 5 and is at home. Loyola has lost 4 of 5 and hasn’t won on the road in weeks.

4. Betting Market Signals

Books have Fordham as a clear favorite:

  • Spread: –8.5
  • Total: ~138
  • Moneyline: –400 to –426

These numbers reflect the gap in consistency and defensive reliability.

📈 What to Expect

Fordham’s Edge

  • Better defense
  • Stronger rebounding
  • Home‑court advantage
  • More consistent recent play

Loyola’s Path to an Upset

  • Push tempo and turn it into a high‑possession game
  • Hit perimeter shots early
  • Force Fordham into foul trouble or turnovers

But given Loyola’s defensive issues and road struggles, they’ll need a near‑perfect performance.

Prediction:

  • This is one of those slow paced under the radar games we love to bet on.
  • Fordham is the 2nd best unders team this year at 5-18 at 78.3%.  The margin on those games is a massive -7.5 points.
  • Loyola this year is a piss poor team that has been riddled with injuries and they have the worst free throw luck in the game with opponents shooting 78.7% at the charity stripe.    Oh, they also rank 343rd at shooting it themselves just under 67%.
  • Loyola is a team that plays slow and plays bad ranking 287th in average possession length with almost no good offense and or defense.   Fordham plays slow themselves ranking 359th in average possession length.
  • Neither of these teams rebound well, and neither of these teams get to the free throw line all that often.
  • This game is going to be a great watch for under bettors.

📈 Iowa State Recent Form (Last Game: Feb 1, 2026)

Iowa State is coming off a 95–61 demolition of Kansas State, showing elite efficiency and depth.

  • Joshua Jefferson: 19 points, 8 rebounds, 5 assists

  • Milan Momcilovic: 18 points (5‑for‑9 from three)

  • Tamin Lipsey: 16 points

This performance highlights:

  • High‑volume scoring

  • Strong perimeter shooting

  • Balanced multi‑scorer attack

📈 Kansas Recent Form (Context for Feb 14 Game)

Kansas enters the matchup after a massive upset of No. 1 Arizona, winning 82–78 despite missing star freshman Darryn Peterson due to illness.

This shows:

  • Kansas can win without its leading scorer

  • Strong late‑game execution

  • Defensive resilience against elite offenses

  • This will be an amazing game in the big 12 that has some serious post-season considerations.
  • Kansas is coming off of their biggest win this year beating number one Arizona at home without their stud NBA future top pick in Darryn Peterson.
  • Most people will think that this is a good thing and they may just be better.  I am not so sure about that.   Earlier this week, Arizona did not play their best game at the Phog, and Kansas played lights out.
  • I do not like the situation with Peterson taking games off even if we has sick against the Cats.
  • Iowa State is coming off of their worst game in a loss at TCU.   17 turnovers and losing the rebounding battle did them in.  This isn’t normal for the Clones and I see a huge bounce back spot here.
  • Iowa State got smoked by Kansas earlier this year at the Phog.  I can guarantee that the Clonen’s have been thinking about that.
  • Kansas is coming off of that win and they are now in a huge let down spot.  Kansas ranks 333rd in away/home splits on Haslametrics.  They only shoot 51% effective FG% away from home.   Iowa State shoots 61.4% at home.  I think the Clones get it right and win by margin here.

Purdue vs Iowa +2.5 O/U 142.5

  • This is a huge big 10 game in a similar situation as Kansas and Iowa State.  Iowa is coming off of a huge bad loss at Maryland, while Purdue is coming off of a defining win at Nebraska.
  • My big problem with Iowa is that they have been a bully.   They smoke the teams that have issues, and they choke when facing the better teams.   I cannot quite trust that even though they are in a big spot against Purdue.
  • Looking at the numbers, these teams are very identical.  They both play quite slow, and they both have very efficient offenses.
  • I think that pace is going to play a big factor in this game.  These teams could score a lot of points even on few possessions.
  • Believe it or not, I think that this game will get bet to the under, and this number will crash down far enough where an over may make some sense.
  • Both of these teams may look good on defense, but both rank 132nd or worse in opponent effective FG%.
  • Based on pure efficiency, let’s take an over 140
